Overview

About the property

House in Mortehoe, Nr. Woolacombe, North Devon - Centrally Located In The Picturesque Village Of Mortehoe

Barricane House, formerly Barricane Inn, was built by my great, great grandfather Samuel Conibear in 1860. It has remained in the family ever since and is now a much loved and revisited holiday home comprising 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sitting room, dining room, kitchen, boot room and two attic 'play' rooms. It is also used by us for more than 10 weeks a year and so it has many home comforts not usually found in a rental property.

What makes this house unique

Family home in the very centre of this beautiful village, with two play rooms for kids to play in and provide some 'peace' for parents & grandparents.

The house was built by my great great grandfather and we have sympathetically modernised it whilst retaining its original character.

Over 50% of our guests stay again and we think that says a lot about our house.

Excellent family home

  • 5 of 5

A lovely family home in the centre of the village. Very comfortable and maintained and equipped to a high standard. Very clean . We love the character of an older property. Ideally placed for village amenities and for walking and the beach. Cream teas, pub, village store, fish and chips all within a few yards.

Lovely house in a stunning location!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we've been to the fantastic Barricane House. There were two families including four small children on our holiday who were easily accommodated within the generously sized house. It's a beautiful old house which is very comfortably furnished. The location is stunning! Mortehoe is a fantastic village with great facilities - two pubs, a general stores which has a bakery, two takeaways and a post office - which is within very easy reach of Woolacombe. This really makes a difference to your stay. There are also some stunning clifftop walks within minutes of the front door.

All in all a great holiday and very helpful owners. We will be back!

Perfect.. Was like a home from home.

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful house that had everything we needed. Perfect for a large group. Spacious so we weren't all on top of each other. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable, especially the beds. Set in a beautiful village surrounded by stunning scenery and amazing beaches. Best day was spent on the coastal walk and watching the seals. Great places to eat on the doorstep. Will definitely go back...so much more to explore!

The property is a period house with charm and character, with all the mod-cons where important.

  • 5 of 5

The house is centrally located in a very pretty village. It has a really good takeaway, lovely corner shop, two good pubs serving good choice if meals, and more. The house every thing you could wish for. Things have been thought through very well. Owners are friendly and helpful. The general location is stunning. A stones throw away is the National Trust sheep grazing land, with trails overlooking the beautiful bays of Barricane and Woolacombe. Woolacombe is only 5 mins drive away. Had a lovely relaxing time. Sorry to leave.
