We've had a lovely holiday, the cottage is beautiful and the views are amazing, we don't want to leave! Great days out at Bakewell, Chatsworth, Heights of Abraham and Caudwell's Mill. Great footpaths from the doorstep pointing in all directions. Would love to come back. Robert and Emma, Suffolk.
A gem of a cottage, very comfortable and amazing views! The peace and quiet was just what we both needed to relax and chill out. A great base for exploring the local area. A big THANK YOU for a lovely week. Denise and Brian, Cambridge.
To a lovely welcoming couple. Your cottage is fantastic, comfortable, clean and quiet. We have had a lovely few days. Been to lots of places in the day and relaxed at night. Thank you. Lillian and Harry. Wigan.
Breathtaking scenery, could get used to waking up and seeing that view everday! Ate and drank far too much as Matlock has some lovely places to eat in. Now back to noise and a serious diet. Jay and Jan. Essex

Adorable cottage with wonderful views...perfect!!
Everything about the cottage was perfect, it was adequately equipped, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The location was peaceful with magnificent views and the hospitality of the owner, Jane, was very friendly and caring. We would definitely recommend this cottage and are planning a return visit as we loved it so much. In fact this was one of our favourite holidays despite the changeable weather!!!
Comfy, quiet and an amazing view
We were very impressed by the Miles Around cottage. When we first got there, we noticed the great view of Matlock immediately. We walked into the cottage and felt instantly at home, the cottage was cosy, clean and tidy and we were left some complimentary bread, milk, tea, coffee and biscuits which we thought was a nice touch.
We were soon greeted by Jane who made us feel very welcome to their residence.
Over the 3 nights we were there we had a very quiet and comfortable time, we would definately consider this cottage again for future visits to Matlock and recommend it to friends and family looking to visit the town.

We really enjoyed our stay at "Miles Around" cottage. It is in a beautiful location with stunning views all around the property and very peaceful. The cottage is very well equipped with all mod cons, all included. We enjoyed visiting Bakewell, Matlock Bath with the Heights of Abraham well worth a visit. The owners Jane and Michael are on hand if you have any problems and are very pleasant. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage
Our holiday haven!
This was our second trip to this cottage and it was exactly as we remembered - fabulous. Jane made us very welcome and had taken the time to decorate the cottage for my husband's birthday which was a lovely gesture. The cottage is cosy, clean, comfortable and very well equipped and the views are just amazing. It is also well situated for exploring the area. We discovered Dovedale and Lea Gardens on this trip - both lovely. We were able to chill out and enjoy the peace and slept for 10 hours every night (a combination of the walking, good food, wine and a very comfortable bed)! Thank you Jane & Michael.
We spent four days at this cottage, and we had an absolutely lovely holiday. The owners were a husband and wife, and we never saw the husband due to him working. The wife was absolutely lovely, she was helpful and informative and very friendly, but she never came to the cottage and left us to ourselves. The cottage was properly cleaned and tidied when we got there, with a very welcome tray of biscuits, jams, bread and milk ready for us to use too. I would definitely recommend this to a friend, and we will hopefully be returning!

About the Area.
Once famed for its hydros and spa treatments, Matlock is now a bustling town surrounded by the spectacular countryside of the Derbyshire Dales. Overlooked by the imposing Smedleys Hydro (now the offices of Derbyshire County Council) and Riber Castle, the town owes much its status to John Smedley who built both these grand edifices, plus several more. The River Derwent and the A6 road both run through the middle of the town, which centres on Crown Square. Matlock boasts an award-winning park - Hall Leys Park, complete with boating lake, riverside paths, tennis courts and skateboard park. It is the first of five beautifully restored public parks stretching along the River Derwent to Matlock Bath. The hillsides around afford some superb viewpoints and superb countryside is literally on the doorstep. With a good range of shops and restaurants plus excellent bus and rail links (on the Derwent Valley train line from Derby) this is an ideal base for exploring the area. Peak Rail runs heritage steam and diesel trains from Matlock station and there is a superb new Leisure Centre on the edge of the town. Don't miss the magical Matlock Bath Illuminations which take place a little further along the river at weekends during September and October.
