Coast/Beach:

Lee Bay is not more than a 2 minute walk from Millfield. It is sheltered by dramatic cliffs and a beautiful place to play, build sandcastles and swim. It also has many interesting rock pools at low tide and is often fairly quiet even in the height of summer. Care should be taken when walking amongst the rocks as some can be very slippery but there is a footpath that takes you all the way to the sand when the tide is out. It is also ideal for kayaking and launching small pleasure craft.

Travel:

A car is essential when visiting this property. There are very occasional bus services from Ilfracombe to Lee Bay (up to 4 times a day in summer).

Distances:

Lee sits in between Ilfracombe and Mortehoe/Woolacombe. It's slightly quicker to drive to Ilfracombe through Higher Slade (under 10 minutes) but the walking distances on the coastal path are fairly similar, depending on the route you choose.

Further Details:

There is a charming pub in Lee village (The Grampus Inn) which serves lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, and a gift and craft shop too for ice creams. Food shopping, restaurants, etc. are a short drive away into Mortehoe, Woolacombe, Ilfracombe (Tesco, Lidl) and Braunton (Tesco).

  • Notes on accommodation: Please check our website for further details. Outside: Private stunning landscaped gardens extend to 3 sides of Millfield. There are two seating areas, one is perfect for family meals and close to the barbecue, the other smaller area has a bench and coffee table. The boat house is at the bottom of the garden, next to the lane and no more than a 2 minute walk to Lee beach from this point. Parking is at the top end of the garden, also next to the quiet country lane. There's space here for up to 4 regular cars. Utility Room: Next to the front door is a spacious cupboard containing a washing machine and tumble dryer, an iron, ironing board and cleaning equipment. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Millfield has a dedicated team of people who maintain it to a very high standard. Naturally, the property requires a lot of care due to its large garden and exposed position, yet it is a well-loved property and we aim for it to be a very comfortable base. Other: The dining area is part of the kitchen and is perfect to seat all the family for every meal. Patio doors extend out to a patio area and the barbecue.
