Fantastic location, beautiful surrounding and great property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for our honeymoon and what can we say... Warm welcome, hamper already in the kitchen and eggs from their hens. Beautifully presented inside. We settled right in and got a roaring fire started straight away with the supplies provided. There is also a pack of local brochures so if your not sure what to do there are some ideas to get you started. Great location and easy travel to Edinburgh where we spent a lot of time. We are already thinking about it again for our anniversary.

Beautiful cottage in a fabulous location.

  • 5 of 5

Arrived on the 17th September with simple instructions provided by the owners, to enable us to find the property. We received a lovely welcome pack and the property was just as described on the website. It was lovely and clean and the facilities were outstanding. The owners were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely recommend this property to family and friends.

Fantastic home base for first visit to Scotland

  • 5 of 5

My 22 year old son and I had the pleasure of booking this property for our first ever visit to Scotland for 7 nights from August 20th until August 27th 2016. The Ampherlaw Farmhouse is a beautiful property with stunning vistas and even better hospitality. Cass and Charlie went out of their way to make sure we felt like we were at home even though we actually stayed over on only four of the seven nights that we had booked. The other 3 nights we stayed on the Isle of Skye and Bute.

As a home base, the central location between Glasgow and Edinburgh allowed us to hit the ground running with visits to Rosslyn Chapel and Edinburgh from our early morning arrival in Glasgow. The welcome basket of local goods and produce, including farm fresh eggs and bread/fruit/coffee, spoiled us and gave us a great first impression of Scottish hospitality that only grew over the 8 days we were in Scotland. Not only were we close to the two cities mentioned, we also were able to golf at Royal Troon and use the ferries at Wemyss Bay to visit the Isle of Bute. If you want a vacation that is peaceful, serene and in the middle of the Scottish countryside this is your place. If there was a 10 star rating, this property would deserve it for sure.

Charlie provided us with his hard copy of Scottish road maps which got us out of a few jams when the GPS we had wasn't up to date with the backroads of Scotland. Getting lost and then finding our way back to Ampherlaw allowed us to see things and meet people that we couldn't have otherwise experienced had we stayed in one of the larger cities.

We saw at least 10,000 sheep/cattle/goats/pigs in our many tours to and from this cottage.

Next time we will try to book a longer stay.

We could feel the pride that the Delaney family have in their piece of country paradise and we felt proud that were able to stay at their converted barn property and look forward to staying with them again in the future.

We would highly recommend this property for both value for money and the memories that my son and I will have forever.

Can't wait to return. Cheers!

Fabulous cottage, beautiful and gorgeous view!

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully decorated cottage in a peaceful rural location with lovely views from bedroom window. Ideal base to explore surrounding countryside and Edinburgh/Glasgow. Thoughtful welcome pack and Cass was on hand with advice of good places to visit. Loved Jupiter artland. Highly recommend a visit! Will return I hope! (Just when it's cold enough to have to try out the log burner!)

Top Drawer!

  • 5 of 5

This was the most perfect place to stay. It follows that if you fill a holiday property with the best of everything, then the guests will feel welcome and appreciated and in turn, will respect the beautiful surroundings, both inside and out. Everything was what we expected and more. Cass and Charlie were friendly and unobtrusive. We were late arrivals after a very long journey from the south of England and yet there was a smile, fantastic welcoming pack with everything for breakfast, hot shower, big towels, sleigh bed and bathrobes with slippers. It's rural and quiet so you sleep well too. If we could give the cottage more than 5 stars we would - we were sorry to leave.

Location

From the Owner

Before buying Ampherlaw Farmhouse in 2004 we lived just three miles away. We often rode past the house and fell in love with its crow stepped gables and beautiful stonework. Although it was in desperate need of attention, we saw the beauty that lay beneath. We were very lucky to be riding past one day as the For Sale sign was being erected. The rest is history!! We spent the next six years restoring it to its former glory, and at the same time extended into two of the adjoining barns. It is these barns that form the annexe that we offer for either self catering holidays or bed and breakfast accommodation.
