Immaculately Maintained Villa With Superb Private Pool Area

Updated: 24-Mar-2016
Villa in Camposol, Nr. Mazarron, Costa Calida / Murcia, Spain - Prime Location Set Amid An Imposing Backdrop Of Murcia's Stunning Mountains And Countryside

Camposol is located close to Mazarron which is actually two towns in one. Mazarron itself is the main town with everything you would expect; a town hall, daily indoor fresh produce market, banks, medical facilities, shops, primary & secondary schools etc. Then there is the seaside resort town, Puerto de Mazarron with pedestrianised walkways, a new multi million euro marina complete with underground parking, shops, bars and restaurants and of course the beach which has been awarded the coveted Blue Flag for water quality over consecutive years. The thermal spring at El Saladillo, is a pleasant walk from the villa. Providing ample evidence of the volcanic nature of the area, the hot springs have a continuous stream of 50°C water flowing out of the ground. Several "splash pools" have been dug into the earth and several channels have been created for the hot water to flow. You can be completely immersed in the health giving waters if you so wish, they certainly refresh your skin. If visiting the Hot Springs please bear in mind that this is a natural location so if you wish to bathe you will need to make your own arrangements for changing and drying yourself. Amenities on Camposol within walking distance from the villa include supermarkets, bars offering light entertainment, a range of restaurants including Chinese, Indian, pizza, Italian and Spanish cuisine, car hire, hairdresser, bowling, Internet cafe, DIY store, medical centre etc. Although it isn't necessary to leave Camposol for eating, shopping or entertainment I do recommend car hire to fully appreciate what this splendid area has to offer. The port area is very attractive, it has a tree lined promenade and taking a leisurely walk along the paseo is a lovely way to spend a warm evening. There is a good choice of restaurants at reasonable prices (menu de dia at 7euros) and the port is approx. 12mins drive from Camposol. The harbour has recently being re-developed with a beautiful new marina at its centre to accommodate yachts as well as the small boats which fish these waters. Fishing is an important source of revenue in Mazarron, there are many varieties of fish in these waters, tuna and sardines being the largest hauls. A regular bus service serves the town and port. Mazarron Town has a daily indoor market for fruit and veg and a Saturday market selling fruit, veg, fish, meat and clothing etc. The Port of Mazarron has a huge outdoor Sunday market selling clothing, shoes, household goods, furniture and all manner of things. There is an evening street market in the port of Mazarron most evenings in the summer months and markets most days of the week in surrounding towns. Horse riding can also be booked nearby. Four lovely beaches are within a 15km drive, all these beaches are European blue flag and have lovely walks.

Lorca is a nearby town with a castle on the top of the hill which has narrated tours in English. This town also has a fantastic fiesta at Easter with marvellous floats and costumes. Murcia is the provincial capital of the region and is described as one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the country. It stands on the banks of the river and has retained its Moorish heritage, yet has fashionable boutiques, supermarket department stores and fine local cuisine. There are 20 impressive churches in the city including the baroque Cathedral which is worth visiting, as is the historic University, the Bishops Palace and the Casino built in the 19th century which has an amazing, palatial interior.

Cartagena is an ancient Roman coastal city, the old part of the city is quite spectacular and many of the buildings date back to Phoenician times. Cartagena has a beautiful and lively port area with lots of restaurants, from here conducted boat trips leave regularly, touring around the surrounding coastline. There is a Naval and Archaeological museum showcasing the rich history of the area. Narrated bus tours also give an insight into the city's fascinating past.

Nearby golf courses include the Sensol Golf Course which is just a 3 minute drive from the villa. A challenging 18 course set in beautiful open countryside with fantastic scenery especially on the back nine holes. This course has improved considerably over the years and is well worth a visit. The Sensol resort also hosts the Balneario Spa which has been designed with Feng Shui in mind to create a calming effect and has many features including a variety of saunas, steam rooms, showers, spa pools and a jacuzzi. There are beauty and facial treatment rooms, massage and anti-stress therapies, all surrounded by the stunning Japanese style indoor garden.

Polaris World Condado de Alhama Golf Course is also a 5 minute drive away. This is a long and challenging golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus. It also hosts an excellent practice area. Hacienda del Alamo Golf Course is set in open countryside, about a 25 minute drive from the villa. This is a championship course which has hosted several tournaments in the last few years. It has an excellent practice area and imposing club house.

The Costa Calida (warm coast) in Spain is bathed by the calm, warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Almost 90% of the year the sun is shining. During the summer temperatures rarely fall below 30°C, and winters are typically very mild around 18°C. The province of Murcia is famous for its salt lakes affecting humidity levels, and as a result the air is much dryer than other parts of Spain and Europe. The low humidity levels (less bites) together with the mild weather make the climate one of the healthiest climates on the planet as rated by the World Health Organization.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Fantastic place to stay, everything we could have wanted and more from a holiday. The kids loved the pool and my husband discovered he could use a BBQ! A beautiful villa in a wonderful part of Spain. Thanks again for letting us stay."

The Morris Family - August 2009.

"We visit Mazarron every year and we're delighted to have found this hidden gem. The price is perfect, especially as we have a large family and it never feels crowded as you have the apartment and house spread over three floors. I highly recommend this villa and we will stay again."

The Valdez Family - June 2011

"Booked the villa for a golfing holiday with friends. I was surprised just how much there is to see and do in this region of Spain so we didn't play as much golf as expected, which pleased the wives!"

From the Owner

We purchased this villa nearly 12 years ago after enjoying a couple of fantastic family holidays in the area. Quite simply this is a lovely villa in a beautiful location. The villa has 5 bedrooms split over 3 levels and a delightful pool area. It is fitted with all new modern appliances. There are many outside areas and a huge roof top solarium that provide a great place for socialising, BBQing or simply relaxing and enjoying the views. This area still has a lovely traditional Spanish feel with a growing Northern European influence. Neighbours can be French, Spanish, Scandinavian, Dutch etc

  • Notes on accommodation: The villa is built on three levels overlooking a private pool area that is the size of a small hotel. The villa also benefits from outstanding rural views to the mountains given its prime position on the development. Local amenities such as restaurants, bars, supermarkets, car hire etc. are all walking distance away. Smoking is not permitted inside the villa. As we have never had problems with any guests during the five years we have had the villa, we like to keep rules and conditions to a minimum and let common sense prevail. Outside: Private swimming pool with loungers, large outside area for BBQ and various solarium's on different levels for socialising, entertaining etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are provided. Other: There is a large private outdoor pool area and garden, solarium and balcony so plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy the sunshine. There is a BBQ for outdoor entertainment and the villa also has secure parking.
