About the Owner
About Jo Mackay
I am a mother with 2 children, age 9 & 12 and a very busy husband! I gave up work with Procter and Gamble 9 years ago to spend time at home with the children. I have loved being able to spend so much time with them. However, with both children now at school, I was keen to start working again. I initially enjoyed managing two of our own holiday properties in the Italian Lakes which we bought in 2008 and 2009 following our first visit to the area in 2007. However, I have now started to manage holiday homes for others, not just in the Italian Lakes, but elsewhere in Italy through my website - I carefully select each property and ensure that I maintain that personal but professional service level that I believe holidaymakers are looking for.
Why Jo Mackay chose Siena Area

It is about 2 km from the city and the walk is pleasant however, if you prefer a lazier stay, it's also very easy to get a bus into the city centre. Siena is wonderful and offers wonderful sights and attractions as well as some fabulous restaurants and shops.

Activity and Interests
Special interest holidays:
There are a wealth of activities to enjoy during your stay whether it's wine tasting and a tour of a local vineyard or a trip to the olive groves and olive oil tasting. Guided tours (from tours of Florence to tours of the outlet malls) can also be arranged as can cookery courses of various lengths to suit your party. We can also prepare dinners at the property for you, from casual meals to save you cooking on your first night to more formal dinners for special occasions. The quickest coastal resort to drive to would be Grosseto an hour way. Alternatively Livorno and Cecina are 90 minutes away. Alternatively, you might prefer to head inland to Lake Trasimeno in neighbouring Umbria. There are lakeside beaches here and the shallow waters are ideal for those with children. Since the water is shallow it tends to be lovely and warm too! It will take just an hour to get to one of the main towns on the lake - Castiglione del Lago.
Guests have the option of flying into a number of airports. The nearest is Florence, around an hours drive away. Alternatively, for low cost airlines, Pisa and Perugia are around a 90 minute drive. Rome airport is a longer transfer and will take 2.5 hours. The property is within walking distance of the train station in Siena and within walking distance of the historic centre of the city.
The centre of Siena is a 2km walk from the villa. If guests prefer, there is a bus stop near the property with frequent buses in and out of the city centre. Florence, Arezzo and Perugia are all within an hours drive of the property.
