About Georgina McNaught

We are renting my grandfather's old cottage on Skye where we have enjoyed family holidays for many years.

Georgina McNaught purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Georgina McNaught chose Scottish Highlands & Islands

Skye is beautiful and peaceful. This cottage used to belong to my grandfather and we came here for many many wonderful holidays.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is a perfect base for exploring Skye. It's peaceful and backs onto the hillside, but it's only ten minutes from Portree, where there are shops, restaurants and a lovely harbour.

We have recently put in a new kitchen with new appliances, utility room with washer and drier, there is a powerful shower, and also a log burning stove for cosy evenings in by the fire. There is a separate dining room for family meals and planning the next day's adventures with the help of our maps and guide books. Newly installed central heating system 2014.

There is a lovely mature enclosed garden, half an acre, perfect for relaxing in and taking in the views and for kids to play.

Whether you like walking, mountaineering or just relaxing in peace, Skye is a wonderful place to take a break.

Great house, beautiful area

  • 5 of 5

Lovely spacious and clean house, great location-just want we wanted, which was to be close enough to a main town to get to shops easily, but still in a quiet and relatively secluded area. Kitchen is well equipped, and wine on the table on arrival was a nice touch. We didn't have the best weather but enjoyed evenings in playing some of the good selection of board games and drying our boots out by the fire!

Would definitely recommend this house if visiting Skye.

Beautiful well maintained property

  • 4 of 5

Loved the property- well maintained, clean and fully equipped kitchen - the whole house was really clean - board games, books and DVDs available for nights in. The garden was also very well maintained. The only thing that we were put off by were the bed linen which did not smell clean however washer dryer and detergent was available so was quickly remedied. Otherwise amazing stay would definitely recommend.

Owner's Response: Thank you for all your positive comments. Please rest assured the sheets are always clean. Our housekeeper works hard and the sheets are also ironed. She does a fantastic job and we have never had any another issues.

A cute restful spot with nice homey touches!

  • 5 of 5

We managed to book with Georgina very last minute even though we struggled with the site. She was so helpful in her communications all day and when we finally arrived at the cottage, it was a welcome sight. We loved the location being just outside of Portree but still a convenient distance and the heating was already turned on for us. The old whitwashed stone walls are at their best with rather recent renovations and a relaxing living room is completed with a wonderful fireplace and enough wood for one fire (stock up at the shops if you are staying for longer). I cannot sing my praises loud enough for this cute little place, we cannot wait to go back!

Great trip!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed with wife and two boys for 4 nights. Clean place, comfortable beds, plenty of hot water for shower. Location is fantastic for touring the island. We hiked at the Storr, Quiraing, Cuillins / Glenn Brittle, Neist point. Everything was easy to get to (with a rental car). Co-op in Portree is less than 10 minutes away. And Georgina is super helpful and responsive to any questions. Would definitely stay here again.

Home from home

  • 5 of 5

Our second time at the cottage and we have had just as good a holiday as last year. The cottage has everything we need to keep us as comfortable as we would be at home. After a day out walking or sight seeing coming home to a warm cosy cottage was a perfect end to the day. Skye is so beautiful in October and we had fabulous weather for most of the week! We can't wait to return again next year.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

What a gem of a cottage, we arrived in the middle of a storm to a wonderful warm cosy cottage just had to light the log burner and open the bottle wine which had kindly been left for us - what more could we ask for. Everything was spotless the only thing I would say was I wish we had booked for a week instead of a long week-end, we will return to this exceptional cottage on the wonderful Isle of Skye.
