House in Porth, Newquay, Cornwall, England

Beach Haven is a newly finished modern contempoary house situated down a private road and is very close to Porth beach. It is in the perfect location for those who want to explore all of cornwall as well as taking advantage of the first class surfing beaches close by. The cornish coastal path runs quite close to the property and the famous beaches of Watergate Bay, Lusty Glaze and Fistral and all the amenities they provide are easily within reach. The lovely port of Padstow is a short drive up the coast and is famous for its harbour and Rick Stein's seafood restraunts. It can also be reached by bus, which passes the close by and will take you on a more scenic route via other villages and beaches. Watergate Bay has numerous activities and National/International competions through out the year and is the home of Jamie oliver's famous "15" restraunt. The world famous Eden project is well worth a visit as is Port Isaac ( Doc Martin). This all makes Beach Haven the ideal holiday choice whatever your interests.

About Stephen Follett

I moved to Porth, Cornwall 12 years ago with my wife. We have both worked in this wonderful county until our recent retirement. We have always dreamed of building our own house and when this site, overlooking the beach came along we decided we would build our future home.

Why Stephen Follett chose Porth

The house was completed in 2014. It is in a fabulous location in a private road overlooking a quiet beach between the popular resorts of Newquay and Watergate Bay. The area has 2 pubs serving good food, a bowling alley and in the summer some seasonal shops. Porth is very good for families with the beach being a great place for body boarding and swimming. The beach is suitable for small children and is never overcrowded. It is patrolled by lifeguards. Either side are some spectacular beaches for more advanced surfing with wind surfing and other sports on offer. There are fabulous views on the gentle walk along the coastal path to Newquay or you can catch a bus which will also take you to Padstow.

What makes this house unique

The property was finished at the beginning of 2014 and has underfloor heathing, and a multi-fuel stove so is perfect all year round. The balcony and patios overlook the beach and we have provided beach towels. As the property was built for the owners, it provides a 'home from home'.

Notes on accommodation: This property is non-smoking and we are unable to accept any pets. Outside: There are 2 private patio areas and a balcony all overlooking the sea and valley Utility Room: There is a washing machine, tumble dryer, clothes airer and space to hang coats etc. Also there is an ironing board and iron. Wash powder is provided. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and a towels are supplied including a set for beach use. These will be changed weekly. Other: This is an environmental house, with high insulation underfloor heating and a recycled rainwater system. There is an airing cupboard which has extra towels and pillows if required. There are a selection of books and games available.

What can we say, amazing home with oodles of space. Tastefully designed and decorated, lovely owners and situated in ideal location. This home has lots of extra touches and goes beyond expectations.

The Name Of The House Sums It All UP!!!!

It's a perfect place and Steve makes every effort to make your stay just that, Perfect! The location is lovely and the house has everything you could ask for!

Very clean and all attention to detail is taken to it. Listening to the ocean at night be it on the balcony or in your bed is the haven for sure! The kitchen is for one who really loves to cook, not that you want to do too much of that on your holiday, especially in this part of the world. Lot's of great pubs and restaurants and celeb chefs. ! We have stayed before and we will be back again! Thank you Steve!!

As good as it gets?

Having been privileged to be the first visitors following it's completion and again recently I am amazed that only one visitor has posted a review, maybe everyone wants to keep this one quiet!! The house is fabulous and the location couldn't be better if you are looking for a beach holiday but equally well situated if you want to explore Cornwall. The owners have thought of just about everything and it is a joy to stay here. Equally as comfortable in Winter as it is in the warmer months.

Highly recommended but please don't book it when we want it :)

Great house & location

We first met the owners when the house was being built last year so we were pleased to book and stay in the completed house this summer. The house has a lovely view of the beach, plenty of living space and was very well equipped. The wet room downstairs was great for when we came off the beach with the kids. We've even booked again for next year.

The property is within 100yards of the beach and it is ideal for families. Many other beaches are with easy walking distances.


Newquay airport is 4 miles away on a bus route.

There is a railway station in Newquay approximately 1 1/2 miles away with links to Plymouth, Exeter St Davids and London.

Buses run along the coast road with other links from Newquay


There are seasonal shops, pubs and hotels in Porth, a market, banks and convenience stores 1/2 a mile. The main town of Newquay approximately 1 1/2 miles away provides a variety of surfing, cinema, clothes shops and places to eat. It also has child friendly attractions such as the aquarium, and a scenic land train which travels past the boating lakes and other seaside attractions.

Further Details:

Watergate bay and the activity beach at Lusty Glaze are nearby and access to the coastal path is only 200 metres away. Quality restaurants abound with Jamie oliver's '15' at Watergate Bay and Rick Steins 'Seafood Restaurant' at Padstow. Great days out are to be had at Padstow, The Eden Project at St. Austell and the Bedruthan Steps plus attractions for children in and around Newquay.

Booking Notes:
A non-refundable 10% secures the booking. The balance is due 8 weeks before the start of the holiday plus £75 breakages deposit. If booked less than 8 weeks before the holiday, full cost & breakages deposit is due at time of booking. The £75 will be refunded as soon as the property has been inspected if no damage/breakages have occurred. Payment by personal cheque.

Changeover Day:
Saturday arrival after 3pm. Departure before 10am on the Saturday.
