About the Owner

I visited La Garde Freinet on holiday and fell in love with the village, lovely restaurants, art shops and proximity to st tropez, I decided to invest in an apartment here as a 'pied a terre'.

I am looking forward to discovering the area staying at the apartment as often as I can and renting out when I am not.

La Garde-Freinet is a mixture of an authentic French village with good tourist facilities.

  • 4 of 5

On the ground floor of a block, facing out onto a minor road, on the edge of a medieval French mountain village, located in the Massif des Maures, 15 km NW of Saint-Tropez, accessible by picturesque winding roads, through forests of cork oaks, and chestnuts. (Thank you Wikipedia!).

A hedge around the small garden of the apartment ensures privacy. Everything supplied. UK and Irish TV stations. Blue ray player and lots of DVDs. And books in English. Good wifi. We didn't use the swimming pool, but it looked good. A dedicated car space outside off the road. A short stroll down to the village centre. May be a bit steep for older persons, coming back up. There were always a number of decent restaurants open in the evenings. Great climb up to Fort Freinet (challenging for a 68 yr old, but rewarding!). Other interesting walks around, most of which I never got around to. Might be better to tackle these with company. There is good info about these walks in the apartment, and from the Tourist Office in the village, who produced a brilliant book of 10 local walks (free). The Latin Mass @ 9am Sunday, in the local church, brought back fond (?) memories.

Mosquitos were a problem for me, and I was bitten regularly. Take serious precautions. You may have to put up with occasional bursts of chattering, or noise from a chainsaw, or anglegrinder, or pressure hose, or serious hoovering, from other residents who live in the apartments. Just like you would in any village! Nights were quiet. The 2 local grocery shops did not provide a shopping experience, but were adequate for the basics.

There was a sharp change in the weather on 14th September, from light shirt to pullover, in the evening.

Perfect apartment in Provence for exploring and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

The ground floor flat was just right for our holiday, to explore the area. Easy travel on the peage to Monaco, Cannes and St. Tropez. Lovely village with relaxed atmosphere to eat and drink in the day time or evening. Local supermarket stocked all essentials in the village. Everything we needed was available in the apartment, just as described. It was comfy and clean. The pool was a bonus; quiet and warm enough to enjoy every day. The owner quickly sorted out a car parking issue, which we appreciated. The weather was hot and sunny! Beautiful area and a great holiday for us, thank-you very much! I would recommend this property very highly.

Very well equipped, garden is a lovely restful place

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay, the apartment is well equipped and has comfy sun loungers in the private garden which allows you to choose shade when the sun is on the pool if you get too hot.

Allocated parking is handily right outside the entrance doors.

WiFi and British TV work well too if that's your bag.

Lovely Apartment

  • 5 of 5

Myself, my wife and 7 month old had a lovely 8 day stay at this apartment. Property very nicely decorated, extremely well maintained and spotless when we arrived. Very well equipped for a rental apartment. Lovely private patio area to front. In a great location 1 - 2 mins from restaurants/bakery/butchers etc. La Garde Freinet a lovely quite village with great walks around it but within an easy drive of the coast. Anne was great to deal with too. Highly recommended.

We spent a brilliant week at this very comfortable and convenient apartment. La Garde Freinet is a beautiful village, very well positioned for visits to all the coastal resorts and the hills for walking. The apartment is well equipped for two and is within easy walking distance of the village centre for shops, restaurants and bars.We will definitely be back for another visit!!

From the Owner

The property is an easy walk in to the village with all the amenities plus plenty of nice restaurants, bars and shops. La Garde Freinet is also nicely placed for discovering the coast including the famous St Tropez but also nice to escape from in the high summer and just relax pottering around the village.
