An amazing holiday , superb apartment , excellent

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 9 days in this haven within Oliva Valentia Spain . From our arrival at the property Sheila and Eric were very friendly and welcoming . The apartment is beautifully appointed and very well equipped . The bathroom products are very' five star hotel 'and a real treat. We lacked nothing during our entire stay . The views from the terrace are breathtakingly stunning. I even managed to swim in the lovely pool which is perfect .Although we stayed in March nearly all of our meals were taken outside owing to the warm weather . Sheila and Eric were very knowledgable about the area and my particular favourite trip was to the Oliva Nova Equestrian centre to watch the show jumping . We feel we have found our special area of spain and gained some great friends . It doesn't get any better. A big thank you to you both for making us so very welcome . We will be back

Owner's Response: We are so very pleased Sally that you and Clive enjoyed your stay with us and our lovely gem of a town Oliva. You were both out and about in our glorious weather for March, yes even swimming in the pool brrrrr brave you Sally!!! We suggested various local towns for you to visit which you both enjoyed immensely, then arriving back at the Apartment to catch the remaining sunshine before cooking a hearty meal for yourselves eating al fresco under the stars. The Equestrian Centre certainly ticked the boxes for you both as your love of horses was apparent. We really enjoyed your stay here with us such a charming lovely friendly couple, we look forward to your return in the summer. Thank you Sheila and Eric.

Una delicia

  • 5 of 5

It's surprising how many people don't trust a good review, it is said that 'good' is not necessarily positive and are often not challenged, it is the negative ones that draw the most attention.

If that is the case, then my review will be largely ignored because I can write nothing but positive things about our recent holiday here.

From the first warm and firm welcoming handshake at the arranged meeting point to lead us to our accommodation to our final embrace on the last day with delightful, helpful, friendly owners Sheila and Eric our holiday ticked every single box.

We wanted peace, rest and relaxation and it came in abundance. We wanted a lovely, clean, inviting, well equipped, comfortable apartment in superb surroundings with wonderful views, we got that too. We wanted a local town, not commercial, that offered an array of good and varied restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and a fantastic clean beach. Got that as well.

The weather was exceptional for early October with just two days when the sun didn't shine. We took the opportunity to explore nearby Denia on one of those days. That was very nice too.

It was everything we wanted from our holiday and more.

But don't take my word for it, go try it yourself. You won't be disappointed, that I can promise you.

Which leaves me to say one final thing. Very many thanks Sheila and Eric. Bless you both.

Owner's Response: Hello Thankyou so very much for your stunning review especially pointing out the little gem that Oliva is. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay the Apartment is in such a quiet area to relax and chill out, enjoying swimming water not too bad even for October. Brian from day one!!! you said how much you were enjoying your holiday with Suzy which was great for us to hear. Eric and I try to make the holiday as quiet and relaxing as possible for our guests as we know how important it is after working hard and long hours especially guests like you Brian with your busy schedule. So very pleased that you both enjoyed your drive to our other local town Denia especially the little shops in abundance, the marina too, just sit and relax watching the boats sailing quietly by, whilst having a drink and a bite to eat, in one of the many restaurants situated along the marina. Yes the weather was great for almost the two weeks that you were with us, especially for October especially ordered by us for two such lovely people. Sheila and Eric with our very best wishes for your future happiness together.

Lovely place Lovely couple

  • 5 of 5

We booked for 3 weeks Eric met us on arrival and showed us around the apartment and the local area. It was not until the next day when we went to the pool did we see the stunning setting the apartment was in,the views are really spectacular. Throughout our stay we travelled around the local area and there are some beautiful towns and beaches to visit. When at the apartment it was always immaculate and Sheila and Eric were wonderful hosts who were happy to either be in the background or if you wanted a chat or information they were ready and willing. The BBQ area and pool were great and we made full use of these and the other facilities. Cleanliness and towels first rate. We enjoyed ourselves so much we enquired about the possibility of buying the villa next door. We would recommend this villa to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing holiday. Wayne and Denise

You were excellent guests such a charming couple, always happy and smiling, we could just see that you were enjoying your stay here in the Apartment in Oliva. We are always so ready and pleased to be of help to our guests whenever they need our directions to many of the wonderful places around and about. Also we are delighted that you found the amenities in the Apartment and the outside area to your taste, you mention the BBQ so pleased that you enjoyed using that. We pride ourselves on our fresh towels and cleanliness in the Apartment and Erics early morning cleaning around the pool area and pool, setting out loungers and towels for the start of another relaxing sunny day. Fantastic Villa, 5 star service!!!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking at this villa, stop thinking and just BOOK! My wife and I have just come back from a 5 night stay, Eric and Sheila are a lovely couple that go out of their way to ensure you have a relaxing break. The layout of the outdoor area of the property is great, you can dine outside in total privacy, the access to the BBQ was great. Eric is up first thing ever morning to clean the pool to ensure its ready for your use during the day time. The accommodation is very clean and compact and has everything and more that you could need. The local town of Oliva just an 8 minute drive away. All in all we had a wondering relaxing time and will most defiantly be back next year.

