Apartment in Le Port, Nice, France - Fabulous Location, Massive private 30 Sq M Private Terrace

A hidden gem on the Port, renovated and new to the Market in May 2014. in 2014 I rented through an Agency so I don't have any reviews prior to 2015. 1 double bedroom first floor air conditioned apartment (no lift), with direct access on to the Port itself. Romantic, intimate, elegant apartment, stylishly decorated, with a truly unique huge 30 sqm garden terrace to the rear of the apartment offering sun and shade, peace and tranquility. The apartment building opens on to the bustling Port, with its quaint fishing boats, billionaires' yachts, waterside restaurants and bars and just a few minutes walk from the both the main tourist beaches and quieter locals beaches. The Old Town / Cours Salaya and Promenade de Paillon are a 10 minute walk. Almost everywhere worth seeing is within easy walking distance, alternatively the many buses, trams, Velo-bleu pushbikes and Auto-bleu electric car hire stations are dotted everywhere across the city. There is a taxi rank at the Port, it is also where you can catch buses to the whole of Nice as well as Monaco, Villefranche sur Mer, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and Beaulieu-sur-mer and all the other picturesque coastal villages. Riquier train station is a 15 min walk from flat if you want to travel by train to Cannes or Saint Tropez but you can also get a boat from the Port to these destinations. This property really is The Secret Garden and is unique in Nice. A real treat. Tucked away and private yet at the same time right in the middle of the most beautiful and vibrant quarter of Nice.

Perfectly located apartment for a quiet stay in Nice

We enjoyed our stay in this comfy and quiet apartment right next to the picturesque port. There are top notch restaurants literally downstairs and on the block but the stay was quiet as the apartment faces the inner courtyard and not the street. We enjoyed having breakfast on the inner terrace before heading out for the day. Lucy was very accommodating and provided good recommendations. Would definitely stay here again!

The place was very charming and convenient to buses and the major city sights.

Pros: Charming flat at Nice Port, convenient to buses for exploring the riviera, and a short walk to promenade beaches and the city center. The host also personally dropped off an electronics adapter after we asked about one via text after we arrived. And she was generally very responsive and available during our stay for any questions.

Cons: Very hot at night with no options for lighter blankets nor a fan. Lots of mosquitoes, yet when we asked the host upon arrivals she assured us it wouldn't be an issue. Large cockroach found living under the fireplace mantle on the final unit. And leaky air conditioning unit. Also no lighting on the patio so can only be enjoyed during the day even though the evenings in Nice are quite pleasant.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. Glad you liked the apartment and so sorry you had a few issues. It is the end of the season and the aircon unit is due a service, which I will now bring forward, thank you for alerting me. On rare occasions Cockroaches turn up in these old buildings, especially after a storm, I leave a spray canister under sink, just in case. Just FYI there are outside lights (blue LED in decking and lights on outside wall), Apologies, I must have forgotten to point them out on check in. (Switches are by BBQ) & lastly, most people just sleep with the sheets if too hot for duvet....?

Fantastic apartment, in a lovely location.

We really enjoyed the apartment, very comfortable, everything you need for a weeks stay.

The terrace was lovely, breakfast and dinner outside.

Lucy was very helpful, lots of advice and tips of where to go, it was very easy way to rent a beautiful apartment.

Everything you need on the doorstep, supermarkets, restaurants, good food, we can recommend restaurant Mamma Mia, 9, rue Francois Guisol- amazing food, and lovely staff)

We enjoyed the ferry boat across to the other side, walking into centre of Nice, loved the Old Town.

Lovely apartment beautifully decorated.

The apartment is very well equipped and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It is in a great location in the port close to supermarkets and a small beach. We used the very efficient bus service to visit Monaco and villefranche. We would definitely recommend staying here. Thank you for having us!

Fantastic Apartment!

We had a wonderful holiday in Nice and stopping at this lovely apartment made it even better. The location is perfect for what we wanted, plenty of restaurants in the immediate vicinity and not too far to go to the old town. Transport to the rest of the coastline is on the doorstep, buses are in the port area, with the train station not too far either. Lucy is lovely and the whole process of renting the accommodation was very easy. The apartment is exactly as described and the pictures are a true reflection of the property, if possible the property is even better in real life!!

Would recommend stopping here and would definitely return. Thanks Lucy!

Classic French Charm

The apartment is perfectly situated by the Port of Nice, it is flanked by numerous restaurants and bars, the outside space is excellent with a 7 piece garden suite, large angled canopy, covered table and chair area next to the BBQ. There is also a "shed" which houses the washing machine and other odds and sods!!

Inside there are 3 rooms. A good sized double bedroom with plenty of storage (behind the bed and built in to the bed head). (A bedside table with light would have added to the room). The shuttered doors of the bedroom and the kitchen/lounge open on to the outside decking.

The lounge is comfortable with a sofa, tv and aircon. The kitchen units are adequate and there is a superb hob and oven, coffee machine, toaster, dish washer, fridge with a small freezer compartment. Unfortunately, there wasn't a microwave. I would also have liked a small pan plus a couple of serving spoons. Otherwise all is catered for.

The bathroom has an excellent shower, the wash basin and toilet are functional. Again, a rail for towels would have been good. The owner provides towels, bed linen, basic essentials for the start of the holiday.

We loved our stay in this apartment with its fabulous outside space and location.

Location

From the Owner

The Terrace is unique with lounging area, seating area and BBQ. The location is incredible with remarkable choice of restaurants and bars to go to. La Reserve Beach close by. Le Port is also home to the buses to Beaulieu sur Mer, Villefranche-sur-mer, Eze, Saint Jean Cap Ferret and also Monaco. Riquier train station is 15 mins walk, so easy access to Cannes, Antibes etc... Plus of course, Boats to all the places above including to Saint Tropez.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary

Special interest holidays:

Yoga studio is 2 minutes walk away. Drop-in Painting class, daily fruit and veg market, weekly (Mondays) vintage market (perfect for vintage Chanel) all on Cours Salaya, weekly (Saturdays) flea market in Place Garibaldi, a huge square, lined with restaurants, bars and an english speaking cinema. Please email for further information, there is pretty much something for everyone in Nice.

Coast/Beach:

The Apartment opens directly on to the Port, so you are at the sea as soon as you leave the front door. The nearest beach is Club Nautique, a 5 minute walk. Promenade des Anglais beaches are 7-10 minutes walk, just around the Port headland.

Travel:

Nice International Airport is 6€ on the 98 bus (every 20 mins) or 35€ by taxi, from the airport to the Port. Taxis and car hire are available across Nice of course but not at all necessary. You can also hire push-bikes and electric cars at dozens of stations across Nice. Monaco is a €1.50 / 30 mins bus ride away, Cannes is €10 / 30 mins by train. There is unrestricted parking in the coast road 2 mins walk from flat.

Distances:

Nice is on the Cote d'Azur, the beautiful south coast of France. Along the coast in either direction you can be in Antibes, Cannes, Monte Carlo or Italy, or inland in the hills and mountains, all in under an hour.

Further Details:

We are surrounded by bars, restaurants, banks, supermarkets, artisan bakers, fishmongers, butchers, bakers & candlestick makers! So much to do and so many places to see.

The Terrace is fabulous with BBQ and large eating area. The lounging area is perfect. Just check the reviews from my guests summer 2015. it's like a little secret. The Port has all the buses to rest of Nice & Monaco. Perfect for visiting all the coastal villages and beaches. You need the 100 for Monaco. And 81 for St Jean Cap Ferrat.
