About the property

Cottage in Trenoweth, Nr. Falmouth, Cornwall, England - Peaceful Location Yet Short Drive To Falmouth Or The Helford River

Our pictures show only a small part of the view, on a clear day there is something like a 30 mile horizon. It’s a truly magnificent peaceful scene. There are lots of quiet footpaths locally for an evening’s stroll after supper. The accommodation consists of a sitting room with dining area and open fire, fully equipped country pine kitchen, master bedroom with en suite facilities and a large landing/”snug” with games/puzzles etc. All the accommodation is tastefully decorated and furnished to make this the perfect holiday home. There is a pleasant outside area with seating and barbecue. Winter holidays are becoming very popular, pick the right week and you have Cornwall at its best with clear winter light, deserted beaches and coastal paths. The cottage is equipped with three storage heaters which give pleasant background heat with the open fire being the main source of heat; all the fuel supplied and we’ll even light the fire for you if you wish, and of course our winter rates are very attractive! The owner of the property lives in the adjacent cottage and is available to help, offer advice and local knowledge for you to get the very best out of your holiday. We are happy to accommodate one dog only, Free WiFi, Breath-taking views, Cosy open fires, Garden seating area and barbecue, Peaceful – no passing traffic, and Safe car parking.

A lovely, relaxing week away.

  • 4 of 5

Peter always makes us so welcome. Our dog got out of the car last weekend, tail wagging, recognising his surroundings immediately. There is always a welcome tray, containing tea, jam, milk, scones and cream plus a Bonio for Harvey! The cottage is charming and has magnificent views of the coast. We can't wait to go back for what will be our sixth visit. Thank you, Peter!

Very disappointed

  • 1 of 5

We arrived at trispen cottage, we met the very nice charming Peter on the driveway. Unfortunately when we managed to park our car in the very restricted parking area and walked up the very overgrown pathway to the cottage, we was met with an overpowering smell of 'must' when we entered into the cottage, our findings were the cottage hadn't been cleaned properly and it smelt like it hadn't been rented out for years and had just been closed up! Peter agreed that the cottage had deteriorated and gave a full refund, for which I was grateful. I certainly wouldn't recommend this cottage unless you have no sense of smell.

Owner's Response: I'm pleased to have the opportunity to respond to this lady's comments. I will deal with the 'musty' one first. Trispen Cottage is very popular, and is full most weeks of the year, our low rates and open fires make it very popular in winter months. It has very little time to become musty--it is cleaned every Saturday. Had it been noticed, the smell referred to was the same outside, our neighbour is a dairy farm. Visitors love to see the cows grazing outside the window, but there is a downside. If there is activity at the farm then we do get a farmyard smell which does permeate the air for a while, although it has never been mentioned before. To suggest I said our cottage had deteriorated was naughty, since retiring Trispen has been a keen interest in my life, I would never allow it to go downhill. I take great pride in maintaining it and offer what I consider to be excellent accommodation at very competitive rates. One garden path to the cottage is overgrown, but to trim it now would mean cutting off the heads of our lovely hydreangas. There is an alternative path. Her deposit was returned, she had taken the option of not paying the balance until approving the cottage. I'm proud to have a visitors book started many years ago and is full of happy entries, some from people who are on their third or four visit. It was sad not being able to help this unhappy lady. Peter.

Wonderful dog friendly cottage, kind and helpful o

  • 4 of 5

A wonderful find, brilliant price and the ability to bring our dog to visit our daughter who lives in Falmouth. A coal fire lit daily and cream tea and dog biscuit on arrival too. Partnered with lovely weather and beautiful scenery made it a lovely break. Many thanks Peter, hope we can come again!

Wonderful break at Trispen

  • 5 of 5

Having just spent a lovely few days at Trispen Cottage I would highly recommend to anyone who would like to experience the 'real' Cornwall but with main roads and towns only a short distance away. The cottage is homely and comfortable with everything provided for. The owner even came in and lit the fire for us and put the lights on, which was much appreciated when returning on a cold December night.

The views are beautiful and morning walks a must. There is a feeling of proper Cornwall all around and this makes it such a special break and to re-charge the batteries.

The owner is always on hand for advice or just an informative chat.

I would definitely return.

brilliant/outstanding value/warm welcome

  • 5 of 5

We have just come back from a really nice holiday in the Trispen cottage. This cottage has got the best location for the views over the valley and the sea. It is a very cosy place and the open fire place was one of our favourites. Peter very kindly kept the fire going for us when we were out walking and we always came back to a warm cottage. We were also welcomed with Cornish crem tea after our journey from Wiltshire. The area is outstandingly beautiful. We went on several of the suggested walks and made good use of the maps and literature Peter provides in the cottage. We will definitely come back and have already recommended this place to friends. Can't wait for our next holiday in Trispen cottage. Dave & Eva