Clean, bijou, not private#Mrs. Bucket

Having read all the glowing reviews, I'm finding it hard to explain our experience of this property and its owners The apartment sits beneath the main house; it has a nice little kitchen/sitting room, bathroom and bedroom. The outside space is mostly 'shared' with the owners, so although you do have sole use of the pool, you are overlooked by their part of the house. The time you can use the pool is limited from 9am in the morning - a rule introduced because the couple before us had taken their breakfast outside at 8am, and Sheila felt that was too early for her to have wiped the table over before they used it. At one point, Sheila came and put the sun shades down, even though we were using them, as it was breezy. The feeling of being watched continued, when my husband was offered a larger pool towel, as, and I quote, he was a 'big man'. From Sheila's responses to other more positive reviews, it is obvious that she does indeed, keep a close eye on her guests' activities. I recognise quite a few from their remarks and the stories she told us. It became a bit of a joke, every time the curtain blew in the wind, that she was behind them! This was not making for a very relaxing time, but not the end of the world.

However, we were staying in Oliva to visit my in-laws; mother-in-law, at 74, came and spent an afternoon by the pool with us, reading and having a dip(she had brought her own towel as instructed)...we watched some Olympics and had a glass of wine. Father in law was called to work, so we couldn't get her home, and I saw no harm in her sleeping on the sofa bed. The following morning, Sheila and Eric knocked smartly on the door and started to rant at me "Is your mother in there? It was bad enough that she' used the pool..insurance..it would have been alright if you'd asked..you should not have had a drink if you needed to drive...she's not staying for 2 more days...the first thing the police would want to see was insurance"...I couldn't get a word in and ended up apologizing. Mother heard every word and was embarrassed that 'she'd got me into trouble.' We packed up, only staying 4 of the 6 nights. We moved in with Mum and Dad and spent a lovely, relaxing, midge-free few days, using the beautiful, full-sized pool at the marina, next to the beach with sun-terrace and restaurant, where our parents are private members-10 minutes from their house. Never been spoken to like that by anyone, let alone someone I was paying - still shaken.

Owner's Response: Oh dear Oh dear what a totally sad person........ Ellisa that you found it necessary to write a bad Review. Your Review is not so much about the Review more of a personal attack on Eric and I, you were caught out having your family here for more than one day and sleeping without our permission! Were you thinking that our future guests would be gullible enough to take on board your vitriolic attack. FIRSTLY-you booked the Apartment as a couple for yourself and your husband Paul. On arriving you telephoned us to say you were in Oliva and could you bring the "in laws" up for a dip in the pool. I said yes could they bring their own towels, then you all arrived. We provide all the towels necessary for our GUESTS quality hand, shower, pool and for the beach even. We do know that some Owners DO NOT provide any towels. As for Paul being a big man, you could not but notice him as we all shook hands on arrival. So I asked you if he would like a larger SHOWER towel than a bath towel, the pool towels are large anyway so they are fine. SECONDLY-we only thought we were inviting Pauls parents for the first day of your holiday as you settled in here. We did not expect them to be sitting around the pool when we arrived back home from our frequent trips out. Actually we didn't mind at that stage, would have been nice to have asked though. Not SNEAKING them in when we were out. When we realized Pauls mother had slept the night yes I think I was surprised as there is only ONE King Size bed. I asked why and you said Paul had a few drinks therefore could not drive her home!!! 74 years of age and nervous on her own as her husband had been called to work unexpectedly. STRANGE as he had already had a conversation with Eric saying he was working away this week, and that he worked most weeks - you are making Mary out to be some frail old lady of 74 when in reality she is a lovely smart articulate woman, her age belies her. Then I asked how you all slept. mum was on the sofa and it will be for a few more nights!!! I then told her my Valencian Authorities Licence is only for two persons as is the Liability Insurance Health and safety also comes into this. You then seemed to smirk at me. THIRDLY-we do feel that 9am is a good start when people are chilling out on holiday. Eric hoses all the tiles around the pool, then cleans the pool. As for watching our guests wow that is below the belt sour grapes from you. 14 FiIVE STAR reviews.

A Nest with a View

  • 5 of 5

What you see is much less than what you get in terms of quality and location for this rental. The view on the bay surrounding Denia is fantastic. So you need a car and have to be OK with driving on climbing roads. We personally find that fun. We recommend the Kiko beach in Oliva. Absolutely nice, not crowdy, with protected dunes and free parking next to the beach. White sands, crystal clear water, no algae or gelly fish. Ideal for kite surfers.

The apartment is in a calm sector, very clean and very well maintained. The kitchen is well equipped and the apartment is well furnished. Very comfortable bed. Air conditioning is provided but in June we did not needed it thanks to the mosquito screen in the main door that you can safely leave open. The access to a BBQ that works well is rare The small private patio for the breakfast or meals is perfect. Having access to a wonderful pool always perfectly controlled with long chairs, beach towels changed every day is certainly not the standard for rental apartments.

The big plus of this rental is the attention you get from the owners who also leave there. Sheila and Eric really have a sense of what people want. They are quiet and very friendly while respect your privacy. They can give you good tips for sightseeing and restaurants. In fact we went three times to the Olivera restaurant nearby, a reference provided by Sheila and Eric. Plus they have such a nice accent ! We wish to go back next year !

Owner's Response: Aww thank you so much for such a stunning review from our Canadian guests. We try and make our guests feel as comfortable and as happy as we can whilst staying at our Apartment, we obviously made an impression with both of you lovely people. As you mention, everything is so clean we feel the fresh towels, pool and beach, are also a must for our guests. This peaceful location is ideal for just relaxing by the pool, or even strolling along the quiet roads on the mountain. As you both know the beautiful area in and around Valencia is just stunning. Plenty of places to see and some just a short drive away. Just a few minutes down the mountain is the small town of Oliva plenty of supermarkets, restaurants then onto to the beach, with beach bars, various water activities, to participate in, or just enjoy watching. We are just so pleased that you found us, we enjoyed hearing about your lovely country. We really do hope to see you next year. Best Wishes Sheila and Eric
