Farmhouse near San Climent, Menorca, Balearic Islands - Atmospheric Charming Family Casa Accessible To Roads, Beaches And Tow

Our delightful gated 5 bedroomed 250 year old pretty Menorquin little rustic Casa still retains its original charm whilst having been renovated and updated for modern living. Traditional Menorquin green shutters, enclosed on 3 sides by sympathetically part landscaped gardens, scented with lavender, citrus, fruit and fig trees, the house provides a relaxing way to enjoy the sunshine touched with a little history.The pretty front terrace invites you into the traditional Spanish hallway leading onto the very large kitchen diner which looks out onto the orchard with its lemon and lime trees and herb garden. The lounge looks over miles of open countryside where ne'er a person is seen, though sometimes the odd visiting sheep may peep in! The house is on the special Menorquin cycle route, and easily accessible to towns and beaches. It is a very short drive to the pretty little village of San Climent (or a leisurely walk through the country lanes) which has a couple of lovely restaurants and a cafe/bar where one can use the internet. The house has lots of atmosphere and is away from the touristy parts of Menorca. The pool is very large. Great for couples, children and families alike.

About Dez

We bought our beautiful house in 2000 as an escape from London and a potential retirement home and it has been a labour of love. We wanted somewhere that felt like home, that we could come to and feel safe and secure -with privacy, rustic charm and atmosphere, not too far from the airport and surrounded by true Spanish people and not tourists but within a few minutes of shops and a short drive to the beach. Once we found our dream location we set about updating and modernising the house but with a gentle respect for its age and history. We wanted a large pool and lots of places to sunbathe, places to park three cars and we have it! All our friends who have stayed over the years have loved it and now we are opening our doors to new guests who will hopefully love it as much as we do.

Why Dez chose Minorca (Menorca)

Not only do we have access to the typical Spanish beaches, bars, villages and restaurants- if we need to nip to the pharmacy it's a two mins drive (at the airport) or the supermarket its two mins drive (bini preu) which has coffee shop, restaurant, hairdresser, department store and supermarket- it's about a ten to fifteen minute walk and the busses to Mahon run from here. So we have a rural farmhouse with local convenience!

What makes this house unique

Lovely big pool all to yourself and a back area for BBQs- away from tourists yet a few minutes to the mega super mercado which even has a hairdressers as well as a department store area, a coffee shop and a restaurant

This charming area of historical residential farmhouses is on the Menorquin official cycle path so great for country walks and bike rides following official tried and tested routes. Touristic licence. Extra for more than 6 guests £12 pp pn Outside: The gardens have been part landscaped but there are also areas to play tennis or roll around on the 'grassed' areas! Lots of fruit trees which come out at various times, a BBQ and back area to eat if required with night lighting plus a huge pool with authentic limestone slab surround- cooler on the feet - a pool shower, sunbeds, tables and chairs and a couple of trees under which to lie in the shade. Utility Room: Washing machine is within the downstairs shower room Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linens included. Please bring own beach towels.

Fabulous holiday at Casa Lavanda

Our three generation family recently had a wonderful holiday on Menorca staying at Casa Lavanda. None of us had been to the island before and would highly recommend it...lots of gorgeous beaches, two vibrant towns in Ciutadella (about 40 minutes drive away) and Mahon (which was walking distance away), very reasonable prices for eating out and souvenirs, and fabulous weather. We loved wandering round these towns...even very late at night, when families were out together eating and socialising...just soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying an ice cream.

The house was lovely and, although we spent very little time in it, was clean, well-equipped and spacious. Most of our time was spent in and around the pool which was the best we have experienced in any holiday home we have rented...clean, warm, loads of sunbeds, umbrellas...our 12 year-old granddaughter even perfected the art of reading in the pool without getting her book wet!! Our 5 year-old was almost swimming when we left! It was particularly handy, as we spent so much time at the pool, that one of the bathrooms has a door to the outside

Dezzi could not have been more obliging while we were making arrangements and even arranged for us to get in early as we had an early flight. She encouraged us to eat the figs and plums which were ripening almost as we watched...scrummy! We, of course, obliged.

We would love to return to Casa Lavanda and would definitely recommend it to friends.

A final activity recommendation would be to drive to the top of El Toro, the hill near Es Mercadal. The views from the top are spectacular.

All in all a wonderful holiday.

