About sean sainsbury

My name is Sean and I fell in love with Menorca many years ago. This passion for the island inspired me to buy my dream home in the nature parc and I plan to live there in the future. At present I live and work in Asia and so I am opening my home for others to enjoy and hope they hear the same amazing experiences I have when I am in Menorca.

sean sainsbury purchased this villa in 2013

Why sean sainsbury chose Mahon

When I first came to the Island in 2007 it was love at first sight. I fell in love with the tranquility, the spotless beaches, both hidden and public. The chance to walk on trails and see very few people whilst enjoying the sea views and country alike. Knowing I could be very happy here I didn't hesitate to buy this villa when I saw what it had to offer. Close to the charming village of Es Grau with its friendly bars and restaurants or a little further to Mahon with its plethora of shops and restaurants, Harbour and old cobbled streets.

What makes this villa unique

The peacefulness of the Parc is unbelievable sometimes. You can just sit and gaze for hours at the birds flying overhead with the sound of crickets the accompanying sound. There is no thru traffic with only a few neighbours passing infrequently, You don't have to worry about being overlooked as you sit in your swimwear!

Spacious Villa in Superb Surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week here, serenaded by nightingales as we ate on the terrace! The villa was spacious, very well equipped and in an idyllic position. Very peaceful area, with pleasant walks on the doorstep. We all enjoyed the pool - which was cleaned twice weekly. Beaches are within easy reach and the supermarkets in Mao about 10 minutes drive. Communication with Sean beforehand always received a quick response and the information and directions received were excellent. We were delighted to be offered the opportunity to check out in mid afternoon as we had an early evening flight. We had a problem with the wi-fi - but this was quickly sorted. We highly recommend this villa - and would certainly stay there again! Thank you

Utter tranquility

  • 4 of 5

Stayed for one week and returned home totally relaxed refreshed. The villa is in a quiet rural setting on a secluded lane near the lake. One neighbour in the distance and the closer one hidden behind trees and we certainly appreciated the privacy and isolation.

The villa itself is impressively well equipped with all appliances you need and plenty of kitchen wear and tools. Couldn't figure out the TV reception but plenty of DVDS and we couldn't get any wifi but be honest it was a joy to not rely on technology, instead we enjoyed the surroundings, the pool, stars, chess and each other's company!

Pool was cleaned twice and we used it all the time, good size, perfect temperature and much appreciated by my 8 year old son!

We live in Cornwall so we are spoilt at home with beaches, but we loved Fornells, Es Castell and binibequer down on the south coast. Very easy to drive on the island most roads are a pleasure to navigate.

Didn't need to contact anyone for assistance but it was clear from the superb communication from Sean the owner that help was only a call away.

Sean also arranged to accommodate a later check out for us which gave us longer to enjoy the pool on our departure day, thank you for that!

Excellent information sent before we left home and our deposit was returned promptly.

Would highly recommend this villa, been home a week and wish we were still there drinking G&Ts by the pool!

magnifique endroit

  • 5 of 5

Simply Fabulous....

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to the island and what a wonderful villa and setting to introduce us! Just what we all were looking for. Prior to the visit we had great communication from Sean regarding directions, places of interest etc and Sean was really quick at replying to any questions we had. A car is a must, but you really do want to drive around this stunning island to appreciate all of its beauty. The location is perfect and we visited Es Grau & Mahon many times to eat as they are so local. It was always a pleasure to return to the nature reserve away from everything, and marvel at the Milky Way and stunning starry skies free from light pollution. The views from the villa are spectacular and you are able to watch all the wildlife whilst floating on your lilo in the pool. We made friends with the geckos and tree frogs that lived around the villa and were able to go on many walks around the nature reserve.

The villa was very spacious and decorated beautifully - we loved the high ceilings in the lounge area and the lovely photographs from old Menorca. There were 6 of us in total and we were all able to find our own resting spot and space if needed. The pool was a great size and thoroughly enjoyed! On arrival we received a lovely welcome food pack and a bottle of wine which was much appreciated. Sarah, who looks after the villa and guests and lives on site, is lovely and is on hand if you need anything at all.

We absolutely adored this villa - the location is superb. It's a fabulous base to explore the gorgeous turquoise waters of Cala Galdana etc and equally to visit Fornells & Cuitadella. We went on a boat trip from Cala Galdana which was stunning and showed you all the wonderful little coves and hidden beaches from the water and we were able to snorkel too. We also visited Cala'n Porter and followed the signs to Cova d'en Xoroi - it's an absolutely stunning bar/nightclub that's open all day( kids welcome). You pay 8 euros to enter but that includes a drink of your choice, it is the coolest bar that is constructed within the caves and overlooks the ocean The views are spectacular and you really should go and relax and take it all in whilst sipping on a glass of rose! Subsequent drinks are not that expensive either! A favourite restaurant of ours was Sa Granja tapes in Mahon which served stunning tapas dishes and beautiful lamb pittas. Thanks Sean for a wonderful holiday in your villa - we definitely will be back! Can't wait!

Fantastic holiday home in a very beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Me, my husband and our 2 children of 4 and 7 years old have stayed at this beautiful villa in Menorca for 10 days. It was the first time we went to Menorca but it was certainly worth the trip. We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful island.

The house itself is not new but very well-kept and clean, and full of charm. The private pool was much larger than we expected and the children really loved it (as did we). The villa is set in a very quiet and beautiful environment, near the lake of 's Albufera des Grau Natural Park. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The Wi-Fi connection is very decent.

We did not meet the owner, Sean, who lives nearby, which seems a bit awkward, but then again there was no real need to meet each other since he was always available by e-mail. We also got the telephone number of Sarah who could help us out in case we needed something, but we didn't. When we arrived the owner had provided some food, wine and water, which made us feel at home immediately. He was also very correct in paying back the deposite amount. In short, we would certainly recommend this property and its owner to other families interested in going to Menorca.

Some practical advice: you need a rental car when staying here, but prices are reasonable and you need a car to see something of Menorca anyway. Be careful not to leave food (cornflakes, chips, ...) open in the kitchen because small ants - who seem to come from nowhere but with thousands and in a very short time - will find it and feast on it.

Sean, thank you very much for the fantastic time we had in Menorca!!

Owner's Response: We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We are not in Menorca when the property is being rented, so no need to feel awkward!

Lovely large villa set in beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Villa was spotlessly clean and well equipped. We had wine, bread, milk and other essentials on the fridge on arrival. We travelled with an infant and here was a cot made up with linen and high chair in the villa at our request. Pool was clean and warm, a pool man visited twice a week to clean it. We had a tortoise and woodpecker visit us most mornings. There are lovely walks in the surrounding area with fantastic views, a car is a must to see the island but driving is safe with hardly any traffic on the roads. Mahon is only a ten minute drive away with a lovely harbour area littered with restaurants and plenty of boats to admire. We seen most of the island and the beaches are clean, sandy and the water is warm. We would highly recommend this property, the owner was a pleasure to deal with, quick to respond to enquirers and provided us with plenty of information regarding car hire etc before we travelled. Out deposit was refunded the day after we returned. Overall, highly recommended.
