I rented this lovely house for a week with my daughter, son in law and 4 grandchildren and cannot recommend it enough. The house has a lovely welcoming feeling to it. It contains everything you need for a really comfortable stay. The rooms are spacious, tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. The garden is enclosed and safe for little ones to run around in. It even has a snug with games and a Wii to entertain the older ones.

The kitchen has a fabulous range cooker which is ideal for cooking for lots of people and the large table to sit around eating and drinking whilst discussing your day with each other.

We will definitely book again as we really enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic House

  • 5 of 5

As Westward Ho! 'veterans' we have stayed in many locations, but this is without doubt the best. It couples being modern and stylish, with being entirely practical for a large group. From the amazing range cooker, to having three bathrooms to the Wii for a rainy day it's all spot on. It made a massive difference having somewhere that we wanted to come back to and spend time after enjoying the many delights of the Ho! rather than just having a place to put your head down. Little touches on arrival were the icing on the cake. Our entire party would have no hesitation in recommending Westward Ho!me. Thanks for a great stay, we hope to be back soon.

What a lovely house - the perfect location for all local amenities and superbly furnished throughout. As soon as you open the door there is a ho!mely feeling with spacious accommodation which is well laid out for a large family get together.

Having lived in the area previously for 20+ years before moving away, we are frequent visitors to Westward Ho!, but for those reading who have never been before you really should come. A superb beach, stunning vistas on the coastal path and some great places to visit you will have problems fitting it all in. Finally a word or too about our hosts Wendy and John. Thanks for being so helpful when we asked to move dates and for calling to find out how our stay was. We will be back.

Fabulous holiday home by the sea

  • 5 of 5

Westward Ho!me is the perfect place for a get together by the sea. The comfortable accommodation created a lovely relaxed environment for seven of us including 4 kids/teens. The younger members of our party monopolized the comfy living room and games room. Essentially for us, the WiFi worked well! The location is perfect for a beach / surf holiday. It is a short walk to the beach over the Burrows and pebbleridge and one of the surf schools is on the way. The close proximity to supermarkets, take-outs and restuarants means you can interpret "self catering" as no cooking at all! We particularly enjoyed sitting around the big kitchen table after a long day on the beach sharing the days experiences in the surf. We would recommend this property as ideal for a great beach/surf holiday for families and friends.

Beautiful house in ideal location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time here and loved the house. It's beautiful, really tastefully decorated, spacious and comfortable, and the owners have clearly thought of everything and created exactly what you need in a holiday home. I particularly liked all the bathrooms - original Victorian decoration but with better modern showers than we have at home! Our kids loved the house - there are so many bedrooms and extra rooms we all had a fantastic game of hide and seek on the one day it rained. There are two lounges, one with games consoles as well as TV, so it was ideal for when we wanted to be separate but they are next door to each other so you can keep an eye on the kids without being with them.

It's down a dead end with virtually no traffic that leads directly to pasture and then the beach, so it was very quiet and also safe - we could let the kids wander round and look at the horses and sheep grazing. It's also very near Westward Ho, which has become much nicer since we stayed here 10 years ago.

We will definitely book this again and thoroughly recommend it to everyone. Many thanks for a great holiday!

There is something for everyone around this part of Devon whether you like walking, surfing, cycling, golfing, sight-seeing, fishing or soaking up beautiful scenery without feeling too remote and cut-off. Westward Ho! has everything you need on your doorstep and has a friendly character all of its own.

Facilities

From the Owner

The property provides character and space in a great location with plenty of do for us and the kids. The Burrows are only 50 meters away and give access to the beach for swimming, surfing, fishing for bass and mackerel and the South West Coast Path. We also go to the Pebble Ridge, Westward Ho! sea defence, to see the spectacular sunsets over Lundy island. If you enjoy delicious, traditional ice cream seek out the Hockings vans in Westward Ho! and Appledore from Easter onwards. If you are into golf try the Royal North Devon Golf Course as it provides a great test of true links golf or venture further to Saunton to play the most beautiful course you will ever see.
