Farmhouse in Guaro, Nr. Coin, Costa del Sol (Inland), Spain - Tranquil, Breathtaking Location, Just 30 Minutes From Marbella And Beach, New Listing
Our house in the hills behind the little village of Guaro was rare find. Easy to access but offering total privacy, it looks out over a wide valley with 15km views of the distant mountain tops. there are no houses to overlook close by and the pool and gardens are not overlooked by others. The views are simply breathtaking. The name "Mirlo Blanco" means "white blackbird" in Spanish, a description of how rare such a location really is.
The pool is surrounded by garden and lawn, overlooked by mimosa, eucalyptus and pink-pepper trees.
We only use the main house occasionally, and even if we are in residence the number of terraces and space allow very undisturbed use of the casita.
The surrounding area includes charming "Pueblos blancos...white villages", great local restaurants offering amazing value and a feel of truly "Spanish" Spain.
Evening drinks on the terrace, watching the sunset behind the hills, across a wide green valley, gives a sense of peace that makes holidays there special.

Beautiful tranquil location with stunning scenery

"Mirlo Blanco is in a great rural location, just a few minutes from the village of Guaro and because it’s off the beaten track, you are rewarded with the most stunning views.
The casita is well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay and the pool is a great size set in a beautiful garden filled with Oleanders, Eucalyptus, and Pepper trees offering perfect shade.
Billy our lovely host was great very helpful and friendly, he provided us with plenty of information regarding directions and what’s on in the area so it was easy to get there and discover places of interest.
We only had a week in this special private place but would have loved to have stayed longer if we could , it was so relaxing and tranquil. I would definitely recommend Mirlo Blanco as a holiday destination."
We are delighted that she enjoyed her stay at Mirlo Blanco so much.
About the Owner
We are a retired couple, living most of the year in Northern Ireland. We are lovers of nature, music, good food, art and joining in with new cultures and ideas.
We like sailing and walking and discovering new places.
Busy lives at home and visits to our children in various other countries mean we can only make brief visits to our Spanish paradise, but each visit leaves us refreshed and rested.

Peace and quiet
The views are simply wonderful and we very much enjoyed being able to relax in complete privacy, in fact, we hardly ventured from the pool side, making the most of hot temperatures and wall to wall sunshine. The accommodation was comfortable and cool having left the shutters closed during the day and open by night. Next door's cat likes to sleep on the bathroom window ledge which isn't protected by a net so it was hard to ventilate it and it had to be kept closed at night - the insects (alive and dead) and droppings in the bathroom were a little off putting but did not spoil our overall appreciation of this tranquil place.
Beautiful tranquil location with stunning scenery
Mirlo Blanco is located just a few minutes from the village of Guarobeautiful hills
When we booked Mira Blanca we wondered whether it could really live up to our expectations having read the 5* reviews on this site. Well, it did, and more.....the reviews are accurate but you really have to experience it to believe it. The accommodation provides you with a taste of Spanish living but what makes this holiday rental stand out from most is its magnificent views, and its tranquil very private setting in stunning grounds. If you're looking for a place to get away from it all and recharge your batteries, look no further. You won't want to leave!
A small piece of paradise
Just perfect, peace and quiet in a lovely farmhouse, with views for miles of mountains and mountain top villages, not overlooked. If you are looking for a break from the usual package holiday and taste the real Spain. Telephone Billy and book this farmhouse. The accommodation, advice and maintenance could not have been bettered. If I could have given it more stars I would have.
A lovely casita perched on a hillside near the village of Guaro, with breathtaking views of the mountains. Beautiful garden and pool. We visited many of the towns and sites that Billy and Val recommended. Golden Eagles and Chamoix at El Torcal are a wonderful memory, as is cooking on the bar-b-q each evening, watching the sun disappear behind the mountains.
This is a wonderful place if you are looking for peace, tranquility, and being amongst nature. There are also many towns nearby if you would like to see and hear more of Spanish life. We had a truly wonderful week at Mirlo Blanco.
A perfect holiday hideaway in Southern Spain
Did the Casita at Mirlo Blanco meet your expectations?
The Casita was exactly as described, located down a rural road in the hills above Marbella/Malaga.
What were the best features you remember?
The Casita has a kitchen with fridge, gas hob, microwave and enough cutlery/crockery. Through in to the living room there are comfortable modern chairs and a tv. This is a lovely room for relaxing. The Casita has wifi, which was useful for planning excursions.
Through into the bedroom, there is a comfortable double bed with a spectacular view of the local countryside. The bathroom is clean and has a bath and handheld shower.
Outside there is a small terrace with a table and 2 seats, as well as a kettle style BBQ.
Was the Casita adequately equipped?
All equipment worked as expected, and the welcome pack was great after the long drive.
Were you happy with the key pick-up or meet and greet service?
The key is in a key box at the main gate, once into the grounds there is parking and a gate though to the main house and the Casita. The hosts offered a welcome meet and greet, which was a nice touch as the Casita is rural.
Was the information on directions and local restaurants/shops/ places to visit adequate?
The welcome pack includes details of shops and restaurants and other places to visit.
Any other comments?
We had a lovely, relaxing stay at Mirlo Blanco, and enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the local area. One morning an eagle flew overhead and stayed around for 10-15 minutes. An amazing sight.
The hosts are not resident all the time, and they arrived mid week, and were very welcoming. The pool and garden are adjacent to the main property and are clean and inviting.
From the Owner
“Because our Ireland home can often be a bit wet and cold ,we sought a Mediterranean hide-away to give us occasional sunshine and warmth at all times of the year. We visit our house in Spain one or two weeks each month to "recharge our batteries" but seldom in peak holiday periods. We sought a house that was different from the norm. It had to have charm and tranquillity and a little bit of "magic" about it. We chose the area because it was easily accessible from Malaga airport, with its all year round flights from most UK airports. The area is well supplied with all amenities, but not over built upon nor over industrialised. There is no flight-path over the valley, and no major road close by, so peace and silence are assured. We looked at very many houses before choosing this one. It really is a unique find.”

From the Owner
“We enjoy the peaceful countryside, great views, nice walks, local festivals and good food. We prefer this area of more "Spanish" Spain away from the hustle and bustle of the coastal strip. But the beach is only 30 minutes away if we want it. Costs of dining out are far less than on the coast but the quality is better. The genuine friendliness of the local people is valued. The house is at about 350 metres above sea level, high enough to have clear air, fantastic views free of the clutter of over-development and so little light-pollution at night that you can see every star in the sky. Still, its not cold in winter- last year we had Christmas lunch outside on the terrace. There are many charming local fiestas, in which the locals welcome visitors.”
