House in Trelill, Nr. Wadebridge, Cornwall, England - Peaceful, Rural Location. Close To Port Isaac And The Beaches And Coast Of North Cornwall

Merrymeet House is set in the hamlet of Trelill. It is beautiful stone built Victorian house with plenty of space for up to eight people. It is ideal for a large family, two families or a large group of friends. There are four double bedrooms, one en suite, and a family bathroom. Throughout there are traditional features including slate and wooden floors downstairs, a log burning stove, and a Rayburn. Built in the 1870's, it has been restored to a very high standard. It stands in the centre of a village that is in the heart of the farming community, yet only a short distance from from the fishing villages and surfing beaches this area is famous for. Merrymeet has a very peaceful and tranquil atmosphere, ideal for unwinding and relaxing at ant time of the year. There are three separate sitting areas as well as a dining area and large kitchen.There are rugs on the slate and wooden floors, whilst art work adorns the walls, mostly by local artists. Sit and chat by the log burner if it is chilly or in the lounge for reading, listening to music or playing a board game.There is another lounge that has Sky TV and a DVD player. Outside there are delightful gardens surrounding the property. They offer shady places to sit, patios for morning coffee, afternoon tea or G and T's. There is a large lawn for sunbathing or games and a BBQ area.There are a variety of trees and shrubs that give colour all the year round and attract the birds.In the spring and early summer the wild and cottage garden flowers give a quintessentially Cornish feel. Children will love the play area, with swings, a playhouse and ladders(strict supervision required!) There is a recently landscaped slate and granite patio and garden that is great for alfresco dining. There is off-street parking behind double farm gates to the side of the garden.This is the place to come if you are family, or a group of friends seeking beaches, activities, pubs and restaurants but also a relaxing place to return to.

Great cottage,plenty of room but also cosy especially with the wood burning fire. Everything you need is provided. Obviously a great deal of thought has gone into this cottage.



We thought the cottage was absolutely charming and beautiful.

You have thought of everything in terms of cooking,eating and comfort. We have had a truly lovely time.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

The house is within a 15 -20 minutes drive of local beaches which include Polzeath , Daymer Bay and Rock which are popular for surfing ,wind surfing and sailing. There are plenty of opportunities for walking along the coastal path and for exploring the coves and rock pools along the coast. At Port Isaac(10 Mins) you can pick up the SW Coastal path and experience an authentic Cornish fishing village.

Travel:

The house is easily accessible from the A30, A39 and A38 main roads through Cornwall. It is 20 miles from Newquay Airport.

Distances:

The villages of St Kew, St Teath, Chapel Amble and Port Isaac are within a few miles drive of the house. Boscastle and Tintagel can also be reached in about 20 minutes.

The bustling town of Wadebridge is 5 miles away which can meet all shopping needs.

Padstow can be easily reached by car or via the passenger ferry from Rock ( 8 miles from the house) or by bicycle along the Camel Trail.

Slightly further afield , the Eden Project can be reached in about 45 minutes as can St Ives.

Further Details:

There are many National Trust properties nearby including Lanhydrock House.

There are local shops at St Kew Highway, 2 miles away which include a small supermarket and Post office,pasty shop and petrol station. A further mile towards Wadebridge is St Kew Harvest, a farm shop selling local organic produce.

Wadebridge has cafes, restaurants ,independent shops, bakers, butchers, newsagents, banks and the larger supermarkets. There are many places to hire cycles to explore the Camel trail.

In June it is home to the Royal Cornwall Show.

The south coast of the county is very accessible and days out to Fowey, St Mawes and Lostwithiel for example are easily manageable.

There are many excellent pubs and restaurants locally, including the St Kew Inn (great food) ,St Tudy Inn and The Maltsters at Chapel Amble. Padstow and the surrounding area has become synonymous with Rick Stein. His outlets, including the Seafood Restaurant and fish and chip shop are all good. The chefs Nathan Outlaw and Paul Ainsworth(No. 6) also have excellent restaurants.

Further afield there is Newquay,Truro, St Ives, Penzance and Falmouth, all achievable in a day.

Booking Notes:
Booking can be made by email or phone. A deposit of 20% is made upon booking and the balance payable 4 weeks before the holiday commences. Also a breakage deposit of £100 needs to be paid at the time of booking . Payment can be made by cheque or bank transfer.
During peak season and school holidays we prefer bookings for a full week. Short breaks are available out of season.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. Arrival time is after 4 pm and departure time is 10 am.
Out of season the changeover day can be more flexible.

5 nights @ 80% of weekly tariff