Our sanctuary

I booked this beautiful farm house for myself and 7 members of my family. We had the most amazing week we didn't want to go home. The farmhouse is a home from home. Felt extremely comfortable and relaxed there. The pool is a perfect size for adults and children where we had lots of fun together. We spent everyday lounging by the pool. Plenty of sun loungers are there so everyone got their own sun bed. My two young sons even learnt to swim in the pool. It's secluded so we didn't have to worry about neighbours yet close to the supermarkets and airport. You would need to hire a car to get to the farmhouse and supermarkets as it's not a short walking distance. There are planes flying over daily but we didn't even notice them after the first day they were no problem at all.

We loved it so much we've booked to go back for two weeks next summer :-) Dezzi is a wonderful person with great communication, very friendly and happy to help in any way she can. We were even fortunate enough to meet her on our arrival to the farmhouse. Which was lovely.

A beautiful, secluded farmhouse in large grounds

I loved the generous, modernised accommodation which combines seclusion, rustic charm, plenty of space and excellent facilities plus the large pool and extensive, planted grounds all surrounded by farmland but only a few minutes drive from local shops.

The owner provided detailed information about the property, how to get there from the airport, car hire, local attractions, restaurants and scenic places to visit.

Utterly lovely!

We had a really wonderful stay at Casa Lavanda.

Dez's communications were fantastic, so everything was organised and ran very smoothly before and during our visit.

The house itself is a lovely old-fashioned farmhouse, with beautiful gardens and pool area. You can pick fresh figs and plums off the trees, enjoy the amazing pool, and lie under the pine trees when you fancy a bit of shade.

The house is really conveniently close to the airport, to the supermarket and to the capital Mahon, but feels totally private and rural – it's set off a little lane, in big gardens with fields at the back, and once you shut the gates you're in your own little world.

You will be aware of the planes, but we didn't find it at all intrusive – they're not frequent or late.

Only one warning: you really won't want to come home!

Blissful place!

Wow! What a wonderful place - we ended up spending alot of time in the gardens & by the pool, instead of the beach - so relaxing to just pop in the kitchen for a snack or drink then be lazing on a sunbed within seconds...The local village, St.Climente had a flower festival while we were there which was lovely. We walked through the back lanes one evening to go out for dinner there (4 lovely restaurants to choose from, including our favourite, Es Pla which has a lovely garden or you can eat in the town square) . It took about half an hour and would have been worth it for the walk alone. Everywhere was a riot of wildflowers and birdsong. The surroundings are just stunning. We were going to get a cab back but enjoyed the walk so much, we returned by moonlight listening to the nightingales & crickets. The barbecue area was very handy, and we picked lemons and sage from the beautiful grounds to cook with. We walked 10 mins up the road to the big department store / supermarket. Binipreu, for shopping (and used the hairdresser there!) . There is also a half hourly bus service to Mahon which meant we could both have a few glases of wine without worrying about driving. We drove to Cuitidella at the other end of the island one afternoon which was beautiful. It's worth hiring a car as there is so many stunning beaches, St.Thomas, Binebeca, Cala n Porter (only 10 mins drive with great bars & restaurants for the evening) & Algeriens. Next time we plan to hire bikes as the cyclepaths througout the island are something else. Can't wait to go back! p.s - it was so nice to have a sitting room to watch dvd's / tv in before bed - and 3 loo's to choose from! little things like that make all the difference....

Lazy days

A perfect retreat for lazy days and nights!

Great gardens and pool.

Easy location to find, very close to the airport.

Good for exploring the island.

A car would be advised as need to drive to amenities.

Special interest holidays:

Lots of historial features on the island make this a holiday with many possibilites. On the official cycle route so excellent for walks and cycle rides.


The nearest beaches are around 10 minutes drive. The sea can be seen in the distance. Calan Porter is a lovely bay with safe swimming for children, Cala Mesquida a cute little beach, Son Bou is a long wonderful stretch of sand, Es Grau is a quaint village with extremely shallow waters. All close by.


Nearest airport is Mahon and is a five minute drive away. Mahon port is around 10-15 minutes drive. Car is recommended. A drive to the harbour and a leisurely walk is recommended, then an invigorating walk up to the centre for shopping before returning to the harbour for lunch whilst looking at the million pound boats! The little houses of Turo are close to the airport so some aircraft noise can be heard-our prices reflect this. If you have any concerns please ask and we will talk you through it


San Climent is around 5 minutes drive and it is also possible to walk there through the country lanes taking about half an hour. Mahon is around 10 minutes and Cuitadella, the original capital, is well worth the drive of around 30 minutes.

Further Details:

There are an abundance of wonderful restaurants in Menorca and we can recommend some. Supermarkets can be found in San Climent (where one can go for coffee and internet use) and Mahon has three on the industrial estate.
