Idyllic, rural retreat.

I had booked a surprise weekend break for my husband's birthday and this property delivered in every aspect.A peaceful and beautiful location, just over a mile from central St David's. The cottage was beautifully decorated to a very high standard, with excellent quality bedding and linens as well as furniture made to relax in. The property was very well equipped with everything from a hairdryer to dishwasher and every room was spotlessly clean. There was plenty to do in around St David's - cliff jumping in Abereiddy, walks along the coastal path, surfing in Whitesands and plenty more information and ideas in the information book at the property. There are plenty of places to eat out, in and around St David's, again plenty of recommendations in the information book. Thanks also to Fey for meeting us on arrival and to Hazel for opening up her home to guests. Hope to be back soon.

Stylish and full of character

Just a mile or so from St David's, this very stylish Chapel conversion works extremely well, and is a great base to stay in a popular area. The Old Chapel is comfortable, cosy, and smart - well thought-out, with good facilities for cooking, dining, and chilling out (not sure about the cooker controls, but it all worked!).

Great bedrooms and bathrooms, and a sunny patio at the rear.

We were delighted to find this retreat and hope to return - highly recommended on all fronts.

Fantastic property and location!!

I have stayed in this property a number of times, returning because we love it so much. It is a beautiful property, which has been renovated to an excellent standard and is a very special place. It is in a wonderful location, well located for both a number of fabulous beaches, walks and also close to the lovely town of St David's.

The property is light, airy, well laid out and very clean, with high quality furnishings, bed linen and towels. The owners are very helpful and I would thoroughly recommend this property. It is one of my favourite places.

Little Gem....

Wow... we loved this place!

The cottage is a little piece of tranquillity set on the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast.

On arrival we instantly switched off from the worries and stresses of everyday life - the whole place has a really calming influence on you by the way it's decorated and by the beautiful setting and surroundings.

We enjoyed coastal walks and fresh air (as well as a few visits to one of the many lovely local pubs... 'The Sloop Inn' in Porthgain is a must)!

With a 4 year old we were concerned that there wouldn't be much in the way of entertainment for him but we needn't have worried - trips to the beach, fish & chips on the sand and a impromptu swim in the Blue Lagoon were enough to put a smile on his face and with all the fresh air it was early nights for him and time for the adults to enjoy a bottle of wine on the outside deck area and watch the sunset... perfect!

Luxury idyllic coastal retreat

We hesitated to write a recommendation, because the more people who know how wonderful this property is, the harder it will be for us to book it again. We will be back! Hazel and Paul have done a fantastic job of renovating this amazing coastal retreat. The location is perfect with lovely beaches close by. We were spoilt for choice with lovely restaurants in St David's which is just 5 mins. We enjoyed many coastal path walks which ended in cream teas or a cold glass of wine or beer in the harbour. Our son and daughter enjoyed the surfing at whitesands beach, whilst we lazed in the sunshine.

Location

We wanted to buy a bolt hole in a beautiful location near the sea so that we could just take off for the weekend or during the school holidays at a moments notice. Pembrokeshire and St David's in particular is a wonderful location near endless lovely beaches, somewhere we can relax and will never tire of.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Restaurant : St David's at 1 Miles Nearest Beach : Whitesands at 2 Miles Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

Whitesands is the closest beach, just over 2 miles away and approx 5 minutes drive or a walk across country. It is a beautiful sandy beach in the National Park which has a 'blue flag' award. Caerfai bay is through St Davids, past the visitors centre and approx 5 minutes by car. It is a lovely sandy cove surrounded by coastal paths, parking is at the top of the cliff and access to the beach is steep. The views from the top are stunning and should not be missed....

Travel:

Use of a car would be advisable however there are plenty of cycle routes in the National Park.

Distances:

St Davids, the lovely smallest cathedral city in the UK is just over a mile away. There are plenty of places of interest to visit including Solva a harbour village 10 mins, Porthgain 10 mins in the opposite direction - another harbour with pub, fish restaurant and gallery. The well known Blue Lagoon hosts many of the coasteering activities and the Red Bull diving competition. Haverford West, which is half an hour drive, has an out of town retail park and central town for shopping.

Further Details:

There are plenty of sea based activities such as coasteering, kayaking or surfing. Fishing trips and sea adventure jets for those seeking adrenaline kicks or sight seeing of local wildlife including dolphins, puffins and seals, well known in this area of Pembrokeshire, are also popular.

Other activities include horse riding on the beach, or for those wanting to go faster there is Karting in Haverford West.

The Pembrokeshire coastal path is famous for lovely walks with stunning scenery, and there is much to explore by bicycle (cycle hire from St Davids).

St Davids itself is a very small cathedral city with a number of shops, banks and a pharmacy including Crew, Fatface, TYF organic clothing, Moshulu and some other unusual gift and clothing stores and trendy surf shops. It has galleries and a glass studio displaying local artists work and it's own little quaint chocolate shop. For groceries there is a deli, vegetable shop, small supermarket and independent butchers. There are plenty of places to choose to eat ranging from the 'Cwtch' restaurant to pubs and cafes serving fresh smoothies, coffees and cream teas, lunches and evening meals.

There is a lovely fish restaurant at Porthgain harbour, and a number of places not too far for fine dining and special occasions.

For any bookings within the 8 week period leading up to the arrival the full amount will be taken. A further refundable deposit will be required for damages which will be due prior to receipt of keys and returned within 7 days of leaving.

Changeover Day:
Preferred changeover is Friday however this may be flexible. Arrival check in time is 4pm to allow time for cleaning however if ready earlier then this may be flexible. Check out will be at 10am on the day of departure.

Please note it is open plan living accommodation and bedroom walls are open to the rafters which is an attractive design feature but noise may travel. Outside: There is a double lawned garden to the front of the property which catches the morning and midday sunshine and has views to the hamlet cottages and rural countryside. The rear of the property is a west facing decked area with 2 steamer chairs and table and chairs. Ideal for those seeking a great space for an evening drink and BBQ to watch the sunset. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Bed linen is included, 2 hand towels, bath towels and tea towels. Please bring own beach towels. The property is cleaned on arrival and departure.
