About the property

Le Grand Claud in Saint-Médard-d'Excideuil - In The Rolling Landscape Of The Northern Dordogne With Spectacular Views - close to shops

This beautiful old stone farmhouse is full of Perigordian charm with a mass of original old oak beams. The 4 bedrooms are on the first floor and the ground floor is tiled throughout with hand-made terracotta tiles to keep it cool on those balmy summer days. Includes Wi-Fi and Satellite TV. This area is steeped in ancient history, with Richard the Lionheart and his love, Eleanor of Aquitaine having stayed at the local château. The massive château of Hautefort is only a 10 minute drive away, this is the most photographed château in France. EURO 2016 - We are a reasonable distance from 6 of the venues. There is 15% off our normal seasonal charges between 4th June and 9th July (minimum stay 2 weeks).

You can tour the whole Dordogne from here and return to tranquillity and a cool dip in your own exclusive pool. Close to outdoor activities such as horse riding, hiking, canoeing, potholing, caving, sightseeing. Located just outside the ancient town of Excideuil, about 1 hour drive from Limoge airport and 1 hour from Perigueux.

Great property in a lovely quiet setting.

  • 5 of 5

Great place for a large family or friends holidaying together. The property was clean and had everything we needed and the owner provided a warm welcome.

A really lovely setting with shops, restaurants and bars within cycling/walking distance or a short drive. Very friendly locals.

Excellent base from which to visit local markets, chateaus and attractions or to enjoy some of the fabulous, well signposted cycle/hiking trails. Of course, the swimming pool was the icing on the cake :)

Owner's Response: Thanks for nice review. Nice to receive a review from our first clients for the Summer after the usual hard work involved in getting the property ready for the start of the season.
