Change over day is Saturday. Situated on Browns Hill, one of the original stepped entrances to Dartmouth, is a recently refurbished, terraced cottage in the centre of this picturesque town. Sleeps 4 (2 Bedrooms). Twenty Browns Hill is a recently refurbished cottage situated in the heart of Dartmouth on a secluded terrace off Browns Hill Steps. Purchased by the current owners in 2013, the property has undergone an extensive refurbishment to a very high standard. The accommodation comprises a modern, open plan living and kitchen area on the ground floor. On the first floor you will find a roomy double bedroom with en-suite shower room, and a modern, family bathroom. The twin bedroom on the second floor enjoys views over the rooftops of Dartmouth to the Castle and Kingswear. Your holiday cottage is fully centrally heated and is moments away from Dartmouth’s unique shops, galleries, restaurants and the stunning River Dart estuary. Free wireless broadband is provided. A car park pass is provided throughout the year for your convenience.

Outside: The kitchen opens onto a small outside terrace. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: Towels, tea towels and bedlinen are provided. Please bring your own beach towels.

Hidden gem

Our holiday began as we climbed the steps of the famous Browns Hill to find this hidden gem. The welcome gift was lovely to find especially the scones and cream. The cottage is light, bright and well designed throughout which makes it feel spacious. We quickly felt at home, with our daughters enjoying their roof top window seat with a view. The cottage is minutes from the heart of Dartmouth, where we spent most evenings strolling around and watching the boats. There's plenty of places to eat, as well as the market where Mark Lobb sold us fresh fish and taught us how to dress a crab, which filled a wet afternoon with fun. Overall the cottage was a lovely homely place to return to each day.

Beautiful Cottage

An excellent cottage with a very welcoming and generous welcome pack. No direct access from the car but it was easy enough to stop the car at the foot of the bank and carry the luggage up to the cottage, then park the car in the car park using the pass provided. Very clean, comfortable and well thought out cottage with everything you could need provided. Comfortable beds, quiet nights, and 1or 2minutes stroll from some excellent shops, restaurants and pubs in the waterfront of Dartmouth. Thoroughly recommended.

Beautiful cottage in the heart of Dartmouth. Only 5 minutes walk from the harbour, and even closer to shops and restaurants. Cottage has a luxurious and homely feel with all the mod cons. We felt right at home. Would highly recommend this property.

Lovely Dartmouth

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Dartmouth. The cottage was very nice and so convenient for the town,we didn't use the car all week. We think Dartmouth is a super place, plenty to do, steam train, paddle steamer, shops and lots more, would highly recommend.

A lovely property!

This is a real gem. The location is superb! The fact there isn't a parking space outside was not an issue as the car park is just down the road.

There's everything you could need. It's really clean and it's been finished to a high quality.

New Year in Dartmouth

This was our 3rd visit to this property and the reason we keep returning is it being so well maintained, its facilities,being very cosy and close to all shops and activities in Dartmouth.We had looked at other locations to spend the New Year but this property plus Dartmouth drew us back like a magnet.The property is exceptional and standards have been maintained since we first visited 2 years ago.We would like to thank the owners for the goodies of chocolates and a bottle of wine which was eagerly consumed. To anyone thinking of visiting Dartmouth in 2017 make this property your first choice you will not be disappointed.

Location

Coast/Beach:

Dartmouth itself has two small coves (Castle Cove and Sugary Cove) close to its Castle, which is a 1 mile walk (or short boat ride) from the centre of town. The famous Blue Flag beach of Blackpool Sands is only 15 minute drive away with a super cafe/restaurant, whilst Slapton Sands, offering a 3 mile stretch of pebble beach, is a further 5 minutes away. Bigbury on Sea beach is a sandy beach within an area of outstanding natural beauty and is just over 30 minutes drive from Dartmouth.

Travel:

Nearest airport is at Exeter (40 miles). Nearest railway station is Totnes (12 miles away), with a bus service to Dartmouth. National rail services also to Paignton with bus service to Kingswear. Whilst the town itself has lots to offer the holidaymaker, a car would be recommended if you wish to explore the surrounding area.

Further Details:

Dartmouth is situated in the unspoilt South Hams, in Devon, and the area is a wonderful destination, offering something for everyone. You can wander around Dartmouth’s quaint, cobbled streets, visiting its galleries and individual shops and cafes, enjoy a boat trip out to sea, or down river to historic Totnes or Dittisham. Take the ferry across the river to Kingswear and catch a steam train ride on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway. A walk, or boat ride, to Dartmouth Castle affords wonderful views of the town, the river and the coast beyond and the Britannia Royal Naval College perches on the hill providing a majestic backdrop to the historic streets and alleyways within the town itself. You may wish to while away a lazy afternoon watching the activity on the busy waterfront, or try your hand at crabbing off the Embankment. Dartmouth enjoys many great restaurants and pubs, or if you want to eat in, the town has an M&S food and a Co-op store as well as delicatessens and bakeries to tempt you. The town enjoys a cinema/arts centre, museum, gardens, tennis courts, park with children’s play area and a tourist information centre which can provide information on local attractions, places to visit, and events taking place in the town and surrounding area.

On our doorstep is the award winning shingle beach at Blackpool Sands (4 miles away), with the 3 mile stretch of pebble beach at Slapton Sands a further 5 minutes’ drive beyond that. The National Trust properties of “Greenway” (Agatha Christie’s former home) and Coleton Fishacre (an Arts and Crafts style house built for Rupert D’Oyly Carte) are close by. Dittisham, Totnes, Dartmoor and the South Hams and Torbay areas are easily reached for those who want to explore the surrounding area. Woodlands Family Theme Park is on the outskirts of the town, open March to November.

Booking Notes:
Booking by telephone or email. Money to be paid in full if booking within 6 weeks of stay. If more than 6 weeks we require a £60 (£100 in high season) deposit to secure the booking with full balance to be paid 6 weeks before your stay. Payments to be made by bank transfer or cheque (allowing 7 days to clear). A security deposit of £100 is requested with, and in addition to, the full balance. Deposits are non refundable. If the booking is cancelled within 6 weeks of arrival no refund will be provided. We recommend that you take out the appropriate travel insurance to avoid disappointment.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. Check out by 10 am and check in after 3 pm.

A deposit of £60 per week (£100 for peak weeks) is required to secure the booking. The balance is then due 6 weeks before arrival along with a refundable security deposit of £100
