About the property

Tree House/Chalet in Nine Wells, Solva, Pembrokeshire, Wales - Peaceful Location, 5 Minutes Walk To The Sea And Safe Cove To Swim In

The Tree House, as its name implies, is built amongst the treetops. A gnarled apple tree branch burrows its way into the external steps and hawthorn flanks the south side. Set behind the owner's house in her own grounds, steep wooden steps lead into this unique property. The light and tranquil lounge has French doors opening onto a decked sitting area, with hammock, perfect for bird watching. Simple, yet comfortable furnishings compliment the exposed wooden floor boards and calming but cosy atmosphere - in fact this was the studio of acclaimed artist Peter Daniels. A short walk through a wooded valley owned by the National Trust, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation, following a pretty stream with a pond leads to a quiet and sheltered cove, perfect for swimming, coasteering or fishing. Located between Solva and Cerfai beach this is a perfect setting for that simple retreat with or without children!

Please note: bookings of under 3 days incur an additional cleaning fee of £35.

About Elizabeth Daniels

Elizabeth and her family moved here 30 yrs ago, working and bringing up her family in such idyllic surroundings have been a privilege we never take for granted. Its lovely to be able to share it with others who come on holiday here.

I am now a mindfulness teacher and also teach children in the surrounding schools a wonderful course called .b.

Elizabeth Daniels purchased this chalet in 1980

Why Elizabeth Daniels chose St Brides Bay, St Davids & The West Coast

My husband was a painter and we ran a gallery from our home, my husbands studio was what is now The Tree House.

What sold the property to us was that we could just walk out of our house with a cup of coffee in hand and walk out into such beauty. My husband painted this valley over and over again.

What makes this chalet unique

The Tree House is located in a valley that is designated an SSSI (site of special scientific interest) as well as being a SAC (special area of conservation)

Porth Y Rhaw cove sheltered and safe to swim in. Site of discovery of largest trilobite and best example of a coastal Iron Age fort. (great for grass sliding) http://www.pemcoastphotos.com/_photo_3099950.html

Enjoy swimming and diving and jumping in natural deep rock pool.

Discover Elephants Head cove.

The entire headland just to the north of and next to Porth y Rhaw is shaped like the head of an elephant complete with a trunk of rocks weaving out into the ocean. The mouth is a natural arch through the headland which if the tide is right and there is a reasonable swell creates a blow hole that spews a fountain of water from its opening. It was compared to Wookey Hole in Somerset by a travel writer in the 50’s. She said people would flock to it in the future…… still a well kept secret.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“My husband and I could not have asked for a better location. We loved being just steps away from the coast and the coastal trail. We loved the location relative to Solva where we walked along the coast to and from dinner a few nights. The hand drawn map Elizabeth made is pretty handy too; we spent plenty of time exploring the immediate coastline near the house. The house itself is cute, plenty for the two of us for a week. Others have commented that the house needed some updates, but that didn't bother us. We simply thought the house had character. This is definitely a lovely spot if you are looking to get away and enjoy the outdoors. ”

Idyllic peaceful retreat close to the sea

  • 5 of 5

My husband and our 16 month old son just had the most perfect 3 night beak at this wonderful location. The tree house is a rustic warm and cosy chalet located at the bottom of the owner's garden. It is a 5 minute walk from the sea and the picturesque Pembrokeshire coastal path. It is a perfect base from which to explore by car or on foot. The house is basic but well equipped and our son had a great time romping around both inside and out. Elizabeth was a warm welcoming host and I would highly recommend this wonderful place.

Rustic charm

  • 5 of 5

The Tree House is a special place and Elizabeth is a wonderful host. Location wise the property has it all, close to sea, beach, towns, countryside. The setting is idyllic with a beautiful meadow at the back of the property with sea views and only a short 10 minute stroll to a safe cove and headland walk. The accommodation itself is basic but comfortable providing all you need for anything up to a couple of weeks' holiday. Elizabeth was very warm and accommodating, even dog sitting for us while we visited Skomer. We could not have asked for more from either accommodation or host. We shall be back. Thank you Elizabeth!

A second peaceful and relaxing holiday.

  • 3 of 5

We have just returned from a second peaceful and relaxing holiday in The Tree House. The area is wonderful - a short walk through beautiful countryside to the coastal path and the breathtaking coast.

The house is simply but comfortably furnished and the kitchen well equipped.

The heating system is excellent and there is always instant hot water.

Clear and concise information regarding the "quirks" of the house are provided together with useful maps of walks in the area.

The owner, Elizabeth, is very approachable, friendly and accommodating.

We hope to return again for a 3rd stay.
