Overview

About the property

3 bedroom cottage with a large Inglenook Fireplace, & Garden with pretty Summerhouse

Old Turnpike Cottage (sleeping 6+), appeared as their "Thatched Property of the Week" in the Sunday Times - a charming traditional stone, thatched cottage in the pretty Wiltshire village of Teffont which is mentioned in the Domesday Book. It has a large inglenook fireplace and its own private south facing lawned garden with great views and a summerhouse. There are good transport links (Tisbury railway station is 4.4 miles away) and the village is 2.5 miles from the A303. Nearby there are great walks, country pubs, a National Trust property (Dinton Park & Philipps House) beautiful views of the English countryside. It is ideally situated for exploring all the local attractions of Stonehenge, Old Sarum, Salisbury Cathedral, Wilton House and the Nadder Valley which is well known for its fishing. Bath is a little further away and Bournemouth and its beaches about one hour's drive.

We love the area and it is close to family.

Beautiful Cottage, very clean and everything was to a very high standard

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this holiday cottage is outstanding.......the detailed information we received before our stay was fantastic as was being met by the caretaker who gave us a thorough overview of the cottage. I had taken my Parents and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay, as did I. It's all the little details Charlotte and Andy have covered in the cottage; my Mum continuously commented how nice the cottage smelt, how nicely it was decorated and to such a high standard. The beds were extremely comfortable and having afternoon tea outside the summer house was bliss. We ate out at three of the pubs that had been suggested and all were brilliant. The village is idilic as are the views when driving around this area. I highly recommend this cottage and hope that I am lucky enough to visit again one day.

Great host and lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

After staying in other cottages, I have to say the owners of the Old Turnpike are the most accommodating and thoughtful hosts. We had everything we needed for a 7 day stay. Would highly recommend for the beauty of the location and convenience.

Lovely cosy cottage beautifully furnished

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our short stay - the cottage was beautifully furnished and very cosy. It was well stocked for our arrival and the caretakers - Terri and Paul - made us very welcome. The setting is lovely with easy access to Salisbury, Stonehenge and National Trust properties in Wiltshire. The cottage also has a large garden and was in a very quiet location.
