About Mrs Karen Furnass

Hello. My name is Karen and I own 2 Westwood Cottages. I started this cottage as a holiday cottage in March 2014. I also have another cottage in Killinghall Harrogate that sleeps 6. The rest of the time I am a beauty therapist working in my own salon in Easingwold - Karen Elizabeth Beauty. I am closely involved in the upkeep and cleaning of my cottages to ensure that everything remains to a high standard.

I look forward to welcoming you

Best wishes

Mrs Karen Furnass purchased this cottage in 2008

Why Mrs Karen Furnass chose West Yorkshire

I bought this cottage as I love Clifford the village. It is so accessible to everywhere; Leeds, Harrogate, Wetherby and York. It is a great location for Bramham Park for the horse trials, for the Leeds Festival, races at Wetherby, York and Doncaster, as well as being on hand for the many events held at Harewood House. Also not forgetting all of the fantastic events at the Great Yorkshire Showground in nearby Harrogate.

What makes this cottage unique

2 Westwood Cottages is a cosy cottage sleeping 4 in two double bedrooms. The village offers pubs for eating and a fish and chip shop. The nearby village of Boston Spa has an array of shops for everything you need including groceries, cafes, restaurants, hairdressers, cash ATMs and a petrol station.

There is an excellent bus service from this village to Leeds, Harrogate, Wetherby and to many more places. It's location, close to major Yorkshire attractions, as well as the motorway network makes it an ideal base for exploring all that the area has to offer.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

We spent a long weekend in Yorkshire. The cottage is comfortable, compact and convenient and it is brilliantly situated with loads to do in the immediate area. We will definitely come again!

Comfortable, clean cottage in Clifford

  • 4 of 5

This property is exactly the type of accommodation we prefer. Comfortable (for 2), quiet, clean, tastefully furnished and fully self contained, it provided us with the ideal base for the final 6 days of our 5 week trip through the UK. Located within easy reach of the York, Ripon and Harrogate areas, our only regret is not having more time available to us. With helpful neighbours who willingly provided help and advice, on site parking, and a lovely village feel, we have no hesitation in recommending this cottage. In comparison with other short term rentals in which we stayed, the fee was well within our budget.

Cosy character cottage

  • 5 of 5

Rented this lovely cottage in between house moves. From initial contact the owner made what could have been a very stressful time for us considerably easier. With her friendly manner nothing was too much trouble and communications were very easy with prompt responses..The Cottage was spotlessly clean and extremelhywell equipped with the addition of a washer, dishwasher and plenty of soft towels. A real plus was the off road parking place in the courtyard immediately outside the front door and an extremely helpful neighbour is on hand to deal with any questions relating to the cottage and area. Perfect;y situated to explore the many attractions of West and North Yorkshire and a variety of shops, eateries and take aways just a short drive to Boston Spa. Would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage.

Avoid this cottage!

  • 1 of 5

AVOID! Sub-standard property with a landlady who does not want to communicate, once you have paid the inflated prices for accommodation which is not fit for purpose! Cottage smells, mouldy shower curtain (see previous bad reviews) intermittent boiler no hot water, electric hob broken on two rings, broken toaster the list could go on! Worse than pitching a tent in the middle of a soggy wet field! Keep away!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to pass on your comments and Im extremely sad that you didn't enjoy your stay in my pretty little cottage. I stayed there at the weekend as I regularly do and had a lovely time. Clifford is a great village full of friendly people. There was constant hot water, the hobs all worked, the bathroom refurbishment is now complete with a new shower screen and decoration work has also been completed. Sometimes these larger jobs have to be carried out out of season. I was unaware of the toaster not working but that has now been replaced. I take a great pride in my properties and strive to fix any maintenance issues immediately so that my guests enjoy their stay.

Perfectly petite and fit for 4 plus dog!

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Clifford and this little cottage was ideal for what we needed. 2 couples and one medium size dog and we all throughly enjoyed our trip. Perfect base for Harewood house (CLA Game fair). Nice little touches throughout also which we really liked. Really reasonable price also and found a lovely Thai takeaway in the adjoining village of Boston Spa. Thank you alot

Too small for families!

  • 1 of 5

As soon as you walk in the front door you are hit with the smell of cheap air freshener trying to hide what smell? The cottage is just not suitable for a family with a toddler. The downstairs living area/ kitcken is so tiny you can cook your tea while still sat on the sofa! For a toddler the whole downstairs is one hazard. The utility room is actually a cupboard with a washer and dishwasher.

The shower curtain is black with mould and needed changing six months ago. The stairs are so steep and again no good for a toddler. This cottage needs to be advertised as couples only. We felt totally let down by the property. When we tried to cancel our 3 month booking after one night we were charged for a whole month, so family's beware.

Owner's Response: The tourist board have visited 2 Westwood Cottages and have given it a three star rating. The report detailed that the cottage is well maintained and the housekeeping is to a very high standard. The housekeeper lives next door and spends hour after hour looking after this property. The lady who wrote the comment viewed the property in advance of making her booking and paying for a three month period. The pictures are up to date pictures showing the sizes of the rooms. It is a pretty little cottage in a lovely friendly village.
