Boscastle: Picturesque Cornish Cottage

Overview

Property

Updated: 26-Nov-2016
Cottage in Boscastle, Cornwall, England - Village Location, 10 Minutes Walk To The Harbour

The cottage has retained many of its original features with beamed ceilings and deep window seats. It has a modern fitted kitchen and is furnished in sympathy with the age of the property - including some antique furniture. Storage heaters are in the main rooms and the lounge has a new multi fuel stove for extra comfort. The cottage is ideally situated for those who love walking and bird-watching as the rugged coastal footpath and the beautiful wooded Valency Valley are within easy reach.

About the Owner

I live in Boscastle just a couple of miles from my holiday property so I am ideally placed to take care of it. I live in a very small house so the cottage is used by my family and friends as well as visitors.

Once again a lovely relaxing holiday. The weather has been kind, so lots of walking done. Rosebank cottage was lovely and clean and cosy as always.

A very comfy and cosy cottage - can't fault it in any way. Lovely week, thanks very much.

We have had a lovely holiday - the cottage is beautiful and we have had a great time exploring the area. Thank you!

Cosy and Restful

  • 5 of 5

A cosy, comfortable, traditional cottage with a lovely relaxing feel. Situated in a wonderfully quiet area of Boscastle, but still not far to walk to the local shops, pubs and harbour. Jenny is a great host.

We loved the Sails Cafe in Boscastle (great gluten-free food) and the Old Manor House for an evening meal. Didn't get chance to try the nearby Napolean.

We enjoyed great coastal walks - caught the bus from Boscastle to Tintagel and walked back. And spent a couple of great days (at low tide only) on the beautiful Trebarwith Strand.

If traditional charm, close to village facilities, is what you are after, then we definitely would recommend a stay at Rose Bank. Thank you Jenny.

cosy and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

lovely cosy cottage with loads of Cornish charm perfectly situated on the hill with views from the peaceful garden. The four of us myself ,partner and 2 children enjoyed our days our around Cornwall returning to our little home for the week with its cosy lounge and well equipped kitchen. A lovely walk down to Boscastle harbour and stagger up hill back but beautiful we didn't get to try the local pub at the end of the road as we were out and about we either ate in or had lunch out .we thoroughly enjoyed driving over the moors seeing the sheep and ponies and stopped once or twice well lets be honest it was three times at the jamaica inn. The owner Jenny was a delight to have contact with extremely helpful , we would love to visit again sometime and would definitely recommend a stay here.

Wonderful cottage

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful period cottage in a delightful setting. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Jenny, the owner, was very helpful and dealt with our queries promptly. Boscastle has many very good pubs to eat in but The Napoleon is, in our opinion, the best. Lovely atmosphere and food and just a two minute walk from the cottage. The walk down to the harbour is easy, but the walk back up is a bit more challenging! Lovely coastal walks from the cottage and Padstow, Bude etc. an easy drive away. We loved it so much we are hoping to go again soon and our son is going in a couple of weeks!

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

Rose Bank cottage is situated in a quiet road at the top end of the village of Boscastle. It is a 4 min walk to an excellent pub and an ideal place to use as a base to explore Cornwall. A cosy downstairs main room has a wood burning stove and Wifi ( should you wish to remain in touch with the outside world). The well equipped kitchen and dining area also makes it ideal to hole up in bad weather. Well maintained, clean and always welcoming, we have been returning to this cottage for over 8 years. It works as a launch pad for adventure or the perfect bolt hole.

Tintagel is a walk along the cliff path in one direction, Cracking Haven a more adventurous walk in the other directions. Would recommend to walkers, explorers and those content to curl up in front of the fire.

Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Rosebank Cottage in Boscastle for 2 weeks. Upon arrival the cottage was clean, tidy and peaceful. The kitchen was well equipped with a few little extras thrown in. Bathroom and lounge spotless. The bedrooms were large and airy, the twin room especially was sunny, spacious and overlooked the garden, my 10 year old daughter loved this room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and felt right 'at home'. We have holidayed in Boscastle for many years and I don't know how we missed this little gem, it won't be overlooked again. Thank you for letting us stay at your delightful cottage. We shall return.

Owner's Response: I am so pleased to hear that Rosebank was all that was needed for a good holiday. We work very hard to make everything as clean and bright as we can - but of course we don't always have any comeback to confirm that we have succeeded. Thank you so much for your lovely comments and we look forward to welcoming you back.

Location

From the Owner

I have owned my cottage for nearly 20 years. I fell in love with it the moment that I saw it - even though it had ivy growing on the walls in the lounge! It has a very restful feel to it and this has been commented on by several visitors over the years. My family love to visit and my grandchildren are especially fond of the house. My first granddaughter christened the cottage 'the house with the bumpy walls' and that is what it is still!

Facilities

From the Owner

The house is ideally situated for exploring the area. A few hundred yards walk and you are on the ancient stitches and the nearby coastal footpath. Visitors in the winter can enjoy sitting by the fire and reading a book and the local pub is just a few minutes walk away! If you feel more energetic, then there is surfing nearby. The rugged North Cornish coast is spectacular and for those who want to explore the area there are many walks - perhaps to look at the beautiful and ancient churches that we have. Whatever you want from a holiday, you should find it in the cottage and surrounding area.
