Best's Cottage - stunning harbour and sea views, family & dog friendly

Overview

Property

Updated: 26-Oct-2016
Traditional cottage overlooking Mevagissey harbour, short breaks available

Best's Cottage was built around 200 years ago as a Fisherman's cottage. It overlooks the harbour on the sunny south side and can be seen in many postcards of the historic fishing port. The view from the Master bedroom extends on a clear day from Chapel Point all the way Start Point in South Devon.

Three bedrooms include a double with sea views, a single and a twin bunk room, all upstairs along with the family bathroom. Downstairs is a cosy sitting room, a kitchen/diner and a utility/boot room ideal for dumping wet or sandy gear, or towelling-down the dog.

Mevagissey is a popular holiday destination as well as a working fishing port. It boasts several excellent pubs and restaurants, souvenir and convenience shops, boat trips, museum, aquarium, model railway and Heligan Gardens nearby.

Conveniently situated in mid-Cornwall, countless other attractions are within easy reach including beaches, gardens, walks, historic towns and villages, Cornish industrial heritage, theme parks, zoo etc.

"Such a great little place - we loved it! We really were very comfortable in the house and we felt relaxed there with a family. It had everything and more than we needed."

"I just thought I would drop you a note to say we had a wonderful time in the cottage and we loved Mevagissy. We were blessed with the weather which was beautiful, and loved the location and everything about the place."

Location

From the Owner

Local man Ron bought the cottage in the 1950's to be closer to his beloved boat and spent all the time he could spend here and on the water. All the family loved spending long summer holidays at the cottage and aboard 'Grandad's boat'.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: WiFi Internet is not provided by us but is available via a BT 'hotspot' which is free to BT broadband customers or as a prepaid subscription service. Signal strength and connection speed vary depending on your equipment, and other users, and works best in the front rooms. Outside: There is a small courtyard outside the kitchen/utility room. Sorry we don't yet have a bench at the front of the house, but we are working on it! Utility Room: Utility/boot room off kitchen with sink, washing machine, tumble drier, freezer, coat hooks and benches, back door to courtyard. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Best's Cottage is cleaned before each booking and bedding/towels are provided and changed weekly for longer bookings. Our very helpful housekeeper lives next door.
