Perfect !

  • 5 of 5

I've been travelling around the world, and first came to the Yorkshire Dales approx 30 years ago. Swaledale is a very special place, a different world. If I would ask a child to draw a picture-perfect landscape, I'm sure it would resemble the views you have from Kisdon Hill (and from anywhere in Upper Swaledale, really).

Roof Farm Cottage is perfectly situated just outside the lovely village of Muker. It is an extremely comfortable, very well equipped and very cosy cottage. We feel there can be no better place to stay in the area. We'll be back....

Our Second Visit

  • 5 of 5

This delightful cottage has everything you need for a totally relaxing time even in inclement weather (which we had some of this year!). The view from the lounge window is ever changing as the weather rolls on by and the fast flowing river can be heard after heavy rainfall rushing down the dale.

The locals are very welcoming and the village pub is popular serving excellent meals that are good value for money.

Our second stay this June confirmed that there is nowhere better in the Dales to be. The walking from the cottage is plentiful so no need to drive miles. All you need to do is unpack and chill admiring the views from the lovely patio when dry or from the comfort of the sofa when not.

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

The description does not do this cottage justice- a perfect location within swaledale. Superb views. One of the nicest bedrooms we have ever stayed in. We visited with our two preschoolers- so enjoyed kites/dams/tiny tiny walks and poohsticks. We also enjoyed the Reeth Show and utilised the little bus service for linear walks.

The cottage itself was perfectly clean and all the little details thought of. Especially kind details for the children.

Thank you so much, we felt really well looked after and rested :-)

Another wonderful holiday at Roof Farm Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Leafing through the Guest Book we noticed that several guests keep coming back to Roof Farm Cottage and that is no surprise at all! We spent our annual summer holidays for two years in a row in this lovely cottage and just like last year we were sad to leave after two wonderful weeks with great weather and lots of walks, some of them starting from the door. We discovered the travelling chippy (great!) and also some great new walks. Thank you Rob and Sally for letting us enjoy this lovely cottage! and please do give our best wishes to our friends at the King's Head, we spent many a pleasant evening there enjoying the delicious food and the good company.

Fabulous1

We had a wonderful week! The cottage is cosy and warm and has everything you need to for a comfortable and happy stay. The views are breathtaking and it's a joy having the sheep and newborn lambs just outside the door! We had beautiful weather and were able to eat outside on the terrace for 3 days. We loved the Kings Head pub in Gunnerside (5 minutes walk) which is friendly and serves the best chips we have ever tasted! Excellent menu. Our Border Collie Gracie was so happy with stunning walks straight from the door. Rob and Sally, you made our holiday perfect in every way, from the moment we contacted you right until we had vacated your lovely cottage. Thank you. We highly recommend this beautiful little cottage to anyone who is thinking of a holiday in Swaledale.
