Free WiFi; all utilities, bed linens and towels included. Situated to the south of the B1253 between the pretty villages of Boynton and Rudston, the area of Low Caythorpe is steeped in archaeological history from medieval times. The house is approached via a private fenced drive with parking for several cars. Local pubs include the Bluebell at Burton Agnes and St Quintons Arms at Harpham. The beautiful sea side town of Bridlington (with it's famous resident David Hockney) is 3 miles away and Scarborough is just 12 miles, both definitely worth a day out with lots for all the family. The beautiful Victorian town of Filey with its stunning promenade and magnificent 5 miles of golden sands is a lovely resort to visit on route to Scarborough. Much of the local Yorkshire Wolds/Woods have been the subject of Hockney's paintings. Burton Agnes Hall - Built between 1598 and 1610 by Sir Henry Griffith, Burton Agnes Hall is an Elizabethan stately home that has seen fifteen generations fill the Hall with treasures, from magnificent carvings commissioned when the Hall was built to French impressionist paintings, contemporary furniture, tapestries and other modern artwork in recent years. Simon Jenkins, author of England's Thousand Best Houses, described Burton Agnes Hall as ‘the perfect English house’ and as one of the twenty best English houses alongside Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace and Chatsworth House. Sledmere House - There is something about the charm of Sledmere which has captivated visitors for over 200 years. Whether you just want a relaxing day looking around the gardens enjoying lunch in the Terrace Café or want to look at fine examples of art and architecture there is something for everyone at Sledmere. RSPB Bempton Cliffs - easily the best place in England to see, hear and smell seabirds! More than 200,000 birds (from April to August) make the cliffs seem alive - with adults bringing food to their nests, or young chicks making their first faltering flights. With huge numbers to watch, beginners can easily learn the difference between gannets, guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and fulmars. The easily recognisable puffins (here between April and July) are always a delight. Sewerby Hall - situated 2 miles north of the seaside resort of Bridlington, on the East Yorkshire coast. The grade I listed country house is set in 50 acres of landscaped gardens in a cliff top location on the outskirts of Sewerby village. As well as the Hall, there are gardens, a small zoo and other attractions. Get directions.

Lovely break for all the family
We've just spent a long weekend at Foreman's House with a family of 9. The property was very spacious and beautifully presented. It's also close to the coast for some great walks etc. We really enjoyed ourselves and many thanks to June and Liz for being such good hosts. We're planning on coming back soon.

Spacious, comfortable and well equipped
Seven adults, family, had a great time here. Very comfy place with room for everyone to do as they pleased. Enjoyed a barbecue in spacious garden with good views. Village of Rudstone interesting plus other previously unknown historical sights. Wolds are beautiful and the Coast is close by. All helped by glorious weather. Cheery welcome and a wave goodbye from Liz plus excellent cake.

Great for family get togethers
This was our second stay in Foreman's House and it was every bit as good as before. All you could need is provided, including games and books. We even discovered Netflix this time. There is enough space so that you are not all on top of one another and two lounges means that there is for the children to play in and another if adults want to have a bit of peace and quiet. We are hoping to return next year.

Fantastic house
This is a superb property, even better than the photos indicate. All the furniture, towels and equipment were of very high quality. There is ample room for a large party. We were a family group of 8 adults, 4 and a young baby. Two of the bedrooms were large enough for a child to sleep on a ready bed which we took with us, so they could stay in with their parents. Everything you could think of was provided and there were more than enough glasses. crockery and cutlery for everyone to use. Plastic plates and cups were also provided for use by the children or in the garden. The dishwasher proved very useful. The situation of the house is ideal for driving to the beach and parking in the park and ride. It is also not far from the supermarkets, Aldi, and Morrisons. The whole family felt very comfortable and would like to return.

A special home from home
You couldn't ask for more from a rental property. We were a group of 10 family members ranging in age from 17-82 years of age. Everyone was catered for, from the Wi-Fi to the downstairs walk in shower. Everything was as described in the holiday listing. Warm, comfortable (what beds!) clean and excellent quality throughout. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the owners, they were a pleasure to deal with. I wouldn't hesitate to give this property the highest recommendation. We hope to return. Whilst your there try and get to visit Burton Agnes Hall, it was a superb outing.. Also RSPB Bempton Cliffs, we were there in time to see puffins!

Host profile image
I am an outdoorsy active mummy with a passion for brilliant travel experiences which last a lifetime. I hope that my recent giving up of Geoggers teaching to run my own lovely holiday home is a good move as I wish to please others and make them realize East Yorkshire is very much a hidden gem for seaside ness and fun and treasured days out.
I live on a farm in a fab location and have beautiful Hockney views out of my bedroom window which I appreciate every time I look outside and think everyone deserves. I love sport and I consider myself a rugby supporter thanks to my lovely partner and Tobes my added on son.I love a good park run on a Saturday morning and have a great run on our doorstep although I very much hate it when trotting along myself. Look forward to meeting you!

Why they chose this property

We are located on a farm the outskirts of a small rural traditional Yorkshire village which the artist David Hockney has painted for years because of its natural rural beauty. To be honest I can't put into words how magical this place is with lots to suit every walk of life. The beautiful Foremans House was facing dereliction yet received the TLC it deserves. We are 4 miles drive or a 15 minute easy bike ride to the sandy which disappears to the horizon, RSPB Bemton Cliffs the home of thousands of sea bird is a spectacular sight with rock pools, caves and tranquil coves very close too.The historical houses of Burton Agnes and Sledmere are on our doorstep. So whether it is a log burner to snuggle by or days of outdoor adventure I think we can deliver it in buckets and spades.

What makes this property unique

We have a fantastic garden and patio which is surrounded by open countryside and views of Hockney's Woldgate Woods, fab outdoor furniture and BBQ. The house is truly top notch luxury with underfloor heating, Aga electric range and beautiful wood burner in the living room. The kitchen is a colossal homage to the farmhouse kitchen and is a heart of this home and seats 12.We have an entertainment snug suitable for children and very much welcome children on your holiday. My childhood memories are based here and I this is a beautiful adventure for little people. The bathrooms are both traditional yet modern and offer a bit of an oasis of pleasure. We know how much sleep matters and have the best mattresses we could find to ensure you are refreshed and re-energized whilst staying here. Be our guest
