Cottage in Gwbert, Ceredigion, Cardigan, Wales - Right on the Wales Coastal Path with walks to beaches, restaurants and golf

About the Owner

We live in Wales and work in Cardiff but have been coming down to West Wales at holiday time for many years - staying regularly in the nearby Patch Caravan Site.

We try to stay at Golygfa Deg, with our three children and golden retriever Jessie, as often as we can because we love spending family time together in such a beautiful part of the world. Its where we can really relax!!!

We hope you like our pages...

The view was lovely and the kitchen was very well equipped.

  • 4 of 5

There was damp in two of the bedrooms, so much so a dehumidifier in one bedroom was on when we arrived and needed to be emptied daily as it filled with water. This problem was also mentioned by another guest in the "Guest Book". Something should be done about it as it is a health hazard.

Beautiful Golygfa Deg!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in Golygfa Deg. The views are spectacular and ever changing with the time of day, weather, passing boats and visitors to the opposite Poppit Sands. The area has something for everyone coastal walks, two good restaurants within walking distance (the Cliff Hotel was out favourite) and the lovely town of Cardigan close by. We really enjoyed our visit to Cardigan Castle, Mwnt Beach, Poppit Sands and St Dogmaels Farmers Market (great food).

The property had everything we needed, the bed was super comfortable and the games room was great fun.

Booking the property was easy and efficient, the owners were helpful and returned our security deposit promptly.

What a great holiday! Highly recommended :-)

Thank you Antony.

Fabulous place to stay

  • 5 of 5

As soon as you walk into the property and turn towards the main room, the view hits you, it is fantastic. The rest of the property has all you should need.

We spent our evenings sat on the decking, drinking wine, enjoying the views.

And the property is in a great location for getting out and about and exploring. Some great walks along the cliffs, great beaches near by. Dolphins to look out for, (spotted on 4 different occasions). Seals bobbing about

Places to visit, Mwnt, Newquay, Aberporth, Penbryn. St Davids, Fishguard,Newport, Newgale and the local wildlife centre.(otters in the river)

Red Kites and Buzzards all over the place.

Want to come back, there's more to see and do.

Therapeutic holiday

  • 5 of 5

Stress free holiday, it is so beautiful that we felt we could just rest and take in the view. The first holiday in a lifetime that we were happy to sit and stare. No candy stalls and no ubiquitous gift shops near by and Cardigan is within easy distance is a compact town with various interesting shops. The two hotels near by are worth a visit and both sell good food. The cottage is gloriously situated and the patio being a great asset to see the wonderful sunsets. The cottage is adequately equipped. The owner managed our booking very well and we would not hesitate to revisit.

Dolphins and so much more!!!

  • 4 of 5

A wonderfully equipped bungalow in a stunning location. The views are spectacular and it is handily located for visits to everything this beautiful area has to offer. There is even a huge Tesco 10 minutes away in Cardigan for everything you may need.

Make sure you take your binoculars with you (although the owner has supplied a good set of quality binoculars for use in the house) as there is so much amazing wildlife to be seen including the dolphins from the terrace which was one of the highlights of our holiday.

We are hoping to return very soon.....

Location

From the Owner

We love this area for lots of reasons - there are numerous local beaches which are just fantastic with beautiful clear water and great surfing too. We love the variety of wildlife too and have rarely stayed here without seeing the famous bottle nose dolphins from on the beach at Mwnt or while we are walking our dog around the coastal path. For us Gwbert is only a short drive away but when we are there it feels like a real get away from our hectic day to day lives at work and school. It is a magical place for us with so many fond holiday memories....

Special interest holidays:

Gwbert is the perfect destination for walking holidays - several ideas for route options are provided on our website [www.golygfadeg.co.uk]

Coast/Beach:

The Wales Coast Path runs alongside the cottage and a 10 minute walk brings you to a small sandy cove, just past the Cliff Hotel, where you can enjoy a dip or a beach barbecue.

Another beach that we recommend for swimming is Mwnt, which is less than 10 minutes by car and offers parking at the top of the beach in a National Trust car park.

Travel:

Cardigan is less than two hours by car from Cardiff, which has the nearest international airport (a local airport at Withybush is 40 minutes away). The Fishguard car ferry with links to Ireland is around 30 minutes drive while the nearest mainline train station at Carmarthen is about 40 minutes drive. We would say that the use of a car is essential to get the most from your stay at Golygfa Deg.

Facilities

From the Owner

Our cottage is so convenient for the beaches and the local town of Cardigan. Plus the nearby golf course, the coastal path, boat club and two great eateries are within walking distance of the front door. The best bit is the ability to sit on the patio deck at the end of a fun-filled day on the beach with a cold glass of wine and watch the sun set into Cardigan Bay - just bliss!
