About the property

Apartment in Salobrena, Costa Tropical, Spain - Peaceful location with uninhibited sea views

Apartment Salobrena" is situated on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and down to the old Andalucian village of Salobrena. The Apartment is individual annexed to a very private villa. It enjoys its seperate own entrances, has two terrace areas which both have commanding views out to sea. The entrance to Apartment Salobreña is at street level from a private parking space, then there are twelve steps down to the front door of the apartment. The Apartment is on one level. Kids stuff can be provided from cot /high chair or even extra laptop....The infinity pool effect is an illusion but really works......pool is great for serious swim or little people. There is plenty of space around the pool and gardens to sunbathe chill n relax.

Please do NOT use online booking form to make deposit as slowness of system can result in over-lap of enquiry......please txt or call or email and confirm with us as we much prefer to deal on a personal basis

Very enjoyable having the dolphins for breakfast every morning. There are so many wines in the Rioja stable and 10 days wasn't long enough to gain a working knowledge of them !!

Tesorilla beach excellent, snorkelling, fishing and swimming. Megan enjoyed the market in Almuñecar ( she enjoys anything that involves spending money ) Great tablecloths, handbags and shoes worth a visit.

Enjoyable restful visit to real Spain.

Had a great week in very comfortable apartment with lovely views. Costa Tropical is an area where we hope to spend many more holidays

Tack sa muchet (thank you) Haidee and Ian

his is one of the best areas we have visited. It was very difficult to leave the wonderful views of the terrace. On the odd occasion that we did, the trip to the Alpujarras, especially Trevelez and Pampaniera was fantastic. The apartment is lovely with everything we needed, our hosts welcoming and helpful.

Strongly recommend paying via Owners Direct

  • 1 of 5

We paid a deposit for a holiday directly with the owner (as advised by the owner) rather than through Owners Direct. Perhaps a little naïve. Despite numerous assurances of a refund for the deposit, we are still waiting for a refund.

A very big peice of heaven !

  • 5 of 5

Firstly Reg and the team have a great ethos towards your stay " if you have a problem tell us and if you are having a great time tell others" Nothing is too much trouble and combined with a lovely welcome pack we received of smoked salmon, local cheese and Red wine the holiday started as it did go on. Beautiful flowers, fruit trees including figs which we had with some local cheese and bread are what to expect in the gardens. We could see the dolphins following a trawler and lots of different varieties of birds and friendly insects not forgetting the Gecko's and lizards (if you look for it you will find it) also a local cat makes an appearance some nights.

The pool and views don't need promoting as they are simply stunning "a little bit of millionaire lifestyle" as I put it, the nights are also as spectacular with clear unpolluted scenery of stars and the wonderful castle lit up in Salobrena, with a glass of wine and some background music this place does become very spiritual and unwinding becomes a natural thing to do.

We submersed ourselves in Spanish culture here trying all types of local food and drinks, speaking a bit of Spanglish which really helped us with the locals who in turn couldn't help us enough and to add, this area is one that we found hard to spend money in as everything was very inexpensive. Driving is easy also, whether you like the stunning mountains or the beaches everywhere is straight forward to get to. My wife and I, and my two teenage daughters had a proper experience of real spain and all four of us came home feeling refreshed. Reg and the team have plans to make the experience even better soon so we shall definitely be watching this space.

Many Thanks

Lovely Spot - fantastic views and great pool

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the Apartment for 2 weeks in June- just my husband and I looking for a very relaxed holiday, which we got. This is a lovely spot – the views are stunning from the terraces, the pool is really lovely and so it is very tempting to just stay put. The apartment is just what you want, not overly fussy but good sized rooms. We booked with the previous owners who had not been able to get over much recently, the new owner Reg was keen to get constructive feedback so he could tweek things a bit. We made a couple of suggestions and he was very receptive. Everything you need is there WiFi is great and there are news channels in English on TV although no entertainment channels (one of our suggestions was to update this or provide a DVD player- ) There was a useful welcome pack on arrival. The apartment was very clean and there were plenty of towels and linen, all changed at the end of week one. Reg was gradually updating some of the facilities.

The apartment is on one level but the villa is on a hilly terrace so there are steps up and down to the pool and front gate. We found this no problem but you would need to be aware of this. However the steps provided the character and the terraces. There is a lovely big BBQ and eating terrace outside of the bedroom, where we had all our meals just looking out to sea. We saw Sharks (we understand not the people eating kind) You really need binoculars. There are some shady spots provided by the small terraces and planting but the grounds are not huge. There is a back gate which takes you out to the hillside and if you explore round to a beach down a steep track on the other side of the near by hotel plus a nice evening stroll around some beautiful villas. The gate was old and clearly not used much, it nearly defeated us so again we suggested that this was made easier to use so that you could take advantage of it, as it is not really easy to walk down the road as it is busy. If you want to use it it may be worth checking with Reg if it is possible.

