A beautiful, tranquil hideaway

  • 5 of 5

A lovely stay here. The barn is beautiful; a great location, well equipped and provides a quiet and peaceful base. Lots of thoughtful touches - milk in the fridge, chocolates and biscuits on arrival. Floor to ceiling window in the main bedroom overlooks a huge, pretty garden. The children loved feeding the birds with the bird seed provided and watching the wildlife!

A Lovely Place To Stay

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our week-long stay at Carter's Barn. It's easy to get to, really well kept and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, the rooms spacious and, after putting some bird seed on the bird table, we saw lots of different birds and even a few visits from the local pheasants! The communication from the owner, Zoe, was excellent. On the map, Carter's Barn looks like it's in the middle of nowhere, but it's perfectly placed for lots of days out. For example Weymouth, Swanage, Lulworth Cove, Corfe Castle and Monkey World were all between 5 and 25 minute drives away. There are also some very nice local pubs which serve excellent food and drink. We had a great week and hope to stay again next year.

Everything that we required and more

  • 5 of 5

A perfect location for Monkey World, fossil hunting or beach walks. The property is modern, very well maintained and equipped. The owner (Zoe) was very helpful when required. We would not hesitate to return.

Tip: Book early as it is understandably popular.

Cosy barn conversion

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was in a perfect spot - in peaceful surroundings with plenty of wildlife but not far from the main routes to the towns and coast. The property was well equipped but did lack some soft lighting in the living areas - a few more table lamps would help. Also a coffee table or nest of tables would be a useful addition. It was really nice to be able to feed the birds with the seed provided by Zoe - a lovely touch. We enjoy the wildlife in our own garden and were thoroughly entertained by the resident pheasants, rabbits, squirrels and variety of birds at Carters Barn. There is a railway station in Wool village (2 miles) and it has a free car park for customers. We used it to get to Poole. Wool also has a Spar shop with a free car park which we found quite useful and there is a Sainsburys supermarket in Wareham. We enjoyed our week in this lovely area of Dorset.

Cosy, Quiet, Clean, Comfortable and Convenient

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our week's stay; it's a great place to explore Dorset (the only county in England without a motorway!) and its tea shops and country pubs. The barn has been tastefully converted, it's very well equipped and surprisingly spacious. We will definitely be returning at our first opportunity. Thanks, Zoe!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words :) I hope you can return some time in the future. I didn't know that motorway fact about Dorset! A good selling point.
