Casa Paretola is a stunning farmhouse c 1700s nestled on the edge of a medieval hamlet with spectacular views cross the beautiful Tuscan countryside. The perfect setting for a totally relaxing holiday, and yet so close to historical centres such as Lucca, Florence and Pisa. The five cliff top fishing villages of the Cinque Terre are close by and Portofino is 50 minutes away by car. Lunigiana is a very pictureque and quite undiscovered part of Tuscany, perfect for total relaxation, hiking, cycling or touring. You will be taken back into the real Tuscan life, a very relaxed tempo of a century ago, calm and unhurried. The property has one large terrace at the front of the property, and a smaller terrace to the side of the kitchen along with a small garden to the side of the property. It is 8 minutes from Licciana Nardi (local village) and 15 minutes from local swimming pool. Swimming. Quite apart from sea-bathing this area offers many opportunities for swimming both in good public swimming pools and in safe river pools. River bathing is popular in some areas particularly around Licciana, Bagnone and Pontremoli (for example at Guinadi). There are swimming pools at Villafranca (Olympic size set in wooded grounds). There is also a smaller pool and tennis courts, a snack bar and pizzeria. Cormezzano, between Aulla and Fivizzano just past the Gassano turn has a pool with water chutes. There are also swimming pools at Lerici and Equi Terme (sulphur baths).
Having travelled and lived in Italy over many years, we fell in love with the unspoilt Lunigiana region and with this 17th century property and its wonderful panoramas of the surrounding countryside.
It offers total relaxation - and many years on we still love the absolute peace and tranquility the house offers and yet love it's positioning which is so close to historical and coastline resorts.
Casa Paretola offers a feeling of remoteness from the crowds which is wonderful and yet such a close drive to major historic towns such as Lucca, Pisa and Florence among many others.
Lunigiana is the 'Jewel in the crown' of Italy where the villages have not changed in centuries. There are reported to be over 100 castles amongst the sweeping green hills and mountains. The delicious menu's are regional from the many fish dishes along the coast to the meat & vegetable dishes of the countryside.
Guests staying here find that they can relax thoroughly with the peace and relaxation of the surroundings. Devoid of the hustle and bustle of 21st century living, it provides a welcome return from a 'packed day' out visiting the many historic towns and coastal resorts in the area.
