Overview

About the property

Tree House/Chalet in Nine Wells, Solva, Pembrokeshire, Wales - Peaceful Location, 5 Minutes Walk To The Sea And Safe Cove To Swim In

The Tree House, as its name implies, is built amongst the treetops. A gnarled apple tree branch burrows its way into the external steps and hawthorn flanks the south side. Set behind the owner's house in her own grounds, steep wooden steps lead into this unique property. The light and tranquil lounge has French doors opening onto a decked sitting area, with hammock, perfect for bird watching. Simple, yet comfortable furnishings compliment the exposed wooden floor boards and calming but cosy atmosphere - in fact this was the studio of acclaimed artist Peter Daniels. A short walk through a wooded valley owned by the National Trust, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation, following a pretty stream with a pond leads to a quiet and sheltered cove, perfect for swimming, coasteering or fishing. Located between Solva and Cerfai beach this is a perfect setting for that simple retreat with or without children!

About Elizabeth Daniels

Elizabeth and her family moved here 30 yrs ago, working and bringing up her family in such idyllic surroundings have been a privilege we never take for granted. Its lovely to be able to share it with others who come on holiday here.

I am now a mindfulness teacher and also teach children in the surrounding schools a wonderful course called .b.

Elizabeth Daniels purchased this chalet in 1980

Why Elizabeth Daniels chose Saint David's

My husband was a painter and we ran a gallery from our home, my husbands studio was what is now The Tree House.

What sold the property to us was that we could just walk out of our house with a cup of coffee in hand and walk out into such beauty. My husband painted this valley over and over again.

What makes this chalet unique

The Tree House is located in a valley that is designated an SSSI (site of special scientific interest) as well as being a SAC (special area of conservation)

Porth Y Rhaw cove sheltered and safe to swim in. Site of discovery of largest trilobite and best example of a coastal Iron Age fort. (great for grass sliding) http://www.pemcoastphotos.com/_photo_3099950.html

Enjoy swimming and diving and jumping in natural deep rock pool.

Discover Elephants Head cove.

The entire headland just to the north of and next to Porth y Rhaw is shaped like the head of an elephant complete with a trunk of rocks weaving out into the ocean. The mouth is a natural arch through the headland which if the tide is right and there is a reasonable swell creates a blow hole that spews a fountain of water from its opening. It was compared to Wookey Hole in Somerset by a travel writer in the 50’s. She said people would flock to it in the future…… still a well kept secret.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“My husband and I could not have asked for a better location. We loved being just steps away from the coast and the coastal trail. We loved the location relative to Solva where we walked along the coast to and from dinner a few nights. The hand drawn map Elizabeth made is pretty handy too; we spent plenty of time exploring the immediate coastline near the house. The house itself is cute, plenty for the two of us for a week. Others have commented that the house needed some updates, but that didn't bother us. We simply thought the house had character. This is definitely a lovely spot if you are looking to get away and enjoy the outdoors. ”

Found this place by chance and my goodness staying at this wonderful place owned by a lady called Elizabeth who has the most beautiful soul has helped me so much .I actually sat down with a coffee opened a book and started to relax ,i havnt done this in years this place is so quiet on your ears ,the views and proximity to the most gorgeous little cove is out of this world .so many walks and places to visit around this place ,but coming back to the tree house having a hot shower a glass of wine and lying in the garden hammock looking at that beautiful sky and no noise from anywhere was worth its weight in gold for us .it's a fabulous little cabin equipt with everything u need to leave the stresses of life behind you .if you do come here you will be definitely be back for more .we came back today and have already been looking for the NXT free week to go .it's owned by a wonderful lady called Elizabeth who has so much knowledge on this very sacred land were the tree house is located and the local area she is someone whom you could talk to for hours ,but if you have forgotten anything or she can help you in any way she will .we are just learning how to meditate and this place was the definitely the right one to learn in as no noise is key ingredient when you are starting out .thankyou Elizabeth .we will be back .

Tree House, Ninewells, quaint and rustic in beautiful location.

  • 4 of 5

My three kids and I loved the location of this property. Just off the Pembrokeshire coastal path and with its own sheltered cove to explore and a fabulous rope swing in the garden - lots of fun! The property itself is plenty big enough for 4 people and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The sofa bed in the living room however could do with updating as the mattress was a little thin and tired - not comfy enough for my 16 year old! The Wi-Fi situation was another little problem for my kids (although not for me), as the signal within the house was not great for anyone who can't tear themselves away from modern life! However, other than these minor issues, I would recommend this property for anyone wanting to spend a while in the peace and quiet of this amazing part of the country. The property is full of books, and maps, and information leaflets on places to visit, and Elizabeth, our host, gave us a warm and friendly welcome, and was on hand with advice on the local area. Overall we had a wonderful week and would definitely visit again.

Owner's Response: Glad to report that the WiFi situation has been solved with a Wi Fi extender that works perfectly. I hope teenagers will be reassured!

Magical, peaceful, sweet & quirky. Beautifully relaxing. Not high end, high rope swing!

We loved staying in the Tree House. We felt at home straight away, the accommodation is cosy but not fussy. We had everything we needed to make us comfortable and a few little extras that made the space really special. We loved relaxing in the hammock on the secluded veranda and swinging through the trees on the massive rope swing! The walk down to the cove is beautiful and on the one rainy day we spent the morning down there breaking up rocks with a roofers hammer and found a brilliant fossil of a trilobite. Even walking through the clouds the walk is magical. On hotter days we enjoyed bodyboarding and snorkeling on the nearest beach which was quiet enough even though it was mid August. St David's is less than an hours walk along the coastal path where we enjoyed meals at the excellent Cwtch and the Dusty Knuckle which makes proper wood fired pizza in the courtyard behind the high street shops. Although the tree house was in the owner's garden, we felt that we had our own space and privacy. She maintained a great balance, friendly and welcoming but hands off and easy going, which suited us and the situation perfectly. We are looking forward to returning to the Tree House next year.

Owner's Response: I am saddened and confused and surprised by this guest. The listing clearly states that towels are not provided! However I am now supplying bath towels and a hand towel in the bathroom and kitchen, this is now mentioned in the house details. I am saddened as an owner that the guest didn't communicate her problems and left without saying anything. Sometimes guests haven't brought towels and I have previously just lent them my own towels. I am confused and suprised about the comments regarding the sofa's Both sofas see below have 5 star reviews from John Lewis and other dealers, the other is a beautiful antique chair. This guest wrote to me just after she left demanding a full refund which I declined to do under the circumstances.
