Also, if you seek combined accommodation, a reduced rate will be applied. The Gite, Chambre d'hote and Bed & Breakfast are in the tiny hamlet of Les Loges Saulces, in the Suisse Normande and between the historic town of Falaise and the pretty riverside town of Pont D’Ouilly. The Gite and Chambre d'Hote are located off the main courtyard, with Bed & Breakfast facilitated within the main house of this 17th Century Manoir. Les Loges Saulces is 9 kilometres from the beautiful Medieval historic town of Falaise, which was the birthplace of William the Conqueror, and his fortress dominates the town to this day. To the west of Les Loges Saulces, the town of Pont D’Ouilly is easily accessible via quiet scenic lanes. This small town offers significant river activities, a riverside restaurant and bars on the River Orne. Pont D’Ouilly is known as the heart of the Suisse Normande.
Your host is a published and reputed military historian, who can provide private and group tours of the Normandie battlefields, including all the Invasion beaches, Pegasus Bridge, Pointe du Hoc and Ste. Dutch Citizens Very Welcome:

Wonderful quiet manoir in a secluded village in the Suisse Normande area of Normandy. Ideal for families or even couples seeking a base to explore the region enjoying pampered solitude. British owned (speak English and French). Onsite table tennis, boule, badminton and plenty of gardens with privacy for personal down-time! There are nearby routes for biking and walking, as well as an excellent stables for horseback trailing. All delicious home cooked meals are based on local produce -- as is the wonderful Calvados! Wines are from the near-by Loire Valley. The British former military owners provide guidebooks of the area and extensive selections of current brochures covering the many things to do in Normandy. The owner is a published author on history and doctrine and a respected private staff ride/tour guide to the battlefields, all the way from the beaches to the Rhine. The house itself is a historic gem...full of stories and a wonderful library. We were pampered from arrival and able to relax. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We can't say enough good things about our stay at La Chaperonne! Julie & Tim, the proprietors, were so very kind, considerate and hospitable. They made us feel at home and treated us as though we were family. In fact, we were having a small family reunion there and they made it very special for us.
Tim's guided tour of the Normandy WW2 sites was a real highlight and he did an excellent job. All in all, we had a glorious experience in every way and we highly recommend staying at La Chaperonne for beautiful memories!
We stayed here with our two teenage children in July 2015. The owners were very friendly and provided us with a lovely welcome pack, which was much appreciated after a very long and tiring drive (we were unlucky with our travelling plans and were caught up with the Channel Tunnel delays). The cottage is very charming, with lots of character and history and surrounded with beautiful gardens, located in a very quiet village – lovely for us but a challenge with two teenagers, though they were pacified with a decent wifi connection (better upstairs than down). Nearby Falaise is a lovely town with lots of nice places on offer to eat and drink. It was a great cottage to use as a base and we saw lots of interesting things including the fantastic and very moving Memorial de Caen, Pegasus Beach and even spent a lovely day at the beautiful Mont Saint Michel (this is just over an hours drive away).
The only slight downside with the accommodation for us, is that you have to drive everywhere, there were no shops, bars or restaurants within walking distance, however this is pointed out in the information.
We were looking for somewhere that was close to but out in the Normandy countryside. Well we found just the place it was perfect the owners were great people and as well as great owners they went out of their to accommodate us in every way every thing you want is there all bed linen towels and a welcome pack which was great. The cottage sleeps six and it was not a problem for us as we were only four but the bedroom upstairs sleeps four one double bed and two singles and down in the lounge there is a LARGE settee double bed very comfortable. We went to Les Loges Saulces because we wanted to take in the D Day celebrations and the owner's knew a lot about the area and about the history of the 1940 wars Julies husband was a historian and very knowledgeable in the field of the second world war which was very helpful because he knew where we could go and find what we wanted so we mixed the d Day stuff with our sight seeing and market excursions. The French markets are great lots to see and do. I could go on forever but I won't bore you anymore The owners are fabulous hosts and the cottage was clean and very central to everything we did. We may book again next year we will have to see. Hope this helps you make you holiday plans.
We loved this place. We were able to spend only two days in Normandy, and wished we could have stayed more. Julie and Tim were gracious hosts, and fed us well. If we make it back to France, this is a place we would love to revisit, but spend more time there.
We wanted to spend some time looking at the Normandy battlefields as well as looking at the Suisse Normande countryside, and Les Loges was perfectly placed to see both without having to travel too far. Les Loges is an impressive house steeped with history and fascinating stories in a tranquil village that was fought over after the Normandy landings. Our hosts welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home straight away, and we were shown a delightful annex for our use. They couldn't have done more to look after us and they show in-depth knowledge and love of the surrounding countryside. Tim is a lecturer of international renown on the Normandy landings, and has even written a book on the subject. He has a fund of fascinating stories, and was so helpful filling in the gaps in our knowledge when we came back to Les Loges in the evening. I can't recommend Les Loges too highly.
