Everything we wanted; owners helpful.

The owner generously upgraded us to a larger property for free, so we got a real bargain. Everything was comfortable, well-equiped and clean. Nice that all visitors have access to the garden. The owners, who live in the main house on site, seemed keen to hear about and put right any problems that might arise (there weren't any). The nearest convenience store is a 500 m walk away and Ventnor is a short drive away. Good walks possible from the house. All very quiet at this time of year (October).

Lovely and peaceful settings. Great garden and views.

We rented the Cottage for the last week of August. The whole experience was a delight, the hosts were welcoming and very heloful, the garden is lush and great for our daughter who enjoyed playing there. A lot of facilities available for a very good value. The cottage was very clean, lovely and very quiet. The location is perfect as close to Ventnor and beach, shops... We would love to return next time we visit the Island.

Comfortable and well-located base

My partner and I booked Woodcliffe Cottage for a last minute break, not really knowing much about the Isle of Wight. As a couple seeking a quiet break offering easy access to great walks and vistas, this turned out to be a perfect place to stay. The cottage was clean, comfortable and quietly located. The veranda was not such a "private sun-trap" as hoped, but this was not a concern as having access to the main garden (and the view it affords) was just lovely! (NB: south-facing benefit, so during our June stay we could enjoy the outdoor sunshine until evening.)

We received a friendly welcome from the owner (Bryce) who also gave us some great tips on walks and nearby eateries.

In summary: We enjoyed our stay and would happily return!

Note: The cottage itself does not offer sea views (for these you need to stay in one of the apartments, or take a wander into the garden from time to time!)

It's a great property in large grounds with great sea views. The climate is sheltered by the Ventnor Undercliff and the location is really peaceful but within easy access of Ventnor and the rest of the Island.

Coast/Beach:

5 minutes walk to the quiet Woody Bay.

15 minutes to the lovely Steephill Cove.

Travel:

30 minutes drive from each Island port.

15 minutes from Shanklin Railway Station.

5 minutes from a bus stop (although infrequent rural service and car is an advantage).

Distances:

In St Lawrence, 5 minutes walk from the general store/post office.

20 minutes walk from Ventnor centre.

Further Details:

Golf, fishing, cycling and horse riding can be arranged.

The Island is packed with activities and nothing is far on the Isle of Wight.
