Cottage in Falmouth, Cornwall, England - Quiet Location, Easy Walk To The Beaches, The Coast Path And Falmouth Town Centre

3 Elm Grove is an attractive terraced fisherman’s cottage in a pretty street with a private courtyard garden with some sea views, within walking distance of Falmouth’s attractions. The house is available for weekly Summer lets from 27th April 2018. Please contact me for more details. Changeover day is Friday. The cottage interior is a harmonious mix of character and contemporary. The entrance hall leads into a spacious sitting room with wood burner, wooden floors, and a games area. With a large sofa and "lovers" armchair, this is the heart of the home, with all home comforts provided - books and games, 32” flat screen TV with Bluray DVD player, hifi, and WiFi throughout the house. Stairs lead down to the lower ground floor, with modern well-equipped kitchen/diner with wood burner, utility room and separate WC. Doors open onto the courtyard garden with seating area. The first floor offers 2 good sized bedrooms, with family bathroom. The master bedroom is a double, while the second bedroom can be made up with twin beds or a super king. There is no smoking inside the house, but there is no problem with smoking outside in the garden. Parking is free and on street. There is also a pay and display car park at the end of the street.

I moved to Falmouth in 2008, and was immediately made to feel extremely welcome by the locals around me, and fell in love with the beautiful scenery and sea scapes which surround the town.

Why Belinda LeBrocq chose Falmouth

When I was looking to buy a house in Falmouth. I wanted a period cottage, close to town and the beaches, with some outside space and room for friends and family to come and visit. 3 Elm Grove Cottages ticked all those boxes for me, and I very much enjoyed my time living there. With the new kitchen completed in 2012, it completely changed the way I lived in the house, and I spent most of my time enjoying this new space. I'm sure you will too.

What makes this cottage unique

The house is perfectly positioned, just minutes from town in one direction and the beaches in the other. Impressive Pendennis Castle is just up the hill, and the Maritime Museum can be seen through the windows. Whether you are a couple, family, or group of friends, you will find everything you need literally on the front doorstep.

Notes on accommodation: Please let me know in advance if you require a travel cot or high chair. Outside: Enclosed patio area with seating, table and umbrella. Raised flowers beds. Utility Room: Slim line dishwasher, second fridge/freezer (AKA wine/beer fridge!), microwave/convection over, washing machine and tumbler dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bathroom towels and linen are included. Please bring your own beach towels. The house is cleaned once a week on changeover day, including full linen change.

Lovely property, shame about the parking!

We stayed in this property for a week earlier this month (through a cottage company). Although we have no complaints about the house - it is beautifully furnished and very well equipped - the parking was an absolute nightmare. We could not park outside the property for the whole of our stay, We had to double park to unload on arrival and again to load up on departure. We had to park a long way down the road (almost at the railway station) and as soon as a space became available outside the house it was filled before we had time to get to our car and move it. To say there is ample parking on the road is incorrect and although we were informed (by the cottage company) that the other option is to park in Falmouth station car park, who wants to pay for a weekly permit at a cost of £46.00 which said permit can only be purchased via your mobile phone. Also the noise and endless traffic up and down the road of mini forklift trucks from the Trago warehouse was unbearable. Shame as the house is lovely but due to the above we would not stay here again.

Owner's Response: Falmouth is a lovely town to live in and also to visit, the only downside of it is that there is no residential parking allocated by the Council, so wherever you live or stay within the town, parking will be a issue, unless you stay in one of the hotels or bed and breakfasts which have their own car parks. The Cottage is situated 2 minutes from the town, and unfortunately this means that sometimes people park on the Avenue instead of paying in one of the Pay and Display car parks, it is one of the drawbacks of living so centrally. I am surprised to hear that one particular guest was not able to park outside the Cottage for the duration of their stay, I have never had this feedback from any other rental guests, and even when I live in the Cottage myself, I have always been able to park outside the Cottage or elsewhere on the Avenue. I wouldn't feel that having to unload on yellow lines just opposite the Cottage is too much of a hardship, and I often do this myself with luggage or shopping. There are mini folklift trucks that run up and down the Avenue, but this is a working town, thank goodness, and it is good for the town that the wheels of industry are still turning, and Falmouth is still a thriving and busy place to be, unlike so many other towns in Cornwall that are struggling. If guests are looking for idyllic peace and quiet, I suggest they stay in the countryside and not in the heart of a town.

From Falmouth there is easy access onto some of the best sailing waters anywhere in the West Country, with the Helford River, the Fal Estuary, Falmouth Bay and Mylor Yacht Harbour all within reach. Boat rentals can be arranged at Mylor Yacht Harbour or from Falmouth Yacht Brokers in Penryn. There are nearby schools for surfing, wind surfing and dinghy sailing.


Half a mile from the nearest town beach, Gyllyngvase and the next door Swanpool beach.


The nearest train station is 5 minutes walk from the house (Falmouth Town Station), which connects to the mainline at Truro, which has a direct rail link to London (Paddington) with a journey time of approximately 4 hours. Air travellers can fly to Newquay, which is 30 miles away.


Truro 10 miles. Newquay Beaches 23 miles. St Ives 25 miles. The Eden Project 25 miles. Lands End 35 miles. The South West Coast path can be joined within 5 minutes walk from the house and the award-winning Maritime Museum is only 2 minutes' walk away.

The main street in Falmouth is packed with art galleries, award-winning restaurants, intimate bars, local pubs, independent shops, the Maritime Museum, fish and chip shops, Pasty shops, surf shops, all the local banks, and the usual high street chain stores. There is also a good Farmers' Market on Tuesdays.
