Lovely cottage in Polgooth - well placed to explore Cornwall with safe,sandy beaches close by.

Brookside is a charming, South facing Cornish cottage that sits in a quiet country lane. The cottage is more than 150 years old and has been refurbished to a high standard, decorated in a simple,modern style yet retaining its period charm.

The cottage offers privacy when dining al-fresco on the patio plus spacious accommodation for six plus a cot with three bedrooms (two doubles, one twin) and a large family bathroom. The lounge-dining room has a huge original stone fireplace with an efficient wood-burning stove. Furnishings are modern yet invitingly comfy.

The cottage looks onto a peaceful,pretty lawned garden with rose bushes,edged by mature trees and shrubs with a natural granite slabbed patio area that faces south,enjoying direct sunlight all day long.Both front and rear gardens are private and fully enclosed by walls,fences and natural hedges. A wealth of mature plants and flowering shrubs (camellias, rhododendrons etc.) surround the property.There is ample parking at the front for several cars.

Just a short stroll along the lane is the village pub.The Polgooth Inn serves great local beers and food prepared using locally sourced produce.It`s a proper family-run place that welcomes children and animals and serves food all day both in the pub as well as the garden.There are more excellent pubs and restaurants within easy reach of Brookside, including Austells (3 mls.) and Kingswood (0.5 mls.)

There is a village shop/off-licence/post office, while larger supermarkets are within a mile or so.

Polgooth is perfect for exploring Cornwall due to its central location. The Pentewan valley which Polgooth borders is great for walking or cycling the dedicated trails leading to the coastal villages of Porthpean (fabulous safe family beach, sailing, watersports), Pentewan ( large beach plus watersports, gymnasium, restaurants), Mevagissey (ancient working fishing port, restaurants, shops) and Gorran Haven (sandy beaches,walks, great pub, coastal walks). Other local attractions include the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project and the beautiful harbour village of Charlestown with its wonderful pub, restaurants and shops.

St.Austell golf club is on the edge of the village and Carlyon Bay golf club is just 3 miles away.

There is a convenient rail link at St.Austell (2 mls.) which is on the main London-Penzance route.

We will guide you to coves and beaches which are not on the tourist trail. We have both been involved in Cornish based businesses for many years.

The coast and beach are just 2 miles by car away at Pentewan which is also within an easy level walk or cycle via designated cycle trails which start about a half mile from the cottage along a quiet country road. Pentewan offers water-sports, fishing trips, swimming, sailing and there is a gym and swimming pool as well as a pub, restaurants, garage and convenience store.

Outside: Patio area to the front of the property with large table and chairs plus barbecue. Lawns also to the front which are fairly level and lots of shrubs and plants. A smaller patio area to the rear of the cottage with table and chairs (great for early morning sunshine) plus rotary clothes line. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and good quality bed linen included. Property is cleaned weekly and bedlinen and towels are changed weekly Other: Lobby area with small table and 2 chairs leading to back garden with patio area with table and chairs, rotary clothes line.

Second visit and just as amazing as the first

I seriously cannot find the words to describe how amazing this cottage is.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hopefully we will be back next year.

A visit or two to the local pub Polgooth Inn is in order.

Fantastic cottage in a great location, good access to all of Cornwall

Brookside is very well equipped and has a lovely cosy atmosphere. Jeanette and Geoff are very welcoming and gave suggestions for walks, beaches to visit and places to eat. The Polgooth Inn is just a short walk away and we throughly enjoyed our meal there.

A beautiful cottage in a quiet rural location.

A beautiful cottage, equipped with everything you could need a real home from home. It had a very cozy feel and beautiful garden. The beds were very comfortable. We have a toddler and it was perfectly equipped with stair gates and high chair. Great location, the village was very quiet so perfect for relaxing. Close to lovely beaches and St Austell. The weather was not very good, but that did not distract from a lovely week. The relax cosy feel of the cottage made up for it. The owners were very helpful and accommodating.

Wonderful

This is a wonderful cottage in an ideal setting

The cottage on entry is very clean and as if you are the first people there

We had no issues at all ,Jeanette and Geoff are wonderful hosts and are available for advice about local beaches and activities

The cottage is very well equipped and if you do not want to eat out you don't have to because it's so well equipped you can eat in

By reading the visitors book we could see that a lot of people return here because you know that you are staying in fabulous accommodation

If you book this property then a must is the polgooth inn across the road because it does great food beer and Gin

I would recommend this cottage I can not fault it in anyway at all

I would love to return here in the future

Wonderful week at Brookside in Polgooth

We had a great time in a very beautiful cottage and area. Our friends and ourselves took our dogs along with us and they were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. The owners Geoff & Jeanette could not have been any kinder or more helpful and they made our stay very enjoyable.

We would highly recommend a stay at this beautiful cottage.
