About the Owner

We are a family of 5 living in Newcastle , and have always loved the Northumberland coast. We were lucky enough to buy the cottage a few years ago in the building renovations stage and were thrilled with the amount of outside garden space which is such a rarity in a cottage. Having children ourselves, we understand how important it is to have plenty of things for them to do and we have made sure the cottage is well equipped for that purpose ! We hope our guests have a lovely time in the cottage and are on hand in the unlikely case any problems arise.

The property was first class ideal for small children.

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time, the weather was good and it was lovely having a nice big garden for the grandchildren to play in before heading to the beach. The house was first class, the only comment would be the washing machine was,not that easy to work. We would go back again.

Owner's Response: Hi thanks for your review . We are glad the children enjoyed the garden : it is fabulous and unusual to have such large enclosed gardens with the cottage Sorry you found the washing machine difficult to use -instructions for all the appliances are in the cottage : I hope you found them . We hope you will visit again .

Great property with lovely big garden. Ideal for families with children. 10 minutes walk to the beach.

When we arrived there was no welcome note or information folder left out so we asked the neighbour for info where to shop etc... later found the folder in a draw in the livingroom. So it felt a bit lacking in personal/ welcoming touch. A few better pots and frying pans in the kitchen would have been great, but overall this really is a great property and Northumberland is quiet enough even in high season! Would recommend a stay!

Fabulous accomodation in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely weeks holidays and would highly recommend this property for anybody visiting the area. The cottage is very spacious, well laid out and cosy. Kids loved the trampoline and large back garden and also the table tennis provided. The cottage is like a home from home and the owner provided excellent customer service.

Islestone Cottage

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at Islestone Cottage. We had some very young family members in the party and the facilities both accommodation and catering were just what we expected from the description. There are more than enough places to visit from Beadnell and we intend to return to further explore the area. The beach is great on a fine day and provides safe bathing due to the shallow sloping beach and to some degree is sheltered from wind from the north. The beach can be reached from the cottage through the adjacent field and through the caravan site although you do need to watch out for the bull. Further afield Alnwick Castle is definitely worth a visit and Cragside is a very interesting house with all its fascinating early domestic developments.

We got quick resources from the owners on a few questions we asked prior to our stay.

Some points for improvement. It would have been easier to find with a simple description from the main road as the cottage is at the end of a lane effectively in the middle of a field. Some of the items in the cottage were broken or coming to the end of their life and would have been best replaced or removed eg some of the games indoor and outdoor equipment and the legs on one of the living room chairs were loose. Some of the family complained a little on the comfort of mattresses as the springs could be felt through the mattress cover.

Owner's Response: Hi Thank you for your review we are glad you had a lovely time . Apologies if some of the games equipment or toys were damaged in any way - sometimes they get a lot of use in the peak summer months but we do replace on an ongoing basis . We will update the directions . As you really rightly point out the cottage has a unique position at the end of a private road with views towards the beach . This can make it slightly harder to find . We hope to welcome you back in the future Best wishes Heather Johnson

Islestone Cottage, Beadnell

  • 4 of 5

Lovely cottage, ideal location 10 min walk to fabulous quiet beach.

The cottage was in excellent condition all modern amenities, underfloor heating kept nice and warm.

The only reason we did not give 5 stars as garden furniture needs renewing, garden table a bit rickety so did not use.

Overall a great holiday and look forward to visiting again.

Location

From the Owner

We bought in Beadnell as the beaches around this area are second to none. As soon as you turn of the A1 and start to see the sea, you start to relax and de stress. The cottage itself is in a fantastic area- far enough away to have privacy and peace and yet very close to all the amenities. There is lots to do and we have an information pack in the cottage for guest's use.

Facilities

From the Owner

The cottage was recently converted - some of the property is the farmhouse and some of it the converted barn. The design of it works really well and in the main reception rooms light floods in from both the front and the back of the house . The gardens are fantastic ,particularly in the Summer.
