Farmhouse was fantastic! Everything about it was fantastic. Perfect location, perfect facilities, lovely meal at the Royal Oak round the corner. Will definitely book again. Booking etc was all so easy. Fantastic!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we stayed in the farmhouse last year with a larger group of friends and loved it's location. Both properties are lovely, very clean and well equipped. They are with walking distance of a couple of nice pubs and within easy reach of Keswick. Loads of lovely walks nearby too. Would definitely recommend. Owners are very helpful too.
Family of 5 and small dog spent a great weekend in the Mews Cottage for two nights.... Cottage was perfect for a short get away, facilities were very clean and welcoming... snug lounge area, warm showers and functional kitchen provided everything we needed. Great location in the centre of Braithwaite... small local shop and fantastic food at the Royal Oak... Hope to visit again !
Just back from a 5 night break at The Old Farm House, cottage 2, and all I can say is please give this place consideration if you are looking for a getaway in the lakes.
We stayed in cottage number 2 which has a cosy sitting room, a very well equipped kitchen, downstairs twin bedroom and bathroom. Upstairs has a very comfortable mezzanine double bedroom. All benefit from central heating.
The location is lovely, the village shop is just over the bridge and there are a few pubs/restaurants within a few minutes walk. Keswick is also only a 5 min drive or a lovely walk away.
From the cottage there is a view of Barrow fell which I walked on Boxing Day. It's only a small fell and took about 2 hours in total. The views of Derwent and Bessenthwaite are stunning, the ascent from the farm is steep however there is a second, easier route up past the Coledale Inn.
We met the owners who live off site and they are so friendly. (I must thank you again for the extra night).
We had a very cosy, comfortable stay and would highly recommend these cottages, and they are open all year round!
We stayed in Mews Cottage 2 for 3 nights and it was great. Clean, comfortable and just what we wanted. This cottage was ideal in that we could bring our 2 labradors and my mother in law who has reduced mobility but there was a twin room and the shower-room on the ground floor as she is unable to do stairs. It was quiet but very central in the village with some lovely walks from the door. Particularly liked the walk across the way, past the caravan park to Stair. We were lucky as the weather was just gorgeous. The kitchen looked to be well equipped but we only used the kettle as we ate out every night! I think it would be a bit snug for 6 people but fine for 4. We would definitely return as it ticked all our boxes. Loved the seat out the front- sat there a few times soaking up the sun and lovely views. Lovely meals at the Coledale Inn and the Royal Oak- both in the village. All in all a lovely weekend.Highly recommended.
