The Underley Estate is set within the beautiful Lune Valley on the edge of The Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales. Our cottages are individually furnished to the highest standard, combining modern living with the tranquility of the rolling countryside, grass fields and mature trees. Sleeping from 2 to 4 people, these four properties are ideally situated for a weekend away with the family to explore an area steeped in history and rich in natural beauty.

This was our first proper stay in the lake district and what a wonderful introduction to such a beautiful part of the uk. We arrived mid afternoon after a lovely drive through glorious countryside onto the Underley Estate. ( which was fairly easy to find) . The dog house was just perfect for the two of us, it was immaculately clean with everything you could possibly need to cater for yourselves, the kitchen was so well equipt and spotless. The view from the accommodation was inspiring to say the least, opening the curtains each morning was food for the soul. The only noise was the sound of the birds singing. Perfect for people wanting to relax and just find some "me" time. Neighbouring village was picturesque and full of places to eat and drink. Gifts galore if you like shopping! I have to mention the bed in the dog house, it was huge !! I think my partner and I agreed it was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in , perfect after a day walking. I recommend a visit and we will definitely book again.
Had 5 lovely days break at 'The Doghouse'with my husband. Just what we both needed. Within minutes of arriving we both felt so relaxed. It's not the biggest cottage in the world but just PERFECT for two stressed adults. The cottage is so cosy and warm. And it is SO well-equipped, never been in any rental property that has EVERYTHING you might just need! The peace & quiet, the magnificent views, the bluebells and the friendly partridge all made it so special. You can walk forever through woodland, beside streams and still be within the 'Estate'. All of the staff were so helpful too. I could go on but I wll just say that we will DEFINITELY be going back to the Doghouse, hopefully very soon.
And just for info purposes, Kirby Lonsdale is only a couple of miles away. With a good supermarket and plenty of shops, cafes & pubs.

Activity and Interests
Morecambe Bay is approximately half an hour's drive away.
Road - M6 J36 10-15 minutes drive. Rail - Oxenholme Station (Main West Coast Line) 15 minutes drive, Clapham Station (East Coast Line) 15 minutes drive. Airport - Manchester and Liverpool both approximately an hour and a quarter drive.
Kirkby Lonsdale is 2-3 miles away, and offers a number of very good pubs and restaurants, as well as a superb supermarket. Kendal is only 20 minutes drive, and a little further afield are Lancaster, Morecambe, Windemere, Bowness and Ambleside - between half an hour and 40 minutes drive.

Bookings are generally from Friday to Friday, though exceptions can be made. Please check for availability. Once you have made your booking we will hold the property for a few days until the booking is confirmed by payment of deposit. Please view our website for full booking information.
Changeover day is generally Friday, though we are flexible on this. Please ring to enquire.
