3 bedroom,3 bathrooms with heated pool - Elegantly Renovated Maison De Maitre, Heated Pool & Garden In Historic Village And Rural Setting
Maison Valentine is a large, spacious and stylishly renovated 18th Century Maison de Maitre built in the Napoleonic era. The house is beautifully proportioned with high ceilings and wide hallways and is decorated to a very high standard with a contemporary but classic feel. There is a private, heated Romanesque swimming pool, an enclosed garden with large terrace and al fresco eating area. The decoration is classic with a contemporary feel with a well-equipped kitchen and open-plan dining room. The farmhouse table seats 6 comfortably, plus a further 4 around the central island of the kitchen and a supplementary tables and 4 chairs are available from the roomy pantry and storage area which runs the length of one side of the house. The beamed living room feels cosy in the evening and in the winter is warmed by one of the two wood burning stoves. Up the winding wooden staircase, the two main bedrooms are very large and airy with high ceilings, although the more cottage feel of the back bedroom, which overlooks the garden, is a particular favourite with our children and many of our house guests. All bedrooms are fitted with en suite bathrooms. The front of the house overlooks the historic church in the centre of the medieval village of Castet Arrouy. Located in a peaceful and rural setting, the house is on the old walking route of Chemin de Santiago de Compostela which passes directly in front of the house. The surrounding area is known as 'the Tuscany of France' for its miles of rolling landscapes which in the Summer are awash with sunflowers. 10 minutes from the N21 motorway it is served by 4 airports, the nearest being Toulouse (an hour away), but Bordeaux, Bergerac and Carcasonne are all under two hours drive. 5 mins from neighbouring Lectoure, and close to the Armagnac capital, Condom, as well as the busy market town of Fleurance, the house is in the heart of Gascony, rightly famous for its fantastic local produce and vineyards. There are at markets in the local area every day of the week. The oldest inhabited region of Europe, this area also boasts the most chateaux of anywhere in the country and a wealth of cultural heritage. But the area around Lectoure is particularly favoured by hikers and walkers for its outstanding natural beauty. Near to the house is a swimming lake for days when you want a change from the pool.

A Little Piece Of Paradise
About the Owner
We bought Maison Valentine because we fell in love with the both the house and the area. We've looked at lots of properties over the years thinking 'wouldn't it be nice...' but there's something magical about Maison Valentine that made us stick our necks out and dream. It's definitely lived up to its name. We've fallen in love with it. For Will, it's not only been a been a chance to unwind and get into a different rhythm – he's a percussionist and composer – but to get in touch with his French side for the first time. Our kids love it too. And we hope you will too.

A Little Piece Of Paradise
I have only wonderful things to say about Maison Valentine. Myself and my family spent one of the most relaxing weeks I have had in many years there. the house itself is beautiful. It rests in a sleepy village in one of my favourite regions of France. There is a little restaurant literally a stones throw from the front door. A great place for a relaxing lunch, or dinner after a day by the pool, it's owners were friendly, and very welcoming. If you are looking for a place to relax, unwind in beautiful surroundings this is the place for you. We plan to return, so I guess you can't get any better recommendation than that!!! Enjoy!!! Thank You Will and Sukie for sharing your wonderful home. See you again soon!!!!
A great house in a very special region
We had a extremely pleasant holiday in this very special house. Everything was as promised on the web site. The house was special, but what really made our holiday was the beauty of the village, the breath taking scenery of this area of France, the kindness of the people and the many beautiful old towns and villages. We were met on arrival; we had a contact in the village should we need any assistance and we had pleasant weather. What more can we ask for?
Beautiful house, beautiful location
The house is spacious and beautiful - even without spotting Sukey's books you could tell it had been designed by someone with a keen artistic eye! Castet-Arrouy is in a lovely area - worth spending a morning at Larressingle stopping off in Condom on the way back for some lunch. Nadine, who keeps an eye on the property, was charming and responsible for not only some lovely food at the restaurant a couple of doors down, but also refreshing our French as the menu is spoken not written! Our daughter loved the pool and having an 'explore'. A great family break - we would return.
Maison Valentine is set in a most idyllic part of rural France. It's in a beautiful location with stunning scenery of rolling hills on its approach. The house, garden and pool are magical and set in a traditional French village with a cafe/restaurant and exquisite church. With an hour and 1/2 flight and then an hours drive from Toulouse it's amazingly easy to get to from London. We had a fabulous time buying food from the market in Fleurance, cooking and then sitting around the pool in the warm evenings and emerged after a week thoroughly relaxed. Loved it, thank you so much, hopefully we will return.
Family Get Together in the Country
The property is roomy and has been renovated and furnished to a high standard. We were a party of 6 adults + a 4 month old baby and came from London and Sydney and the property was just the right size for us.
There is a large patio area and new swimming pool in the back garden where we chilled out.
The property is next door but one to a small village restaurant with tables and chairs under the trees in a small square outside an ancient church serving good and reasonably priced food and wine. The pilgrim walking route runs along the quiet road outside.
The property is well situated for touring around the very attractive villages and countryside in the area. Will, the owner was very friendly and helpful.
Because of the pool this property is probably not so suitable for families with young children (as opposed to babies or older teenagers)
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend this property
Wonderful Family Holiday
What a magical spot this is . . .the sun shone for us for 10 days straight! The house is elegant, light, airy and spacious and just a pleasure to be in. There's a mature garden, with pretty areas to laze as the sun moves throughout the day and the pool is new and sparkling. Great kitchen, easy to cook in and well equipped, as is the rest of the house. We ate outside, which was lovely. This village is charming, sleepy with a very old church and a great little cafe with chairs in the square and friendly locals. To get there you drive through hills of sunflowers, vines, cep woods and French farm houses with pigeonniers! And the hill-towns nearby have great markets, restaurants and bars. It was a great family holiday.
From the Owner
“We first fell in love with this area three years ago when we spent a week on the Canal du midi.We loved it so much that the following year we decided to re visit the area again and this time we stayed in the beautiful town called 'Condom'.During this holiday we found our house 'Maison Valentine although I sometimes think that Maison Valentine found us! Buying a house in another country can be a scary thing as one can never be sure that you'll be accepted into the community, but I have to say that the lovely folk in our little village of Castet-Arrouy have accepted us with open arms and have been a huge support to us settling in and helping to maintain our house and garden.”
