A charming and characterful fisherman’s cottage situated in the very heart of Salcombe, within only a moments walk of the ferry steps. Sherbourne Cottage is situated in the centre of the town and is very convenient for all the towns local amenities, a short ferry tide from the East Portlemouth beaches and readily accessible to the harbour. The character of the cottage gives it a warm welcoming feel. Wi fi is connected.

Outside there is a charming patio area, with table and chairs and electric BBQ for customers to use. To the right are steps that lead directly down to the estuary.

We have owned our beautiful cottage in Salcombe for over 10 years, and have completely refurbished it over that time. Our children love it as much as we do, and the locality is just perfect for a family holiday. No steep hills to climb after a lovely day on the beach, and of course just a trot down the road to the sweet shop and stores!!! What could be better!!!

We stayed in this lovely cottage in Salcombe for a week in early April, and although the weather was not good, we were warm and cosy inside.

A great position in town, and a lovely experience - definitely 5 stars.

Cosy cottage in perfect location

We stayed for a week in the cottage and found the location perfect for eating out, shopping and dining. A few steps from the ferry to East Portlemouth, which we used on several occasions to access the excellent beaches and clifftop walks. The cottage itself was very well equipped and maintained, with useful extras like the electric barbecue, which we used to have steaks on the patio. We ate out on a few occasions and particularly liked the Victoria Inn.

It's difficult to get parked near the property, so we bought a seven-day permit which allowed us to use the long-stay car park 5-10 minutes' walking distance (that permit also allows use of several other car parks across the South Hams).

I can't really fault the cottage, though some may find the stairs a slight challenge. The owner, Ann Smith, was very pleasant to deal with and I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to friends or relatives. I certainly hope I have the opportunity to visit again in the future.

A beautiful snug cottage, feet away from Fore Street but miles away from the noise!

A 5 day visit to celebrate the New Year with a couple of friends....

The cottage was perfect for us - nice and quiet, snug and warm, despite the incredible wind and rain we experienced and a superb base to enjoy the delights of Salcombe.

In common with the majority of properties here, parking can be an issue, particularly at this time of year, when most of the long-stay car park is taken up by yachts ashore for the winter, but patience and a bit of hunting will secure a space and a brief stop on Fore Street to load/offload is no great hardship.

We had a fab time and I would certainly recommend this property.....well furnished, well maintained and well managed

Sherbourne Cottage - perfect

This cottage was just ideal for a family with 2 children, being just a hop and skip from the middle of town, and yet away from all the hurly burly. The estuary was just 100 yards away, and we spent a great deal of time just sitting on the step watching the boats go by.

The cottage had everything we needed, just a lovely little hideaway!

Nearest airport is Exeter, and car hire is recommended from there.


Exeter and Plymouth are both approx. 40 minutes away

Bookings are taken from Friday to Friday for weekly lets. Short breaks are taken for a minimum of 3 days.
For weekly lets:
A damage deposit of £100 is required and of course returned once the cottage checks out.
A holding deposit of £100 is required to hold the accommodation and this is deducted from the final payment which is required 1 month before arrival.

  • Notes on accommodation: The cottage is very snug and cosy! There is a very efficient combination boiler what gives instant and very hot water when required. Outside: There is a patio area at the front of the property with garden tables and chairs. An electric BBQ is in the property for guests use. Restricted parking is available on the high street just above the cottage, unrestricted parking available on roads higher up the town. There is a long stay car park available and should you wish to purchase a ticket prior to arrival, just call the tourist office and they can post it to your home address, their number is 01548 843927 Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Prices quoted are inclusive of bed linen for two guests, bathroom towels, bath mats and departure cleaning. Beds are made up and ready for arrival. Beach towels are not included Other: Sadly, we are unable to take animals in the cottage. The cottage has full central heating, and a combi boiler.
