Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting.

We spent a week at The Anchorage, and it was comfortable for all 5 of us. It was very clean, well equipped and the garden was a sun trap. The nearby beaches are great and as long as you have a car there are lots of places to visit. It was very peaceful and quiet, and I would stay there again.

For those people who love to fish, the Anchorage is the perfect location. Down the lane lives Nick Oatway who runs a fabulous bass fishing operation with his business partner Bob Musk. See Fishing4Sport "Devon knows why Bassing is so good!". Basically nothing is too much trouble and they will organise anything can be organised, from a single angler who wants corned-beef sandwiches, to eight anglers requiring a Champagne lunch every day on the boat

Coast/Beach:

The wide sandy beach of Wonwell is within walking distance or Bigbury on Sea offers plenty of opportunities for safe fun particularly if you’ve got children in tow. It is dotted with rock pools, so there’s plenty of creepy-crawly entertainment for budding marine biologists and there’s a wide and varied selection of water sports available If you want to try something different from the usual body boarding or surfing then windsurfing and kite-surfing have hire facilities located on the beach.

Distances:

The nearest market town is Modbury has an assortment of shops including local butchers, delis and bakery as does Kingsbridge. Salcombe is a lovely little village selling all sorts of souvenirs, clothing and trinkets. Dartmouth is a must! ‘The Jewel of the South Hams.’ Ancient narrow streets house boutique shops, art galleries & delicatessens. A cobbled market place features colourful stalls and a Farmers market supplying local produce – used in the local restaurants, pubs & cafes.

While this beach is popular with families, there is also a wide and varied selection of water sports available to visitors who prefer their holidays to feature a little adrenaline rush. If you want to try something different from the usual body boarding or surfing then windsurfing and kite-surfing are gaining popularity here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. To give you peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury on Sea beach during May to September and the beach also has a first-aid room. Dogs are allowed on the beach although they are restricted to certain areas during the summer.
