Casa Zambra - A Spacious Town House With Lots Of Character In Olvera Old Town

Updated: 26-Aug-2016
Casa Zambra - House in Olvera, Cadiz Province - Inland, Spain - Peaceful And Quiet Despite Being In The Town, Within Walking Distance Of Shops, Bars And Restaurants

Olvera is known as “the King of the Pueblo Blancos” (white towns) and it was declared a Protected Area of Artistic and Historical Importance in 1983. It is a friendly town with a population of around 10,000 and has all the amenities you will need to enjoy your holiday including numerous shops, banks, internet cafe, bars and restaurants. There is also a municipal swimming pool and bar which is open during the summer months. The countryside is varied and stunning with olive groves, rolling hills, lakes, mountains and woodland. Olvera is also the starting point for the Via Verde de la Sierra (green way) one of the many disused railway tracks across Andalucia which have been renovated for use as walking, cycling and horse-riding routes. Bicycle hire is available from the hotel at the start of the route, or you can enjoy an escorted ride on one of the horses from the riding stables next to the hotel.

About the Owner

We live in Duquesa which is down on the coast, about a 2 hour drive from Olvera, and we both work full time in Gibraltar. We own a pure-bred Spanish horse and I enjoy riding at weekends (no time in the week unfortunately!). We love living in Spain and are looking forward to retiring to Casa Zambra in a few years time!

Wunderschöne Lage, traumhaftes Haus, tolle Betreuung

  • 5 of 5

From the Owner

We purchased our other house in Olvera (Casa Andalus) in 2010. Whilst we love the house we felt it is a little too small to live in permanently so we decided to buy a ruin and renovate it. We found a perfect place which unfortunately was in too poor a condition to renovate so we had it demolished and rebuilt. We have spent ages putting the finishing touches to the house and we hope you love it as much as we do!

We can arrange bird watching, horse riding and pottery courses - just let us know what your interests are and we will try to help

A car is not essential but recommended to appreciate the surrounding areas and the many places to visit. However, there is a bus station in Olvera and you can get the bus to Seville, Ronda amongst other places

The town is the perfect base for you to explore this beautiful unspoilt area of Andalucia. There are many places to visit within an hour’s drive including Seville, Jerez de la Frontera, Ronda and Antequera. If you don’t mind driving a little further you can visit Cordoba, Cadiz or Malaga. Closer to home, the stunning villages of Grazalema, Zahara de la Sierra, Setenil de las Bodegas and Montajaque are well worth exploring.
