About Amanda Houghton-Brown

Paul and Amanda fell in love with Winchcombe when they moved here in 2002. In 2007, shortly after the birth of their second daughter, Paul spotted the potential in a 2 bedroom bungalow that became available on Langley Road. Together, we have transformed the property into the family home with guest accommodation which it is today.

Amanda Houghton-Brown purchased this apartment in 2007

Why Amanda Houghton-Brown chose Tewkesbury district

The light and airy interior mingles with the garden beyond at The Vine. Through the large French windows you can sit and enjoy the sunset over the garden. Once dark, look up through the beautiful skylight in the sitting room to admire the constellations.

Or from your own sunny patio you can sit quietly with a glass of wine and listen to the birdsong. The Vine has been running successfully as a holiday cottage since 2014 and with a background in the hotel industry Amanda knows how to look after her guests whether that is in the cleanliness & boutique hotel feel of the property or in her local knowledge of where to dine or what shows and festivals are on in Cheltenham or surrounding villages.

What makes this apartment unique

Stunning new hand made breeze house over looking the beautiful Cotswold escarpment beyond.

Lighting and Heating within this beautiful bespoke Breeze House just at the end of the garden for your private enjoyment. Take a bottle of wine and watch the sun set over the hill beyond.

Lovely accommodation in stunning location

  • 5 of 5

Very pleased with The Vine . Ideal for couples . Only one small quibble - could have done with more drawer space in the bedroom . This did not spoil our overall impression of the place however - and would heartily recommend.

Spent 4 nights here - accommodation is beautiful - looking out onto well kept gardens and a field beyond. 5 minute walk to nearest pub which does lovely food . The owner is very helpful.

We felt that there were to many notes around the property and that we have never before in our many self catering holidays had to experience a request to purchase alcoholic drinks. A bottle of wine has always been complementary also no welcome pack on arrival.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your response. We always provide complimentary orange juice, bread, butter, milk, tea and coffee on arrival. The mini bar provided in the fridge is labelled as an honesty bar and contains gin & tonic, beer & wine at cost price. This is offered to save people needing to pop to the shops in case of a late arrival & is similar to what may be offered in a smart hotel. Guests in the past have been delighted with what we offer so we are sorry for any disappointment caused. The notes around the property offer instruction for how to use the combination microwave oven or the television and now the beautiful new summer house. They are intended to be helpful to our guests in case we are away during their visit.

A perfect place in a lovely little town

  • 5 of 5

The Vine is really a perfect place for a quiet and relaxed holiday.

It is very will equipped, offers a lot of space and also a wonderful sunny terrace and garden with beautiful views.

We enjoyed our time here very much and also liked Winchcombe with its beautiful cottages, small shops, pubs and restaurants and beautiful Sudeley Castle as a highlight.

Overall a perfect location to explore the lovely area and enjoy a holiday in a high-standard home from home!

Great location, attentive but non-obtrusive hosts, comfy and quiet unit

  • 5 of 5

We were very appreciative of the milk-juice-better-bread welcome basket. Our stay was quiet and comfortable. Thanks, Amanda - also for speedy solution to our internet challenge.

Extremely compfortable, well-equipped and warm home from home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at The Vine for three nights whilst working at nearby Sudeley Castle for the Homes and Gardens Spring Fair. After working hard all day it was wonderful to come back to our own, very comfortable, space. The Vine is even better than it looks - very spacious, spotlessly clean and well-equipped; I was delighted to find big, fluffy white towels (so often even good hotels are mean with the size and quality of towels). The bathroom was lovely and the bedroom very spacious. Downstairs had an enormous and very comfortable sofa and a huge television. Amanda popped in to say hello and had kindly left all the essentials in the fridge. All in all the perfect home from home.

We will definitely be back!
