About the Owner

Ronnie and I were delighted to be asked by a close friend if we would be interested in looking after his beautiful home when he and his family moved abroad. We agreed it was a perfect house for holiday lets and we promised to look after this house as if it were our own. We are a small family business looking after holiday homes but we live only 5 miles from the property and will be available should you need us. Ronnie and I have taken many family holidays in rented houses over the years and latterly with our daughter Rhoda, her husband, Gary, and their girls. We think we know what holiday makers are looking for and that is a beautiful house but a family home where they can relax and be comfortable. The house is in an ideal central position in Perthshire for touring and the cities of Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen and Edinburgh are all within 45 minutes to a 90 minute drive away.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

We are 40 minutes to Tentsmuir beach near Tayport, Fife and 60 minutes from the beaches in St Andrews.

Travel:

We are 80 minutes drive from Glasgow airport.

We are 45 minutes drive from Edinburgh airport.

15 minutes from Perth railway station.

A car is essential for the house.

Distances:

You are a 5 minute drive from both Stanley and Luncarty villages. Dunkeld and its ancient cathedral are 10 minutes away. Glasgow is 60 minutes and Edinburgh 40 minutes. Pitlochry is 25 minutes away. Perth is 10 minutes.

Further Details:

The nearest villages to buy provisions are Luncarty and Stanley. Alternatively, Perth is just 10 minutes away and has a full quota of well know supermarkets and high street shops. There is a well stocked village shop/post office in Luncarty and in Stanley there is a food store, butcher shop, post office and health centre. There is a hairdresser and beauticians and nail bar in Bankfoot.

There are a wealth of restaurants in Perth and a selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes in Dunkeld and Stanley.

The property is perfectly positioned if you want to go fishing, situated as we are on the banks of the Lower Tay between Luncarty and Stanley. The Upper Redgorton Beat and bothy can be accessed directly from the house down a short path. It takes 2 minutes to walk there. If you are after a relaxing break and wish to enjoy the fantastic scenery on your doorstep you are ideally located to walk amongst some of the most picturesque scenery in Scotland. Perthshire is perfect for an outdoor pursuits holiday with fantastic scenery on the doorstep for walkers, birdwatchers and cyclists, and excellent opportunities for shooting, fishing and golf. We are also perfectly positioned for golf, being 1 hour from St Andrews and 25 minutes from Gleneagles. There are numerous excellent courses nearby.

  • Notes on accommodation: Providing contemporary but comfortable accommodation this family house is on 2 storeys. Downstairs boasts a large reception area with a cloakroom toilet, storage facilities, a double bedroom with king size bed and en suite facilities, a quiet circular lounge with television and our favourite room, a bright stylish kitchen cum dining room cum lounge where everyone can gather. Climb the elegant wooden staircase and you reach the other 3 bedrooms, one double with en suite facilities, the other 2 rooms with single beds. They have a large family bathroom at their disposal. The house is perfectly positioned for fishing salmon and grilse, situated as we are on the banks of the Lower Tay between Luncarty and Stanley and you can access this down a short path from the garden. There is a large private garden, mostly grass, with swings and an outside eating area. Outside: There is a large private garden, mostly grass, with an outside eating area. There is a barbecue for your use. There is a selection of toys in storage units in the kitchen. Utility Room: Stores the boiler and has a washer machine with drying facilities on a ceiling mounted clothes dryer, utility sink and is a warm and ideal area for storing muddy boots and wet jackets. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen, bath mats, towels and dish towels are included in the changeover. Additional cleaning will be at an arranged rate with the owner on guest arrival. Other: The kitchen/dining/lounge area is a large, bright, warm area where guests can relax and watch the progress of the River Tay. As well as the dining area there is a comfortable sofa for watching tv or for reading or chatting whilst someone else cooks!