The local towns and beaches are great and you are not far from Alhambra - book in advance and go for a morning slot so you can stay all day.

We had a great holiday with sparkling sunshine, great views a lovely pool what more can you ask for.

Perfect for a relaxing family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our 6 year old daughter and her nana. We all had a wonderful relaxing week.

The apartment is well connected in more ways than one: it's about an hour's drive from Malaga airport (low-cost flights from all over Europe); around 45 mins from Granada (beautiful Moorish architecture and the world-famous Alhambra); and only a mile from Salobrena (beach, yummy ice creams and tasty local restaurants, as well as supermarkets).

It also boasts free wireless broadband and some UK TV channels, so you can still check your emails or keep up with the news, if that's your idea of relaxing.

The apartment is on a single level, and has a kitchen/ dining/ lounge area and two bedrooms. We self-catered most days and the facilities were fine for us, so I imagine they'd be good for pretty much everyone. Shutters on all the windows keep the place lovely and cool during the day.

The real treat is outside the apartment. Staircases on either side of the apartment take you down to the south-facing pool area - one staircase goes via a sun-kissed patio with table and chairs and a barbecue (where we cooked and ate our tea most evenings), while the other links to two lovely tree-lined and secluded seating areas, where you can sit and watch the sea. The pool gets the sun all day and is visible from the apartment, so if you're with kids you can keep an eye on them from inside.

The pool itself is super. It's about 10 metres long and 1.35m deep, so if you're a long-distance swimmer or training for a triathlon, it might not be quite what you're looking for. But it was perfect for us to swim in and our 6 year-old loved it - spending most of every day splashing around and perfecting her swimming.

When we booked the apartment, it belonged to the previous owners. As soon as Reg took over the ownership, he was in touch to say hi. Ever since, Reg has been prompt and efficient in his replies to our emailed questions and, when he came to visit the villa during our stay, he popped down to chat to get our feedback. Nice.

All in all, a super stay in a super place. We've stayed in a load of villas and apartments over the years and this one is right up there with the best.

Everything we could have asked for!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was lovely, everything we could have asked for and the views were stunning, very relaxing. The location was good a little out of the way but close enough to amenities such that it wasnt a problem and the distance meant it wasnt busy and you could really relax

Appreciate life's finest qualities!

I came across Casa Duran whilst typing "apartment Salobrena" into google, the website itself is informative including plenty of description, it informs you of many of the local events as well as recommending activities close to the apartment. We inquired imminently and the owner Reg got back to me in no time. We booked the apartment extremely last minute and were lucky that there was availability for the weekend. From the moment we first messaged Reg, he was so helpful and hospitable. In our excitement of going on holiday, we forgot to print off the directions and informed Reg that we were lost, he then called to explain the directions which was very kind of him. We arrived to red wine which was a really lovely touch and very much needed after our episode of getting lost.

The photos on the website do not do the apartment any justice, the view is spectacular! The pool is wonderful for dipping and there is a barbecue which we thoroughly enjoyed. We also had a lovely time lounging around in the rubber rings! The place is sensational - a dream - and just what you would need for a detoxing week.

We fell in love with a beach called La Herradura, there is so much to do there such as trying local tapas, paddle boarding, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing etc. We also took a visit to Venta Luciano which was amazing, so much wonderful food and drink and a fantastic flamenco performance showing one of the most expressive forms of dance I have ever witnessed. Although, the Spanish are very laid back so I suggest you do not turn up early like we did! The flamenco show started an hour later than scheduled and meal times in general are a lot later too. You can buy tickets online to secure your places.

We definitely needed longer as we would have liked to spend more time chilling out at the apartment. I would recommend renting a car as it gave us a lot more freedom. We took our sat nav so did not need to rent one out and the car for the three days was a mere £36 so that was a no brainer! Petrol is a lot cheaper than it is in England.

Overall, as an extensive traveller, this was by far one of my most desired places of accommodation with its exquisite beauty and unique character - a place to be shared with loved ones for an extremely memorable experience.

We will no doubt return to this beautiful, stunning place and needless to say, we left with heavy hearts. We would like to stay for a full week next time - and we're bringing friends!
