About the Owner

Our family roots have been in Bude since the 18th century with links to the notoriously dangerous merchant sailing ships navigating in and out of Bude's harbour.

We have owned the Beach House since 1984 and have enjoyed many happy times there as a family and with friends over the years.

There are photographs in the house showing the timeless appeal of beach holidays from times gone by.

The artwork inspired by the house and it's surroundings adds to the character of the Beach House much of it painted by the house's owner.

We hope that you enjoy your holidays!

Great house and location

  • 5 of 5

House is very well equipped and there was enough space for all of us (we had 8 - 80 age group). It's brilliantly situated and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Excellent house and great adventure weekend.

  • 5 of 5

Beach house is an amazing property in a fantastic location. It is a short walk from Crooklets beach, Summerleeze beach and the main town centre. The house is BIG and a great communal space for family and friends to enjoy. There is outside space to front and back to sit, enjoy and store all your wet kit. The ping-pong table is a great addition. The owner was excellent to deal with and the communication and help fantastic. I would highly recommend and hope to visit again soon. Chillie Dippers at the Bude Tidal Pool Channel Challange 2016

Great house , Fantastic holiday

  • 5 of 5

This has to have been the best holiday ever. The whole family enjoyed staying at the house, it is huge but still very comfortable. It has everything you could want from a holiday house, we are already thinking of booking again next year and making it an annual family holiday. There is plenty to do and you do not have to drive any where to do it. FANTASTIC

Perfect Stay

  • 5 of 5

My family all stayed here to attend a wedding and took the house for a week. The location was absolutely perfect for everyone, the beach and nearby park and cafes were fab for the kids and there were lovely restaurants just around the corner.

The house itself was beautiful, immaculately clean and had so much space for all whilst managing to still feel lovely and homely. My whole family was so impressed with the property and the ease in which we were able to arrange the booking. We cannot recommend the property, or Jo highly enough. It was perfect!

The perfect seaside holiday home

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a comfortable, large house located a stone's throw from the beach, this is the perfect choice. We have been lucky enough to stay at Beach House on two separate occasions and have already booked our third week next year. The locations is just perfect. If boogie boarding or surfing is your thing, you can be down to the sea in just a few minutes and even better, back again to warm up! The house itself is perfect for up to 3 families with a host of things to do such as table tennis, a cupboard full of games, BBQ and a skate park within a minutes walk, not forgetting two good pubs round the corner as well as two great cafes on the sea front. The house is always perfectly clean, yet somewhere you feel you can relax, especially with young children. Without hesitation, I fully recommend a stay at Beach house.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Crooklets, Middle and Summerleaze Beach are all in front of the Beach House. Northcott, Widemouth, Welcombe, Duckpool and Crackington Haven are all nearby.

Most of these have life guards during the summer months.

They are all good for surfing, rock pooling and crabbing.

Summerleaze beach has a beautiful outdoor sea pool built into the cliffs.

It is one of the very few tidal swimming pools which still remains open to the general public.

Travel:

The nearest train station is Exeter, approx 1 hour from Bude.

The nearest airport is Newquay, approx 45 mins.

A car is recommended but not essential.

There is a bus connection from Exeter St Davids train station to Bude.

Distances:

There are many places of interest close by to explore.

You can visit the famous Eden project (40 miles) for a really tropical experience.

There are many other great places to visit including Rick Steins seafood restaurant in Padstow (36miles) and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen (40 miles), Minack Theatre, Lost gardens of Heligan, Camel valley vineyard (28 miles), Crealy adventure park and many more experiences that are unique to the region.

Also a great base for touring the whole of Devon.

Further Details:

Bude is not all about the beaches, listed here are some ideas that might be right for you, in and around Bude.

Indoor swimming pool, Canal activities including rowing & kayaking, Bird watching, Coarse and sea fishing, shooting, zorbing, sailing, windsurfing, abseiling, Bowling, Paint balling, golf, museum, National trust houses and castles, geographical and geological exploration, UKs only shark diving tours ( basking and others ) and Bude arts & music.

The nearest super market is Sainsburys, which is 5 minutes walk from the house.

There are a great selection of Cafes and restaurants, which we can recommend on request.

Bude was the sunniest place in the UK (2013) and voted the 7th best beach destination in the UK by Trip Advisor (2012).
