Barn Conversion In Open Countryside - Alethorpe Sleeps 4 (2 Bedrooms)

Overview

Property

Updated: 22-Nov-2016
Barns in Pensthorpe, Nr. Fakenham, N Norfolk, England - Peaceful Rural Location

The barn is situated opposite the wonderful wildlife reserve of Pensthorpe, in open country - the views from the barn are so expansive that you can barely see another house. The underfloor and gas central heating ensure that it is always cosy but, in the summer, the open plan living area with 3 sets of French windows mean you can enjoy al fresco living. The contemporary furnishings are comfortable and stylish. There is plenty of dining furniture etc so that you can have your friends around easily. The local area has many excellent pubs and restaurants and on the coast at Holkham and Wells you will find beautiful sandy beaches. The barn is the perfect place from which to explore the area and enjoy a home away from home. You can book the properties either singly, or as a pair for larger parties.

About the Owner

When we bought the farm in 2011 we realised that the barn would make the most beautiful holiday homes. We designed them to be as comfortable as home with plenty of room for everyone. We live and work in Norfolk and London so Jodie, who lives on the farm permanently with her family, is the person who makes it all run smoothly. She is on hand to make sure your stay is a special one.

Lovely barn in a secluded location

  • 5 of 5

we had a really lovely stay here over August bank holiday weekend. The barn was clean, spacious and everything you needed even better having bedding and towels provides. The location was just perfect surround by fields and very quiet! Short drive to fakenham and across the road from Pensthorpe nature park. We will definitely be returning!

Stylish barn conversion

  • 5 of 5

Alethorpe is a beautiful barn conversion in a perfect location for exploring North Norfolk. The property itself is so spacious as is the patio and garden which was great for our one year old daughter to explore and run around in. Location is superb. Set well back off the road linking Fakenham and Norwich you had the sense of a real rural location but with the added bonus of being less than a five minute drive from Fakenham with its supermarkets and shops. If wildlife is your thing then Pensthorpe is a must and well worth a day out. Even more so as it is just over the road. Kids (and adults) will love the adventure playgrounds too! A visit to the coast is also highly recommended and less than 20 minutes drive away. The expansive sandy beaches at Brancaster, Holkham and Wells are the best that we've been to in the UK.....by far. All in all a lovely week in Alethorpe and one which we've been waxing lyrical to friends and family about since we got back. They may book and we hope to return!.

All as expected plus plus

  • 5 of 5

Surpassed our expectation in all areas. Very well equipped with quality equipment. Well maintained and spacious accommodation. Many would have included four bedrooms in the space.

The location provides good access to the many attractions and its situation provides views of local wildlife including many Hares.

A delightful experience which we highly recommend.

A beautiful, well equipped, spacious property

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in Alethorpe Barn, it was so spacious, so clean, and so much more than a standard holiday let. The property itself is beautiful, the kitchen modern and well equipped, each bedroom had an en-suite bathroom and plenty of space and storage. We loved the underfloor heating and separate laundry room . Katherine and Lucy looked after us so well, putting up stairgates to keep our toddler safe and bringing her toys and us wine during a spell of bad weather.

The barns are situated in a tranquil, rural location and perfectly located for exploring the whole of the north Norfolk coast. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here, in fact we have already recommended the property to our parents!

Superb accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed in both barns, as we were 2 families of 3 generations. They gave us each our own space but when required, each individual barn had ample room to seat 8 for meals. The owner has thought of everything and each barn has everything you could need to make you feel as if you were in your own home. The barns are located away from any road noice or neighbours for complete peace and tranquility. Loads of places to visit locally, for young and old. Would recommend these barns to anyone.

Ideal base in North Norfolk

  • 5 of 5

Alethorpe is a spacious and immaculate property in a quiet location surrounded by arable farmland. It is very well equipped and ideal as a base for exploring North Norfolk. There are nice walks across the farm with an abundance of wildlife to observe which made our stay even more enjoyable. Pensthorpe Nature Reserve is also within walking distance and is a must for anyone who enjoys nature. I would certainly be keen to book again in the future.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review Alethorpe barn. I'm so glad you enjoyed all the wildlife as well as the barn itself. The geese flying over in the mornings and evenings in Autumn are quite spectacular so you might like to come then. We will look forward to welcoming you back.

My husband's family have always lived and/or holidayed in Norfolk. He brought me to Norfolk when I was 20 and I have loved the place ever since. We really enjoy being just a little set back from the coast, so that, after a busy day, you can return to the peace of Pensthorpe.

The barn is an oasis of calm in a busy world. The farmland around is wonderful for walking and cycling without bumping into another person. Yet the modern conveniences of a supermarket etc are only a couple of miles away.
