Very homely and cozy cottage

We stayed for 2 nights at this beautiful cottage. We was welcomed by the owner who was very helpful and friendly and he showed us around and it had everything you would want for a romantic getaway. It was very clean, very spacious and the log fire gave it that extra special touch. The kitchen was very well equiped and had coffee, tea provided. Upstairs bedrooms are very impressive with a stunning bathroom and master bedroom having its own unsuite

The cottage is situated in a beautiful area with breathtaking countryside views and the villege is very quiet and has a pub directly behind the cottage which we could access via the cottage's garden. The pub was very cozy and the food was amazing.

We would highly recommended staying here and we cant wait to come and visit again and we might even bring our kids next time lol.

A beautiful cottage in a wonderful part of the world

We chose this cottage based on it being dog friendly and its location within the Eden Valley and proximity to the Lakes. It actually delivered a lot more than this, and we are delighted to have discovered this gem of a holiday cottage.

Arrangements to book the cottage, obtaining arrival details and sorting out keys were all very straightforward. There was a bottle of red waiting for us when we arrived and the owner, Kenton, met us at the property in the evening to ensure that we had settled in OK. The cottage is very clean throughout, and all bed linen and towels provided were clean and recently changed. We didn't have any issues at all during our stay so didn't need to contact Kenton again, but we were reassured by the fact that he lives locally to the cottage, so had we needed his assistance he would be able to respond quickly,

The cottage has been beautifully renovated throughout, the photos on the website do not show how spacious the cottage is which was a welcome surprise. All of the rooms are a good size, and the pantry area off the kitchen was really handy. The garden is securely fenced on all sides and the conifers provide privacy from the pub and car park to the rear. There was plenty of wood provided for the log burner, although the weather was dry and mild for most of the week we were there so we only used it a couple of times.

The staff at the nearby pub, The Masons Arms, were really accommodating. Dogs are allowed in the pub, but we were concerned about taking ours in for a Sunday lunch (they are liable to beg everyone for food, not just us!) so the Landlady, Karen, arranged for a "take away" service! The food and service was fantastic.

We will definitely be returning to Kenton's cottage again in the future and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

Lovely 2 bed cottage in very quiet village

This was the second time we have stayed in this cottage (we never have stayed in the same cottage twice before!) and just as last time it was lovely.

The keys were left in the door for us upon arrival as we had been before and knew where it was. The owner (Kenton) did check in on us in the evening to make sure everything was ok.

The cottage is very spacious and pretty modern. The garden is dog proof which with 2 dogs is a massive bonus, though there are some lovely walks around the village!

The pub is just to the back of the cottage but any noise coming from it cannot be heard inside the cottage.

The log burner is really nice and heating works well.

Only 2 down sides to the cottage:

the first one is that if you enjoy hot baths the bath when filled isn't very hot (as it probably uses up all the hot water) but the 2 showers are fine.

The second one is that the DVD player doesn't have a remote which is fine if you want to watch a movie (there are dvd's at the cottage) as you can just use the buttons on the dvd player to start the dvd. But if you want to watch series and want to select and start episodes it is not possible. We remembered this from the first time we stayed and brought our own dvd player. The TV is MASSIVE!

Would we stay again? Yes we will, probably same time next year.

Its close to the lakes (ullswater is lovely) and close to the A66.

Excellent spacious base with good facilities, ideal for exploring Lakes and Eden Valley with dogs.

All arrangements went to plan and we received a warm welcome from Kenton. There was also a bottle of wine ready on the table much enjoyed during our birthday celebrations over the weekend. Booking is very flexible which was brilliant as we only wanted a two night stay over the weekend (Sat and Sun). Our party consisted of 4 adults and 2 border collies. The accommodation was ideal for all. Both bedrooms were spacious, one with a good ensuite and the other next to a roomy family bathroom - so no waiting for the bathroom in the morning! Downstairs accommodation was just as spacious with a lounge/diner and a breakfast kitchen with laundry room. Everywhere was clean, well equipped and tastefully dressed without clutter. The very large TV was a bonus. All was ready for the woodburner should it be required but the central heating soon warmed everywhere adequately. Outside was a secure private grassed area suitable for the dogs to run out in or for sitting out or opening French doors onto during good weather. The position of the barn is in the middle of the village with no rural outlook but all main windows are onto the garden rather than the quiet street and opposite houses. Lots to really commend this property! Have only given 4 stars because of location and mainly because unfortunately previous guests had not cleared spillage off twin bedroom carpet so it was badly stained and ready for an annual clean. Such a shame for Kenton that they spoiled such a nice cottage.

Lovely barn conversion in a very quiet location.

Ideal location as a base to visit north lakes & north yorks. Away from it all lovely barn conversion with everything you need from a home away from home. Nice pub backing onto property but nothing else in the immediate area. Would be nice to return for a longer stay.

Lovely place and very welcoming owner

We stayed at the barn for three days and thoroughly enjoyed our time. We were made to feel very welcome by Kenton and the barn was spotlessly clean and very homely. We would definitely like to return.
