Villa in Sandy Lane Estate,Holetown,St James Quiet location On A Ridge Benefiting From Cooling Breezes, near Sandy Lane Beach

Alila is a memorable property on the platinum coast with over 7,000 square feet of covered space in an acre and a quarter of tropical gardens. The villa entrance leads to a bridge over an Oriental koi pond with an enclosed garden courtyard. The open plan living spaces and extensive use of beautiful hardwoods gives it a natural, organic feel... the instant reaction of most guests is that "the pictures don't do it justice".

The lounge, dining area (easily sits 10) are open to the cooling breezes, garden courtyard and infinity saltwater pool)

Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by the highly skilled staff who make themselves available for you at "the snap of a finger" while still giving you the space to relax and enjoy your getaway. Jasmine will make sure the villa is kept at tip top standard while Paul, the chef, creates wonderful local Bajan and international dishes for you to enjoy. Paul can also pack a lunch basket for the beach.

The master suite is very spacious,encompassing the entire upper floor. The oversized double bathroom has a lavish walk-in shower that leads out onto the private patio containing an outdoor tub. This patio overlooks the pool area, gazebo, the gully running along the north side and views to the coast to the west... a marvellous spot for capturing the sunsets.

The other three bedrooms are also well proportioned and they have their own generous bathrooms, aircon and ceiling fans.

The private,saltwater pool is 56' long and is crossed by a wooden bridge leading to the gazebo where you can enjoy a truly Caribbean outdoor dining experience.The saltwater pool is much kinder to the eyes,skin and hair :))

There is plenty of space for relaxation...There are televisions in the media room and master bedroom. Just relax with a little music, movie or cable TV.

I was born in Singapore and am presently living in East Sussex, UK.

Both my husband and I are retired.

We bought this property in 2004.

Why Jaime Grounsell chose Sandy Lane

We fell in love with Barbados when we first started coming to the beautiful island in 1999. After much consideration, we decided to buy a family home in 2004.

Then, it was just a tired single floor bungalow that needed much repair work and upkeep.

Weighing all the pros and cons, we decided to bite the bullet - we completely demolished and rebuilt our dream home. As I am from the Far East and very much for the Oriental influence, we decided to blend Balinese and Caribbean influences into our home.

Alila was born in early 2009 after two years of construction. By the way, Alila means 'surprise' in Sanskrit.

Family and friends certainly have filled this home with much fun,love and laughter.

Our quiet home is conveniently placed on a ridge to enjoy the soothing sea breezes and the easterly tradewinds throughout the villa.

It enjoys the benefits of having a private cabana on Sandy Lane beach.

There is also the convenience of the restaurants, cinema, high-end shops, large supermarket and medical centre just down the road.

Based upon our own experience and the positive comments in the guests' book, I am truly grateful for the amazing team of staff, Jasmin and Paul. Nothing seems too much trouble for them. Paul is a first class chef, he happily sits down with guests to understand their dietary preferences before making suggestions for the day. He will even do the grocery shop with you. Jasmin makes sure that the house is kept spotless and sees to your laundry regularly. An extra maid will be available if there are more than 6 guests. All of them have been brilliant with children.

What makes this villa unique

Naturally we are a little biased but we love our Barbados dream home. We spent hours tirelessly with our architect ensuring that the completed home would have a unique and distinctive feel to it. Many have enjoyed swimming or just having fun in the saltwater infinity pool..

The renowned Sandy Lane beach is just a couple of mins away.Guests of Alila have access to the newly restored Sandy Lane Property Owners beach facility .it has parking,restrooms,showers,sunloungers and shades provided free by the friendly staff. There is also a bar there.

Extra fold out beds can be hired if there is a party of 9 or 10 people The bedrooms are spacious enough to hold the extra beds Alila sits in an acre and a quarter of landscaped grounds, lovingly tendered by our gardeners. At the rear of the garden is a deep gully in which you may spot a tribe of monkeys which travel through daily. One can most certainly enjoy the very many tropical birds flitting about in the garden. The private infinity pool is 56 ft by 19 ft! our pool man comes to clean it regularly.

Our Own Bit of Paradise

Alila is a luxurious villa, owned by a wonderful family and staffed by a group of attentive, and friendly professionals. It may look expensive on the face of it but we enjoyed our own pool, exceptional meals served at our leisure ,- all for a cost less than an all inclusive. Four couples spent a fantastic week together and agreed that this is the way to go. Thank you David & Jaime. Each step and every contact with you, the property manager or concierge was prompt and professional. Paul, Jasmin and Jara provided us with perfect service.

Travel:

Barbados airport is to the South of the island, about 40 minutes away by car. We recommend hiring a car to get about exploring the island.We have an arrangement with a leading local car hire firm and should be able to arrange a 15% discount for you.

Distances:

Alila is part of the exclusive Sandy Lane estate on the West Coast of Barbados. It is about 5 minutes by car from Holetown, the main centre on the West Coast, which has shops and a range of restaurants and bars. Bridgetown is about 20 minutes, the airport about 40 minutes.

Further Details:

A villa manageress will look after you when you are in Alila. They can help with excursions, activities and restaurant recommendations.

The villa is in the prestigious Sandy Lane Estate, in very close proximity to Sunset Crest and Holetown shops and restaurants.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have by phone or email.

You can either book 3 or 4 of the bedrooms (except over Christmas and New Year). The rates shown above are for 3 bedroom rentals.We can provide prices for 4 bedrooms if that is what you need.

We appreciate that a cook may not be required, please contact us if that is the case.

We do have special offers during certain times of the year.

A cancellation charge of 100% of the full booking cost will be payable if notification of cancellation is received within 21 days of the start of the holiday. The cancellation charge will be 75% of the full booking cost if notification is received between 22 and 42 days before the start of the holiday and 60% if notification is received between 43 and 60 days prior to start of the holiday. The deposit will be non-refundable if notice of cancellation is received more that 60 days before the start of the holiday.




Changeover Day:
Most guests arrive on a Saturday or Sunday but we are flexible in this regard. Most planes arrive mid afternoon so our standard checkout time is 12 noon in order to allow the staff to prepare the villa for the next guests.

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
