About Carolyn Butt

We live 10 minutes from Grassington as we have done for 40 years. We know the village and area intimately and are happy to assist with local information - ring us 01756730391 / 07720294391

Why Carolyn Butt chose Yorkshire Dales

Really lovely Barn conversion 120 yards from Main St but in very quiet area. Off road parking for 2 cars + lovely south facing which with the drive is enclosed by walls and hedges on 3 sides. Overlooks the meadow.

Extensively refurbished in 2016.

What makes this cottage unique

Aga style cooker keeps the place cosy + full gas central heating.

Comfortable cosy cottage

  • 4 of 5

This is the third time we have stayed in Sunnyside cottage and seen improvements made year on year.

We are a family of four adults and have plenty of room for all of us and our dog.

Our friends live in Grassington and the location just in the edge of town on a quiet back road is ideal.

The owners ar lovely and only live a few minutes away should you ever need their help.

Booking confirmation communication is excellent as well.

It's a lovely cosy cottage that suits all our needs and we will be back again next year!

In need of some TLC

  • 3 of 5

We loved our week in Grassington but were disappointed with Sunnyside Cottage and would agree with the previous reviewer's comments regarding storage, the bathroom radiator and the severe lack of cooking equipment and, although the sitting room furniture has been replaced as is very comfortable, the dining area carpet was grubby and stained and the kitchen cupboards and fan were very greasy. The first night we were there the cooker was not working but the owner very kindly came out and dealt with it and I believe this is going to be replaced!

However, my main bone of contention is that the details state that the property is enclosed but this is misleading. Yes, there are three good walls but the wide drive is completely open on to a busy back route and, if you are thinking of taking children and/or dogs, you will always need to keep an eye on them as they could be on the road in a flash.

Owner's Response: Can I just reply to the anonymous review above. The bathroom radiator has been in situ for perhaps eight or nine years and these are the first comments we have received - hardly going to spoil your holiday! We have never had any comment on cooking equipment. There are drawers full of it. On the day in question the annual gas checks had been carried out in the morning and the engineer had failed to press the reset button. On receiving the telephone call on Saturday night I attended within half an hour and pressed said button, which is referred to in the instructions, and hey presto all was well. I had what I thought was a pleasant chat with the guests when I did tell them that the kitchen inc carpets is to be refurbished at the end of the season and the new cooker is waiting for a gap in bookings to go in. Well yes the drive is doubtless open but it opens onto one of Grassingtons quiet little lanes , hardly a major hazard. The garden is walled on 3 sides. Guess you can't please all the people all the time. By the way the date of the Visit England inspection was 3rd Aug 2016 when the 4 star rating was confirmed.

Comfortable, clean, homely property

  • 3 of 5

The property was clean, tidy and comfortable. However there was a confusion about arrival time, website stated 1.00pm, was then sent an email stating 2.00pm and when we arrived we were told arrival time was 3.00pm, owner did apologise but we think this needs to be sorted. The cottage has plenty of crockery for six people but not enough cooking equipment and oven very temperamental. There is not enough storage space for clothing, in fact one of the bedrooms has no storage at all. Towel radiator in the bathroom is too close to the toilet and although only the bottom two bars heat up they caused a few minor burns when using the toilet. Cottage is in a beautiful location with plenty to do on the doorstep and we had a very enjoyable time there.
