About the Owner

We purchased Stronachlachar Lodge back in February 2013. As well as running the Lodge as Holiday Accommodation, we use the Lodge for family holidays. As such, we have created a home away from home and have spent a lot of time upgrading the property and ensuring it is fully stocked with everything you will need.

Stronachlachar Lodge Review

  • 5 of 5

This property is in a superb location and is an excellent property for a large family group or a large group of friends. Great sized rooms with with fully equipped kitchen make this property very comfortable. The views are fantastic with walking and cycling right on the doorstep. Would stay again without hesitation.

A truly wonderful home from home. A great space , every need and comfort was provided.

  • 5 of 5

Fell in love with Scotland and all surrounding views, walks and cycle rides. Go ape was perfect for all the family. Canoeing on the loch was loved by all....and no disasters! The local cafe was a hit as was the walk across country to Loch Lomond. The games room was great and we enjoyed many games of pool. We were very lucky with the mild weather. Ok we did miss a pub not being in walking distance but that was all. Would not hesitate to recommend this to friends and family.

Beautiful location, impressive accommodation

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time. The views and surrounding area were beautiful. The lodge was impressive, spacious and comfortable. The amenities were all good except for one - the advertised wifi connection was very poor.

Family break

  • 5 of 5

Myself along with 9 other adults, 2 children and 1 baby all stayed here for a long weekend and had a wonderful time. The home is beautiful and extremely well kitted out for a large group of people with plenty of utensils crockery etc to use. The location is just spectacular with fantastic views, it is a little remote so not a great deal to do out and about but that is what we wanted. Plenty of fire wood to have them going too. The only thing I did find was the house was very cold when we arrived and took quiet a time to heat up, it would have been nice to arrive to a warm house given that it was very cold outside.

I would highly recommend for a relaxing break away and most definitely return.

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of eight adults and two small children spent two wonderful weeks at the Stronachlachar Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. The property was very well maintained with plenty of tastefully decorated bedrooms and rooms for recreation/reading as well as a huge, well equipped kitchen with seating for everyone. The entire lodge was quiet, even from crying babies, because of its solid construction and sturdy doors. Looking out our front windows to beautiful Loch Katrine and early morning sunrises was a special treat.

Although several reviews have mentioned the road from Aberfoyle to Stronachlachar as difficult, it was well paved and although narrow, it offered amazing scenery and could be completed in less than 30 minutes. We picked up groceries near the Glasgow airport (after our flight arrival) as well as at the Co-op food store in Aberfoyle. Most meals were prepared and eaten at the lodge. We hiked to Inversnaid for lunch one day and also walked on the road along Loch Katrine’s northern shore. Many evenings were spent with a cozy fire in the large living room. The internet connection was best near the kitchen’s wireless router and was adequate for catching up on emails and moderate business needs. However, our primary concern for choosing this lodge was to be away from hectic work schedules and relax in Stronachlachar’s beautiful surroundings. Cath and Graham’s well maintained lodge certainly allowed our ten family members to do just that. We highly recommend the property, especially for families or larger groups!

Stonachlachar LOVE

  • 4 of 5

We had the loveliest stay at the Lodge. 11 of us (including 2 children ages 3&5) were extremely comfortable. The ample supply of games (children and adults), toys (my kids were THRILLED with the train set, miscellaneous action figures etc) and books (fiction and local area history and trivia) were a very pleasant surprise. The location was idyllic. Highlights: Open kitchen with plenty of room for cooking, card playing and merriment into the wee hours without disturbing those who like to go to bed early, long walks without seeing another soul, afternoons drinking whiskey by the chiminea, ice cream/ tea/ snacks and visits with "Phoebe" (the dog) at the Cafe, outdoor play on the open grassy places with the little ones, winding drives to Aberfoyle (and beyond) that made you feel like you were on a grand adventure every time you pulled out of the driveway . One note: We were surprised that our rental shared walls with and had outside entertainment spaces abutting several other holiday rentals. Did not see/divine that from the listing (maybe we missed?). Made the location feel a bit less remote than we had hoped. Luckily everyone was friendly and no one seemed to mind our outdoor play with the little ones. All and all a pretty darn perfect experience. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
